I don't think anything can top the patch that had planetary automation and autobuild construction ships for me. That was truly a game changer and made playing with more than 10 planets fun. Special shout-out to the patch that destroyed the Battleships only fleet composition though. This upcoming patch still looks fabulous mind you.

I do not think, and never did think, that armies could be fixed. I don’t think the scope and scale of Stellaris is fine enough to create what many people consider a “good” combat system. This though, this idea that they are doing I think is the best solution.
@thomaslacroix6011
@thomaslacroix6011 Жыл бұрын
The only real solution is to create a system of logistics for armies as complex as the fleet. Basically, as long as you don't have to spend as much resources on armies as you need on ship fleets, ground combat will be able to be bypassed in some manner. And having to intensively manage armies isn't something we want. Increasing collateral damage is ironically the best way to force players to consider what their approach to conquest is. At the end of the day, orbital supremacy always guarantee conquest, but what will remain? How much time are you willing to spend to bombard? How high will the war exhaustion increases?

I always just wanted them to be ship modules so I didn't have to think about it. This is close enough I guess.

i think armies are fine, but they could introduce more types of unit's I.E high attack units with little staying power and then more front line units and then have phases in combat similiar to how CK3 does there battles, the actual combat imo is fine it's a spaceship game first and foremost

Yeah, there's a ton of notifications I would love to disable. And sure, I don't care for leader level up notifications either, but I do care about what traits they might have gotten. However, I usually instinctively click away the level up notification before I read the "this guy got a trait" notification, thus I have to go into the leader pool list anyway to see what they got. So if that trait notification would actually say what trait it is then that would be lovely.

@aarondubois6162

heres an idea, carrier class ships. they have reduced weapon slots but more component slots with special components for them. they can join with conventional fleets and act like normal military vessels in combat. when its time to invade a planet, the carriers can deploy armies based on the components equipped. like extra assault army barracks, specialized army's like siege or heavy troops ect. there could be a bunch of different kinds of armies and army support components like on board hospitals to reduce damage taken, logistics depots for less moral damage, armories for extra damage, just to name a few. they could also have bonuses to bombardment types to support ground troops. and it could all easily fall under the "bombard planet" command for fleets, so invading and capturing a planet could be done with standard fleets and wouldn't interrupt the flow in wars as much. take the system like before and then just have your fleet bombard a planet for a bitt and it would also initiate ground warfare. no more having to recruit armies on planets or space stations and commanding them separately from normal military fleets. all integrated into 1 easier to use mechanic, plus the amount of variability it could afford with the different types of armies and support components you could equip in the ship designer tab. they've already added frigates so why not another new ship type to help smooth out the ground combat mechanics.

I strongly believe the sector changes are the best. I miss setting up sectors and funding them, having them focus on certain things; which was impractical at best with the blob of 4 star system distances we got. I really don’t like the surrendering planets deal. You can’t occupy territory without an occupation force. This change eliminates the need for armies altogether if we can just bombard until surrender. It also drastically reduces the use for collosus ships. Now the ascension is only good for total war and quickly cracking crisis planets.

I started stellaris on Xbox. Sector editing was my jam. When my empire resource stockpile was full, I'd dump it into a sector stockpile. Let's say I have a stockpile capacity of 500k and ten sectors. That ultimately means that when I am dragged into a war of attrition, I had 5 million to draw on in addition to my 500k. Hopefully, we can deposit alloys into the sectors in this patch.

My only hope is that the new Army manager will know to prioritize building armies from planets that have Military Academies. I know in the long run it doesn't matter much but it's gonna be annoying if I go to the effort of designating one planet as my army-construction world because it gets a bunch of bonuses to starting experience and construction speed, only for the army builder to just spawn armies from every single planet in my empire.

I don't like decolonisation/decentralisation on a macro-scale in most games and didn't like it before in this game, so I don't like the min-maxing involved in separating things out between governours... into vassals, etc. I would rather have the generalist form of things where I guide my empire rather than micro-(min-max)manage it. Give a list of governours and I choose which ones to bring in (maybe give them a planet to really focus on), then let the larger apparatus of the empire exist as a series of bonuses or maluses by the wider effects of said empires & ruler(s), etc.

Sector planning is important for making sure that your vassals are shaped the right way. Making sure your bulwark is set up to cover the flank properly for example. Science ships being able to explore instead of survey is my favorite thing. Sometimes I don't want to increase my empire but I just want to see where everything is but I feel compelled to take it when I see how much is available in a system. Ground armies being fixed is also insane and I never thought that day would come. This patch is insane to me. Does it suck we have to pay for DLC, sure, but trade for that we get so many free updates with so many amazing new things we all asked for. 10/10 patch!

I played stellaris on launch, and when I saw that you couldn't edit sectors it was one of the few ways that game got worse. I was horrified by the border gore of the new sector system and it was so restrictive, I can't count how many times I've had a sector need to be just a little bit bigger. I'm glad to see they are adding it back!

indeed, i also remember when you had the victory goal of owning 90% of the galaxy or 70% if you were in a federation there they removed that and only time victory is enable which is sad

*old man voice* I remember in the before times, you could only jump with a station, build stations everywhere, and the robits couldn't hurt you cause they weren't reeeaaaaaallllll

Did I hear notification filtering?! Can I finally remove popups for those STUPID TERRAFORMING CANDIDATES?! I plan on terraforming lots of planets in my playthroughs anyway so I never need to know that literally every planet is terraformable.
