I've got 4c hair and my mum always used to do my hair for me. I know how to plait and twist but not canroe. But my mum was working a lot so she never really had the time to show me. But thank you for doing the cords first, I feel like a lot of time these videos are made by ppl that do consider that although the act of it seems easy, they don't take into account the texture of hair making it difficult when you actually try to do it and these ppl have a lot of practice so I understand why they wouldn't think about it.

Thanks for this video... I must admit I keep struggling with cornrows when I do my 5y old daughters hair (flat twists seem easier); my biggest problem is the length of her hair... it is just so much hair in my fingers :) I keep losing track... could you do a video of cornrows on your long hair ? We do have the RevAir at home... do you prefer blow-out hair for cornrows or manually detangled hair ? big THANKS from Switzerland
@SherreseNana2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment!! I would recommend blowing out the hair if the hair is already very short, just to give it some length OR if you are just a beginner need to make it easier on yourself to learn and practice. Esp if you are struggling with all the tangles and curls in the process and are getting fustrated haha. Yessss!! Long hair is alottttt 😭😭 the key is to pause and finger detangle with the one free hand you’ve got, in between each braid AND keep the sections and other hairs separate as you are cornrowing. Hard to explain but hopefully we can get a video out soon to show you how visually! 👍🏼💙 Much love to Switzerland!!!!
@liviangell30243 жыл бұрын
So when you get to the end of each row if you do it correctly will it just stay? No rubber bands or anything ? Going to attempt to do my sons hair. Thank you so much for the video !!
@SherreseNana2 жыл бұрын
It depends on your hair type and texture! The lower you are on the “curl type chart” or the looser your curls, the less it will stay. Type 3&4 hair will stay without rubber bands, but those with 3a or lower for example will most likely need rubber bands. It comes down to how tight/loose his curls are, as that’s what holds the ends to each other and keeps it from falling out. Hope that helps!

Is there a benefit to braiding this way vs cornrow braiding with index fingers?
@SherreseNana5 жыл бұрын
Nope, only benefit is the the look/style of it. Cornrow braiding will look very much different from index braid, as cornrows are attached to the head.
@goaskher85 жыл бұрын
Sherrese Slone index braid? I feel like when I do it it looks the same as what you’re doing and most people who cornrow do it the way I’m describing but you’re the first person I see braid this way with your hands in that angle and middle fingers grabbing the hair instead of index fingers and thumbs. Definitely hard to get the hang of it but just was trying to figure out if it’s better for any reason?
@SherreseNana5 жыл бұрын
Ohhh I get what your saying, sorry thought you meant the diff between regular braid and cornrow. Honestly middle finger is just the way I learned to cornrow personally, I honestly don’t know why I do it that way haha. I don’t think there’s necessarily any benefit to doing it with middle finger (that I know of). I actually never braided with index finger before and haven’t tried to only cause I’m so use to doing it this way and I get good braids as a result, that I didn’t feel the need to try it the way most people do. But your question made me mad curious now, so I’m going to try using index fingers and see if there’s any real difference or benefit , which one easier etc, and will definitely get back to you!!
@goaskher85 жыл бұрын
Sherrese Slone thanks! I’ve been trying your way when I braided my daughter today and it was not good lol i couldn’t keep it tight but with my way it was good haha! So I’ll probably stick to it. But I did notice that I might have to use your method if I ever have to braid the back of my head from bottom up so I’ll see :)
