First of all - Thank you all SO much for the support for this series over the last few videos, it has been amazing and it is the ultimate motivation to continue with this higher effort full run style, been great reading all the feedback!! Secondly.. Not all that happy with the audio of this video (Lots of static and just generally not the best quality) This is due to rushing and having too much going on at once - Won't be an issue in the coming let's play of the DLC! At least there are no black screens now as that issue has been 100% fixed, woo! Hope you all enjoy the last full run before the next DLC in which there will be at least one regular heavily edited let's play then back to full runs, at least that's the current plan!! :D

Once they're updated for 2.2, you should look into the crisis manager for harder and possibly multiple crises, dynamic difficulty for a scaling difficulty level that gets harder the longer the game goes, and enhanced AI mods to increase challenge while maintaining vanilla feel.

When a native Devouring Swarm meets an extragalactic one... HAK HAK HAK HAK HAK HAK! It's a bit ironic, though. For most of the game, you were eating everybody. When the Prethoryn Scourge showed up, your last victim ended up helping you fight them off, even though they are just as driven to eat everything as you are. Like somehow, getting eaten by you is preferable to getting eaten by those guys. lol

I still stand by my idea that the player should have access to "biological" looking ships. I mean, they already have some for the end crisis we saw last time. Why not make a few modifications (or even recycle it, I don't really care) in order to maximize roleplayability?

I'd like it if when you went down the biological evolution path you could create biological ships and they would start using food instead of energy/minerals, maybe with an decreased ship build time depending on your excess food similar to how pop growth works. Maybe they would have increased hull regen or evasion or something like that too. Itd make bio more on par with the others or atleast make it more interesting

Ofc, the tradeoff is that you have to focus on food production much more than energy or minerals and that you are also forfeiting another civic you could have taken.

Find your channel yesterday , Just love the fact that I can watch a full play-through in least then 2 hours. very well explained with great commentary and the felling I see all the important conflicts and alliances , the development of the enemy's by the empires screens , who is friendly who's stronger or weaker , I'm not a native english speaker but I can understand everything clearly and easy .

I looked up what the fortress could give you, and it seems the Encoder, Decoder, and science boost are the best reward you can get from it. Glad you spoke to the Prethoryn after they arrived, good fortune that you were a species that could speak to them again. I love this style of video. Much better than watching someone do all the mundane things like manage their planets, etc. I would recommend cutting the video into half hour chunks and then upload one video per day until youre out of videos. That way you cater to KZbin's algorithm more and you (hopefully) get more clicks. Since the cuts are already so choppy (but not in a bad way!) I don't think videos smaller than 30 minutes would be good.

Autonomous Ship Intellects are distinct from Sapient Combat Computers, and while mechanically identical, are not "Dangerous Tech", i.e. it's not red in the research screen. The autonomous intellects are part of the Gestalt Consciousness, they're not individuals. It neither makes the Contingency more likely nor does it suffer from the Ghost Signal.

It should be noted that Prethoryn is defensive with its tactics. You attack one of their systems, their idle fleets everywhere will converge on you. The number that will converge on you is proportional to the amount you use to attack with. So if you use a massive fleet, you can expect all of their own fleets to come after you. You can use this to your advantage by attackinng two systems far apart and you can seperate large grouped up masses of their fleets. This is essential because sometimes, Prethoryn will congregrate their fleets in a single system with fleet power in that system numbering 10 million+ which is undefeatable.

That planet bug is likely due to a style of rendering called “retained mode” (as opposed to “immediate mode”) Immediate mode works like so: “go through each planet in the current system and render it, then go through each ship in the system and render it” Retained mode works a bit differently. When you enter a system it would do this: “go through each planet and add a planet object to the current object list”, when your ships arrive it would add ship objects for them, and when your ships move it would move those ship objects. When you leave a system it would remove all the planets, ships, etc. from the object list. Retained mode is my preferred method because it reduces the amount of manual rendering and means each piece can much more easily have complex rendering code, however the downside is there can be persistent bugs like you saw there when an object fails to be removed. Since each object is self-contained it will simply sit there and continue rendering. Similar things can happen if the position is modified incorrectly. It’ll just sit there at the incorrect location, and if anything says “move 10 units to the left” as opposed to “move to these coordinates” those errors will persist, and if something repeatedly says “move to the left” those errors will accumulate.

I have a hive empire called the growing cluster, due to lithoids cause why not, and I somehow rapidly overpowered a hegemony origin empire and it's allies, later utterly crushing them while the Fallen Empire was being a nuissance, then the unbidden, whom I was stressing out about, was massacred with the first in game month. I love these videos, just. One tiny nibble. Plasma is the absolute best weapon against the swarm. It hurt see you have it and not use it.
