I think that Paradoxes should add planetary anti-space batteries - basically anti-fleet guns and missiles, that destroy ships on the orbit of the planet. That makes lots of sense (realistically, planet as a battle unit is much more dangerous than any military space station), and would highly increase importance of ground battles - because you won't be able to just freely bomb the planet into oblivion anymore (unless the planet is absolutely undefended, of course)

Step 7: Buy and use as many favors as possible. The AI fights back buying favors. Step 8: You get enough influence to strong arm the passing of the resolution. Step 9: Realice that during all the time wasted on bureocracy, you and your federation already wiped out 60-70% of the Crisis. Step 10: By the time you are about to end the vote early, the crisis its hardly an issue. Step 11: The crisis is defeated before the resolution passes.

I actually had a pretty good first experience with the crisis. Because I chose the defender of the galaxy perk, all my neighbors decided I was their friend now, and I held the line against the crisis long enough for my allies to arrive(I used the take point function) and together we beat back the crisis...until some imperialist idiot decided that they needed to build starbases in-between the rest of the galaxy and the scourge...only to close borders to everyone. He lost his entire fleet lol

This- Though if you have allies and can get a declaration- don't forget to set your fleets to take point. It causes all allied AI fleets to follow yours into battle. Also anyone else hate how the AI cheats? Went to war with a fallen, completely decimated all its fleets and captured it's worlds- Even conquered most of their vassels except a friend of mine I'm trying to free from them- somehow spawns more fleets and somehow spawns armies randomly around the galaxy despite not having anywhere they can. 🤡

I still remember how I decided to go back to Stellaris at request of my friend and play with him. It's was be after introduction of Mercenaries and especially those stupid rails between systems. This is biggest heresy I have ever seen. You start fighting AI empire, destroying its entire fleet, and literally in a few seconds it has a full fleet again, which teleports behind you along rails and goes to destroy your systems. And no matter how much times you destroy AI fleet that has mercenaries, it spams and spams them without any CD. After that i never play Stell again. It's just a useless bullshit, with balance like this.

I remember playing as a fanatic materialist egalitarian and near the middle/end of the game, the fanatic spiritualists awoke and started throwing around pretty much the whole galaxy, so we were all trying to combat the awakened empire to no avail when the fanatic materialist empire woke up and did absolutely nothing. The awakened spiritualist empire was bad enough when the unbidden comes out of nowhere right next to a wormhole that leads to one of my allies. At first the unbidden was being a pain in the ass to the awoken empire and allowed us some breathing room, but then it started attacking us so we had to steamroll it before it got out of hand. In the end, I mustered a big enough fleet to destroy the awakened empires fleets, causing the dominos to slowly begin crashing down on them. After all was said and done, I had a black hole system as well as some colony systems, and I even managed to steal a good bit of technology. I won that game.

I become galactic emperor though only protecting my own territory while letting the grey tempest sterilize entire planets of life, just for me to claim the free real estate and kill the tempest only after it killed 2/3rds of Galaxy, also I opened the L gate in the first place while being on the council.
