The 35% would be helpful but it means nothing if the dealers start jacking up the pricing like they have been. Also means nothing if the quality continues to be garbage.
@gixxingthecommute341015 сағат бұрын
That was dealers taking advantage of a rare situation - Covid and work from home. The dealers took advantage of the situation with their market adjustments, making the manufacturers want to grab that markup. 2024 has seen CDJR dealers not being able to sell anything and the reason is they've raised MSRP by 51% over 5 years: wildly over inflation rates Now, I won't believe it until I see it, but the market has hit a wall and they need to cut. What I worry about is the people that bought when prices were high, not they're upside down on their vehicle valuations and would need some type of loyalty bonus to be able to trade in their vehicles.
@djjd302714 сағат бұрын
@gixxingthecommute3410 I won't disagree with anything you said, but back in August, cjdr started offering discounts. Dealers would raise their pricing and then offer the discounts bringing the prices back to msrp.

@ The first few years of the N20 (N20B20). They used the wrong type of plastic. They quietly switched to a diffferent type. BMW should have issued a recall to replace the bad rails but didn’t, and a large number of customers suffer complete engine failures. This resulted in a class action lawsuit which BMW lost, but if you had over 100K miles on your car when the engine failed, you received no compensation. I have owned four BMWs, and the durability of the cars diminished with the newer models. Their xdrive components like axles and CV joints, etc. don’t hold up under normal use either and are very expensive to replace. As a premium brand, they need to do better. They are an awesome car to have if you lease them for three years and then turn them back in, but if you like to own your vehicles for a while or put a lot of mileage on cars, then BMW is a brand to stay away from.

Unfortunately, trade-in valuations will also decline, and the resulting negative equity will discourage many from upgrading. This shift could further accelerate the trend of consumers moving away from full-size trucks. As economic pressures mount, more practical and cost-effective choices will likely take precedence, forcing even the most loyal buyers to reconsider the need for oversized vehicles. The full-size truck market, once a dominant force, may continue to dwindle as more sober minds prioritize efficiency, affordability, and practicality over sheer size and capability.

Negative equity is an interesting topic. Some say the average consumer has $6k of negative equity. I think it's much higher especially for people that bought during the pandemic when dealer mark-ups were at their peak with banks lending at 165% LTV. Where are we today? What percentage of consumers that come in expecting to shop for a new car only to find they can't because of their negative equity? They could be trying to roll $10 or even $20k and no bank is going to roll 20k if the consumer want to buy a 30k car or even a 60k car

Dropping prices significantly on new product increases the depreciation for recent buyers putting them in a bigger hole with car loans. While you are trying to attract new customers with deals your existing customers get hosed, although the buyer should not have overpaid in the first place. Trying to move stuff that has been setting for two years takes more effort than just dropping the price. Shady dealers do not want to expend the effort to properly prep vehicles suffering from lot rot. If they will make less profit from a transaction they are even less inclined to do the right thing. I traded in my last Mopar product twenty years ago. What they say about boats is the same with Mopars. The two happiest times were the day I took delivery and the day I sold it.

Truck prices are grossly inflated. When you can buy a new 2024 pickup in September and get $17 thousand off MSRP, you have to wonder what the markup by the manufacturer really is.
@ADxG1369Күн бұрын
this is not rocket science.... they have zero options....but cut prices by 40%. I think they are too late. :(
@TonyGrace-y6z8 сағат бұрын
Prices do have to come down and hope this does happen.. Also bringing back the V8 option would be great for the ram trucks.. Would be nice if stellantis would get things in gear and get us people on indefinite lay off back to work.... That would be a great Christmas gift for us but time will tell but hopefully not to long nut I'm glad to see things moving in right direction and hope something gets put back in at WTAP for us besides the Wagoner

A “Price Cut” doesn’t help with the Fact their selling very Poorly Built Products. Not even worth the Discount Price.
@youtoobe1697 сағат бұрын
This isn't right. Stellantis asked their suppliers to cut their prices by 35%, but they have no intention of discounting the MSRP. They just want more profit per car.

