Many thanks for this video. Very straightforward and practical. Even a complete beginner could do a ceramic coating if they closely follow your advice!

Serum Light can be polished or cut off, hence the word light. Some others may need sanding, but most will require a cut to remove.
@ExoticCarDIY3 жыл бұрын
I agree to an extent. If you hit the car with a buffer, it will likely be completely removed after a few passes. However if you mess up and forget to remove an unleveled portion, you will likely have to sand. When I did my wife's Acadia I missed a spot on the roof. It literally had a bunch of those little bumps. I hit it with a buffer and they did not come off. I had to use a little bit of 2000 / 3000 on it.

I can't remember if I said it in the video, but I used to think it was just a gimmick. But once I used it, I was definitely impressed. I do every single one of my cars.

I love merzerna compounds but I refuse to use them before a ceramic coating as its quite oily, and I've seen coatings fail because of that.

Hi. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱. Great video ! Thanks for posting. I just bought a c class convertible and want to do this as well as soon as the weather allows. One question what isn’t clear to me yet: how often do you refresh pad cloths, microfiber “faces” or microfiber cloths ? I assume the coating dries on your fabric surface as well, right? Maybe overthinking this but was curious.
@ExoticCarDIY2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Unless it gets dirty, I use the same ceramic applicator for the whole car, and another applicator for the "top coat" is used all in one day. After 1 use, I discard them. As for the mircrofiber cloths, there is no set rule, but I typically use 6-10 per car. Remember, I use two at a time, 1 for the leveling and a cleaner one to fully remove the residue. I would estimate on avg I use a pair, per 1/4 of the car if that makes sense. Occasionally, you will notice that you are leaving some residue. In that case I'll get a new towel. to make sure its totally wiped clean. After Im done, those towels never touch paint again, they are trash, or rags. You'll will notice the cloths will harden up over a day or so with little cystals.

Great video. Going to use this on my black Escalade ESV. With that said, can I apply this over a week? I would like to apply this to a panel or two per day. Prep work is going to be brutal on a vehicle this size and color.
@ExoticCarDIY3 жыл бұрын
I don't see why you couldn't. By far the prep is going to be the most work. The only issue you may run into is simply You will likely want to use new towels and pads everyday. After the ceramic hardens on the towel, it can get slightly abrasive. Used ceramic towels should be thrown away. After you open CSL, it does have a short shelf life. Usually a few weeks to months. It will start to cloud and even harden up in the bottle. But over a week, you'll be fine

Question; So after the product kinda dries to where the dots kind of start to show, I will begin to kinda level the material off. Should it feel kind of firm? Like kinda hard to remove? Or should it kinda be soft? Like kind of come off real easy like?
@ExoticCarDIY3 жыл бұрын
It should be extremely soft and smooth, almost no drag.

1 full bottle of 30ml is used for the car? I do this on the side and been using Mckee37 10 year and a bottle of 30ml i can do 3 cars with it
@ExoticCarDIY9 ай бұрын
? But sure the reference, but yes, one bottles goes a long way. 3 cars
@daviddup19789 ай бұрын
OK that's what I was wondering because gtechniq told me that 1 30ml bottle can only do 1 car and a 50ml bottle only does 1 truck. So now I know i can do more that 1 vehicle with a bottle. Thanks

Hey! I was wondering if Liqui Moly 5W40 Molygen New Generation Engine Oil is good for our E63's? since it's turbo and not NA, you think Liqui Moly Molygen is bad for the turbos? Let me know! :D I would love to hear your input brother.
@ExoticCarDIY3 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of good oils, I have not particularly read up on liquid moly however. I guess to oversimplify my stance, oil either is providing the needed protection or it's not. Our cars obviously need a premium oil that can handle the high heat from the turbos have the residual lubricating for the start stop etc, and MB AMG has determined that mobil 1 provides that. I will admit however, that I think the interval is too long. I won't let mine go more than 5k miles. I guess that's the main reason I've never switched to AMSoil in any of my cars, since they're claim you can let it go 25 k miles. While their oil may maintain its viscosity that entire period, even changing the filter still going to get really really dirty and black. As a side note, the recommended oil for the Ferrari is Pennzoil Platinum Euro, apparently in the 355 mobil 1 had foaming issues

I thought it was a gimmick for a while, until I tried it, and was quite pleased. I will admit it would be hard to pay someone a $800+ to do it for me, but diy for a hundred bucks is worth it

@@ExoticCarDIY Yes , I think people will watch, and would encourage you to do it. Those who'll watch it will be those viewers which love Mercedes, regardless if they own a Mercedes or not will watch it. Also, Mercedes owners , we tend to look for other Mercedes videos related to our cars, and b/c they know the surface of our cars. Plus, an E63 is a beautiful car. You got this !
