I am not gonna lie, as of the (few?) weirdos that played Destiny Child daly I was not very excited when I saw Project Eve and Project Nikke announced (G-star 2019, if I remember that right). Nikke seemed like their main focus and Eve was a trial project of sorts. NGL, I did not expect Stellar Blade to turn out so polished and well made and I do hope Shift Up does more games like this. I wonder how likely that is since nikke brings literal millions in revenue every month and this game might look like a failure by comparison in a spreadsheet, no matter how well it sells.

I'm enjoying Dragons Dogma 2 right now. And will play Rise of the Ronin next. But Stellar Blade is the title I've been waiting to play for years. This will scratch that Sekiro and Nier itch all in one game. And will look good doing it. 😉😏

Great review! I've only played a bit of the demo but I was really impressed on how thoughtful and fun the game was! (Even the yellow paint on the climbable surfaces has an in-game reason!) Has a Neitlr Automata/Bayonetta/Souls feel. Can't wait to play the full game next month!

I'm binging videos of ppl playing the demo. And I've already done the demo twice! I have never played a single souls/sekiro game, pre-ordered it as soon as I was done with the demo. It was so much fun! Successfully performing those perfect parries and dodges were so satisfying! The parry timing feels like PS2 era Onimusha to me.

Yes. They are not as extensive as DMC's air combos since that's not the focus of combat but you can chain basic attacks into burst and beta attacks in the air.

every time someone says "you need to perfectly timed X and Y" - especially in context with parrying - all my brain hears is "this game is not for you". still, looks interesting for the people who have functioning reflexes.

This game will have multiple difficulty options and one called “story mode” which tells you the timing of when to dodge and parry. So you can put the game on an easier difficulty mode and play it casually.

I got a love hate relation with easy modes. On the one hand I am grateful that they exist, as they allow me to play games where even normal would be too difficult for me. But often enough I feel easy ends up being TOO easy, to the point where it becomes boring. Wish sometimes there was a mode between easy and normal, if that makes sense?

One thing both Dragon's Dogma games got right was fighting huge enemies by climbing on them, aiming at their eyes with arrows, etc. It seems so pointless to have huge enemies and then be able to just parry them with a blade. Other than that, it looks like it could be very good.

It’s not bad but definitely not worth $125 which is the asking price in Australia . It’s basically Nier Automata mixed with Bayoneta and dark souls camps thrown in for good measure. It has rather inconsistent traversal and not much thought put into that animation at all in his regard. Swinging on bars has no real momentum for Instance and the environment is reactive in some ways but not in others. There is barely a sign of reactive foliage and jumping in small puddles does nothing where larger bodies there is a splash sometimes. Diving under water and swimming in general at least works well though. Enemy variety is pretty samey and puzzles at least on the demo are far too easy and mean you need to backtrack if you want to collect everything which seems the norm for these sorts of games. Seeing it’s not a Sony first party game it is not too bad and seeing it doesn’t have the budget of the rather ordinary FF rebirth as far as graphics go I can concede a bit of messy texture work and environmental effects based on budget. However please for the love of god get rid of well placed explosive barrels. I thought those day were long in the past. I would still give this game a 7 out of 10 anyway but it’s not a must play experience. Graphics I would give a 7.5 out of 10 as there is room for improvement. Sound 6 out of 10 as the sound is is all over the place. Smoothness 9.5 out of 10 - Very smooth in this regard thankfully in balanced mode. I did try graphics mode but the camera movement at 30 fps was headache inducing. Value based on demo would be a 7 . It is just way overpriced and feels like it should b priced in the mid range.

Hello Metal Gear Rising Revengeance parry system is perfect. The perfect parry window gets smaller the higher the difficulty setting. Bayonetta game play focus on Witch Time which is activated by perfect dodge which gets harder the more you amp up the difficultly.

HD2 is really fun but yeah if you aren't a fan of multiplayer, then you probably won't like it because it heavily relies on solid teamwork. Stellar Blade is my GOTY, I can already tell.

Looks cool. I wish it had waited another month or two to release. I'm currently in the middle of FF 7 Remake. Haven't even touched Dragon's Dogma 2 or Rise of the Ronan. And this game will probably needs more core elements to be considered a pure souls. Eve will have like 5 sections of her Skill Tree, similar to games like FFXVI.