It’s about time that Stellantis made GM and Ford worry about something!! Waaaaay past time.

35% isn't enough, 45% is closer to the real value. I go by what my credit union says they'll loan money on the vehicle. 50k for a pick-up is what the top of the line work truck should cost.

Cybertruck pricing will be $60k in the next year or two. It will never break and has an amazing sound system in it
@Beammeupscotty-w5x13 сағат бұрын
Sceptical. I'll believe it when I see it. Even 45k on a new Charger Ev won't help them sell. Plus Im sure even if we see 35% off it will most likely be on select higher inventory low trim levels of older inventory.

After raising prices by 50 - 60% over the last 4 years, a 35% cut is just about half off the jacked-up prices, which is still too little too late! Let's not forget that their new trucks are crappy! So, they can rot on their lot. Owned a Ram 1500 back in 2019, the Laramie, loved it, really nice truck, but the new ones, are not the same quality.

Here in Puerto Rico they want $130,000 for the RHO..... Same as the TRX when it was available....
@robthehomeowner23 сағат бұрын
@@Danny508pr1 yes bro. Cars are so much more expensive down there.

Doesn't matter if the price comes if the reliability isn't there.

35% off MSRP of vehicles priced $75K up to $100K still makes the vehicles too expensive for no more than they are! Jeeps and Pick-ups are only worth $20 to $40K. These are just basic transportation for people. You live in a city w/no car? Fine. But west of the Mississippi River, you need a car or pick-up to get groceries, go to a MD appointment, et al reasons.

Talk about a Day Late and a Dollar Short. I've already passed on the Gladiator due to their outrageous pricing and quality issues. Purchased a Frontier Pro4X instead.

so they HEAVILY discounted my brand new ram... byt a **LOT**.. I got it for 25% off MSRP and no dealer fees.. and actually a good lease money factor.. now it would be nice if I actually got to drive it.... second day i had it.. check engine light.. misfires.. went in..they kept it a couple days... got it back.. couple days later.. check engine lights... misfires... they think they have the fix and apply it... i go to pick it up today and its dead.. like nothing nada zilch zip.. no lights no sound no nothing... so they towed it right back into the garage where it is now no idea why... brand new 2025 RAM... id love to actually get to drive it..

Bring back the standard cab Dakota, short bed true midsize like my 07 Colorado in size with the Hurricane engine and manual tran and that discount and I WILL BUY IT

Prices are too high. But slashing 2025 prices by 35% will also cut the value of all current inventory, trade-ins, and value of vehicles purchased in the last 2 years. People will be instantly underwater with their loans and truck value so unable to sell or get a decent trade in. Good way to sell trucks. Bad thing to screw over current vehicle owners.
@kirkdunn137916 сағат бұрын
can't happen because of this very thing, will offset the market too much....not to mention the bank loans currently on those vehicles.....
@BBBILLY8615 сағат бұрын
@kirkdunn1379 I'm seeing several thousand off MSPR and 0.6 to 2.99% dealer loans all over the web. I scored a new last call Scat Pack 22k off mspr and my daughter bought a new Subaru at 2.99% thru Sub. I refinanced my 9.3% down to 5.7%. Deals are out there if people look further than the window sticker.

@seank253116 сағат бұрын
If CAT really does release that truck at 40K all these other companies are done for. And if you can just cut 35% of your profit, then you've been ripping people off for far to long. Maybe more CEO's need to be put on notice.

There is a new problem, since those cars were sitting on a lot for a year plus, especially in East Coast where it rains and snows a lot, parts have to be replaced now like, brakes which are expensive, battery, oil and gas due to water separation. And people have to pray nothing happened inside of an engine and transmission because they were standing there dry. I know there is oil in oil pans, but when there is no circulation, it affects certain inner components.
@robmacarthur377810 сағат бұрын
How much do you think it would cost to properly maintain vehicles on the lot that are over 100 or 150 days old? Are we talking about 500 per months or 1000? Brakes get expensive quickly.
