Basically volume 20-30 developer (mixes w bleach if you wants go 3-4 levels lighter) than mix your permanent hair color in the mixture. Than the hair color be close to the permanent hair color but it's going to be brassy. Than you add a toner/rinse/semi permanent hair color that is exactly the same hair color as permanent hair color. If you going to do lightest browns of any undertone, natural reds/gingers, pastel hair colors, or artificial colored hair. You need to bleach the hair to blonde, tone it w blue/or purple shampoo than added the semipermanent hair color (that's lightest browns of any undertone, natural reds/gingers, pastel hair colors, or artificial colored hair)?

I also like to take the swatch and fan it out , and push it into the base of the roots in the back area where Brian showed . if it blends threw and disappears in the hair its a perfect match ;)

You would also want to hold that hair in your hand away from the head right? b/c it still can be deceiving right up against the head. Just my own tip and how I was taught at a a Paul Mitchell school. Ya'll do a great job! Keep it up!

Hey There love, i appreciate all the hair color tips they're very helpful... However I'm still I Lil confused.. Lets take me for example. Black women natural level 2/3 and I want to go to let's say cooper red.. What vol level would should I use? And what color? Should it be an orange/red/neutral base? How do I get more precise color on dark textured hair? I'm finding that my cilents come out with darker color than desired...😒
