I don’t agree that they consider the survival horror sections are padding; I assume Shift Up has QA tested it enough to find that not everyone uses the gun often to prepare them for the insta-kill move for the bosses at the end… but also, to me, it’s there to nicely spread the lore dump about the origin of the Naytiba instead of cramming it in one area

Stellar Blade is a perfect example of why PS5 is the easy choice of consoles this generation. Not earth shattering, but plenty of fun to be had for 15-30 hours. Happy I played it.

TBH I really liked fishing in SB. And I hate fishing in most games.

I went all critical chance/ crit damage for most of the game until the final stretch from Raven onward, where i used the damage reduction and more Beta.

I went with gold and pickups, and I also used the camo exospine with reflex to make parries and dodges easier.

Love the OST in Stellar Blade and Nier: Automata. Funny story about soundtracks, but I had heard and loved the Celeste soundtrack before playing the game. The soundtrack is what put it on my radar and made me buy the game I loved it so much. Ended up beating Celeste, which is probably one of the hardest games I’ve ever beat. I’m proud of that one.

I really don’t understand how people could think taking Adam’s hand would lead to the bad ending. If you pay attention to the game and what he says, it’s so clearly the better outcome than rejecting it.

I was of the mind that both sides weren't good and that Eve would figure this shit out later. On second playthrough I paid a bit more attention to some of the things he said and all the "bad" stuff in the game seemed to be attributed to Raven and he had no control over what she was doing. I still don't think he was necessarily good, but he was at least trying.

Adam is a liar and a manipulator who believes he has authority to decision make for everyone else. He is the sole reason everything in this universe is as bad as it is. I found accepting his hand to be the absolute worst ending. If Eve rejects his hand she does so on her own volition. The world may be more difficult in the end, but at least she has the choice to decide her future.

After hearing colin speak about the lasting impact of certain type of genre defining games (like system shock, and doom), and after playing this game, i think Colin would get a kick out of Dark souls finally. Souls 3 and 1 i consider the most fair out of the three games, and id be interested to see if Colin dislikes certain design choices of the second game, as most people do, but with fresh eyes.

The reason they say typical and classic eve is because there's been 7 different versions of her over the years with each airborne division. Raven was the last version of her. They mean typical in the sense of it's another android from space right?

I loved this game. My main complaints about this game are the overall story, more to do with the VA I think and the platforming. I love platforming and I don't want them to just remove it from the game, I want them to improve it in a sequel. Don't pull an Infamous 2. For a sequel I hope they add another playable character with the same style(NO 9S!) and a new weapon or two, maybe bare handed(or legged). More of the same, just improved.

The guy in the bottom left is kind of annoying. SB's music is 60% Shift Up and 40% Monica. Monica is the company that created the music for Nier Automata. he thinks all SB's music is like Nier Automata? Where does 60% of the music go? Even for 40% of Monica's music, the music director was a shift-up person.

The "nier-inspired" aspects people are talking about are vastly overblown, coming from someone who played both games and own their soundtracks. Only 5-10 tracks out of the 100+ soundtrack sounds anything like Nier. Democrawler, Hypertube, both Raven battles, Great Desert 2, Belial, Everglow, and many other tracks don't sound like anything found in nier. And not every slow, melodic soundtrack steams from Nier either

Loved Stellar Blade. It is an average story ESPECIALLY if you’re already familiar with Automata front to back. You’ll read Raven like A2 in frame one. But there’s so many gems to love. Shotgun is busted, free stagger on large enemies as if you’re using the grenade to knock them off balance, it gets super fun when it opens up. Great 8 out 10 experience imo. Also fave outfits are Sporty Suit (Yellow Jumpsuit) and the Orca Exploration fit. Planet Dive Fit with the Pilot jacket an honorable mention

Overall I enjoyed Stellar Blade more, but I can see that objectively Nier is perhaps ‘better’. I beat Stellar Blade on Hard mode, no NG+ and without wearing a suit (shield) - plus got the platinum. I got a little bored by Nier by the end, other than the ‘actual’ ending (D/E).

20:40 Some mild spoilers... In that point about Lily in the pod, she was NOT in there for two years. Adam was talking about her hideout in Eidos 9 and was there for that long. The issue is because we, the player, first meet her getting stuck in the pod and we automatically assume THAT was the hideout. What happened was that she went to the creator, but Gigas showed up. So, she hid in the pod and got stuck. I will say the writing should've clarified that point or rewritten that section to make better sense

I just beat Stellar blade 2 days ago and put in 50 hours. I really wish I liked it more but I found it overall to be disappointing. The story wasn't even my issue. It was the combat and platforming never felt good. Half the grenades and Healing items felt useless and super slow to use during combat. The block takes way to many frames and there is very little feedback visually or audibly to understand timing for combo's. I studied frame by frame to see if I was missing something but the only way to be consistent is to build mussel memory of the timing not shown to the player. And the having a boss that has an instant kill that requires a limited resource is bad design.

I didn't hate everything but it had alot of issues and feel $40 would have been much better then me paying $70 like I did. @@bananasean5145 There are 4 people in this video saying the exact opposite of you, and my experience with the game is similar. You press the down key to throw a grenade, and weirdly, it lands at your own feet and explodes on contact. It's basically instant. No one is saying it's slow except you. There are colorful flashes of light and a noise that plays for every dodge, parry, and unbreakable enemy attack. These are things actual players know... like me. Hopefully, that is enough to prove I'm not a bot to others. You've already made up your mind on which direction given your own made-up binary path you'll go with to make yourself feel better.

It takes 2 frames for her to raise her sword to block. Could have been something off due to a setting and Id like to have a genuine discussion but you are being oddly hostile.

@@VariantAEC I mean you have to press the grenades when your free from doing any other action including in a window where you are not being hit, but it is essentially a get off me button and knocks all enemies on their ass. But you do have to use it when eve is in a neutral state. Like it doesn't animation cancel or anything but this is pretty intuitive if you play any fighting game or dark souls game.

ps5 is killing it this year- who cares about multi, this is the console that has everything! ff7 rebirth, stellar blade, persona 3 reload, rise of ronin, tekken 8, elden ring expansion, unicorn overlord, SMT5 with a new storyline added as optional, helldivers 2, dragons dogma 2, yakuza 8, Octopath traveler 1&2 bundle is out as well and we have a new MANA game soon, a new legend of heroes, a new space marines 40k, kingdom come 2, wolf among us 2, dragon quest 3 remake, ASTROBOTS, METAPHOR the upcoming goty jrpg etc If the sony fans arnt happy about this year they can never be happy- oh and ofc we have metal gear solid 3 remake, a splinter cell remake, a witcher 1 remake and witcher 4 in dev, gta 6, judas, death stranding 2, dragon quest 12 etc. Ps5 is killing it, I dont know why these suckers on reddit cry over XBOX because of some shitty indiana jones. Its pathetic.

I think Stellar Blade 2 will see a sizeable falloff in sales. This game got carried by the culture war marketing, but I don’t think the same type of buzz can be recaptured by the same franchise. It also baffles me Colin is not a Nier guy
