They know that what type of games they like doesn't make a game bad and on top of that Stellar Blade is the kind of game that can make people that don't like Dark Souls like games actually like it because it combines that with Devil May Cry etc elements of fighting and is more forgiving than those. Still hard but not completely infuriating hard.

as laughable as it may seem one of the things that shocked me the most was the ladder mechanics. I don't mean just the unique slide or jiggle climbing up. but the fact that at one point I jumped towards a ladder from the wrong side and instead of just falling to the ground she grabbed the side and has an animation to swing around the ladder. hell alot of games don't even let you jump and start climbing a ladder kind of hope more games do this.

I remember seeing an interview from a game dev that ladders and you wouldn’t guess this but implementing DOORS are actually difficult to do. So the fact that they actually went the extra mile for that ladder flipping is awesome

@@extra4542 Yeah i was impressed the first time i saw the latter thing. She also does interesting moves while jumping, sometimes she just makes a full flip and lands on a box or something or she walks near the wall touching the wall etc. There are quite a few details.

The game has one weak detail like vegetation barely reacting to Eve or explosions but they make it up with their fantastic animations like the ladder one or her having 3 animations for souble jumps The game has some annoying stuff but holy shiet, they put other developers to shame with their 1st big game Same goes for Ember labs with Kena bridge of spirits Fantastic game

They didn't focus on pointless eye candy(they focused on the right candy if you know what i mean) and irrelevant details, they focused on the things that truly matter like your own character and how it moves etc and how the enemies react etc. Things that actually affect your gameplay and pleasure instead of high textures on some irrelevant wall a few meters away etc or the plants reacting to you. In the second game they may bother with a few more details now that they have the base of how their game is.

For being their first console AAA game this is a very strong showing, if they can have the same level of combat and performance while improving story and english voice acting for their next game then I can easily see 10/10. For me this game is around 9/10. I prefer a game like this being reviewed by Alex since he seems to enjoy them more then the regular Joes over there, and will therefor give an action game enjoyers opinion.

@@theduck2970 Not really what's happening, a lot of people are just pointing out a lot of reviews specifically cite EVE's "sexualization" as a negative point in their review, lowering the score. Its just that they're still injecting their own politics into reviews. Also its well past a conspiracy theory at this point that a lot of companies are largely owned by shareholder groups like blackrock and vanguard who are largely responsible for pushing these agendas in gaming, offering grants to devs that meet ESG scores and such. People just want an honest review, if someone genuinely thinks its bad then fine, but I think deducting points just cause the main character is attractive, or at the very least citing it as a negative, is just peak twitter brainrot, while the same exact people horny post like crazy over some cripple from Hades 2. That's what people hate, hypocrite journos who are just talentless hacks that would never be talked about if not being inflammatory with 0 standards that will flip on their supposed morals in an instant, and are the ones that made the conversation about EVE in the first place as opposed to whether the game is just good or bad.

It is quite strange. The massive amount of news around it, being screamed at by Forbes multiple times and all that jazz. One would think this game made a dent in the market and would be worth a full review, full longplay, full analysis of the events around it, attention to the crazy last-minute demands by Sony, the entire movement Grummz pushed in online petitions to uncensor it, gamers backing the game with great delight and reviews. And zero twitter remarks by Joe. Very, very strange actually.

Actually, when it comes to the censoring of this game, the thing I thought was interesting was that, in Japan, it was rated Mature for Blood, Gore and the Booby thing. But some folks from EA gave them sh!t because the Dead Space Remake had the same Blood and Gore, but wasn't even allowed to be rated in Japan, and thusly couldn't be sold there.

I haven't gotten far with Stellar Blade yet, as according to my PS5, I've only up to 19% completed. But from the game I've played so far, I have been enjoying Stellar Blade.

I love how he is at the end of the game and only has 2 beta skills and 5 heals XD. That aside, I am going to have to disagree with the story being bad. The world building is quite good and more layered than someone who blazed through the game would know. I think this actually lends itself to being a better game. If you dont care much about lore you dont have to look at the stuff, but if you do then the collectibles you find will tell you a lot about the world and how its built. Adding on how its relatively easy to find these and read them compared to others like dark souls etc it makes it easy to immerse yourself in the world. To top it all off the game doesn't oversaturate you with a million things to do and read.

Personally, doing the side quest and finishing each characters story adds to the overall story. Granted, writing isn’t the best but, it shows more of “human” element. Based on the fall of Xion segment, only the hairstylist quest line was fully completed.

Korean, Chinese and Japanese games I feel often play much better with native language audio and English subtitles. Nier Automata genuinely felt like playing in a dystopian anime with Japanese audio. I'll switch this game to Korean too.

People seem to forget that this game got very little marketing for mass audience cause I never seen Joe even talk about this game and most of my gaming friends never even heard of it till now. The only reason it’s blowing up now is because of the drama that occurred after it came out.

Stellar Blade was a lot more hyped up than that, presented on multiple State of Plays & Playstation showcases and immediately carried by a lot of word of mouth. No marketing for masses, but average trailer watching Sony player should have at least heard about this game.

This review had some end footage, like showing one of the end bosses yoyu can fight, Providence in the first couple of minutes. And even the first footage is from one of the last areas in the game.

I've played around 10 hours so far and Stellar Blade might end up being my game of the year (given what other games I'm aware of coming out so far). I didn't play Nier Automata more than a few hours because I couldn't get into the game for whatever reason (not sure why... it just wasn't clicking for me which is odd as the game was something I thought I'd love), so any comparisons there are meaningless to me. It'll all be unique. Therefore, as a fresh experience, it's one of the best PS5 "next-gen" games I've played so far. It looks amazing, it plays amazing, and as someone who's all in on fashion in games, having over 50 costumes to unlock IN GAME with no needed DLC is just another level above. The whole experience feels as feature complete as Armored Core 6 did as an action game. I haven't had any issue understanding Eve's character so far, and her English VA is fine to me, but Adam's VA... I think he must've been told to have nearly no emotion in his lines, which is really weird at times. Anyway, an 8/10 from AJS is a very high score for you guys, so it's cool to know you liked it that much.
