For whoever hasn’t tried this game yet, this is pretty hard. He’s not only using complete combos, he’s also using the right reactions for the right attacks. Some attacks can only be avoided by dodging backwards or forwards depending on the color. So in a split second, you gotta ID the type of attack and then time it appropriately. Then he always has the right reactions to try to utilize his resources effectively, capitalizing after each perfect dodge, parry, jump, blink, etc

If you are playing on quality mode change to balance or better yet performance. I was struggling with this game due to the minor input lag in the higher quality settings. (Some may be able to adjust but the game felt terrible to “me” before changing this) once I switched all my inputs landed and it made this boss simple even w/ just using the skin suite and no accessories. 👍

I just got done with the demo myself, and while I am (obviously) not nearly as good as your showing here, I will say that this game made the instincts from my seven playthroughs of Sekiro kick into overdrive in a way that Wo Long and Lies of P simply didn't. Between that and the fact that Shift Up's other game, Nikke, has genuinely compelling story and characters despite being a fricking *gacha*, it's safe to say I'm looking forward to playing this game.

@Ostsol The gameplay for sure couldn't be more different, but thematically there's definitely some parallels: attractive cyborg/android women fighting alien abominations to try and reclaim Earth (likely undergoing large amounts of turmoil and suffering along the way). I wonder if there's gonna be any Nikke Easter Eggs in the game-I'd love a skin or two based on Rapi, Scarlet, Red Hood, or any number of other Nikke characters.

As if having Sekiro’s combat wasn’t awesome enough, the game’s story and characters draw big inspiration from Nier Automata while the enemies look like a fusion of the ones from Dead Space and Gears of War. This could very well end up being my personal GOTY 🤩

From what I've seen, I personally find the enemy design incredibly bland and uninspired, the main character similarly looks bland and unappealing, and those constant noises for every attack? I still don't understand why this keeps happening in action games. Weird part being too, it's only typically reserved for feminine characters. I've yet to see a man's man grunt so much in any action game. Hell, I thought the occasional grunts from Link and whatnot were annoying, this is just unhinged lol

Bit of a hot take, there. This game is equal parts Bayonetta, Nier, Dead Space, Sekiro, Devil May Cry, FF7R, and Tomb Raider (to name a few.) In the end, it felt like a mish-mash of ideas from a ton of successful games all forced together to ultimately remove any personality this game COULD have had. Best thing it had going for it was the timer telling you how long it was since your last save.

This demo was an absolute blast! The gameplay feels like a perfect mix of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and flashier (but somewhat easier) action games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. It's nice to play a big budget game in 2024 that is not a remake, reboot or sequel to an aging IP, has unabashedly-beautiful people fighting grotesque monstrosities, AND has cool, intense music I would happily listen to hype myself up during workouts! I know short demos aren't fully representative of what a game will feel like after dozens of hours, but I am quite confident this could be GOTY for me when I finally get around to playing the full game!

@@Kamawan0 The combat seems to be somewhere between Soulsborne games and Nire/Bayonetta/DMC, which makes it surprisingly hard to compare to existing games. In a way, I would also compare it to the Star Wars Jedi games or playing Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+ on Critical Difficulty (I felt that game still has the best combat in the whole KH series), but even those might not be 100% accurate comparisons to Stellar Blade here. I actually think it's a strength that Stellar Blade isn't 100% a Soulslike game--it provides a challenge without being 100% inaccessible to those that can't get into these types of games for whatever reason. I guess it's a good thing they put out a playable demo if it's this hard to put the appeal of Stellar Blade (so far) into words.
