I wish the instructions were better. Bring the hair in. In where? In to the left side? The right side? The middle? This isn't the best teaching.

@@tinaw.6178 ok i'll try to help u out..my hair i short and wavy and i know how to canerow, trust me its easy..my hair has waves and is super hard to work with but im guessing u have curly hair so its wayyy easier to work with..i suggest putting your hands over ur head insted of putting ur hands on the side of ur hair..yes it does hurt more but just try it might just be easier and what u should do is when u part it into three u need to keep it super small so it can start at the top of ur head like hers did..when u have 3 small pieces now take either the left or the right and put it under the middle now do the same with the opposite side..if u did right first ur doing left again and u know...as soon as thats down u either take the left or the right and hold that along with a small piece and put it under the middle section and just for better explanation purposes...lets just say u take the right piece up with A SMALL AMOUT OF HAIR u need to put it under the middle section and u will now need to take the left piece up and do the same! Its really easy and i hope u understand what i mean..just ssaying this is what works for my hair and urs may be different bc as i said im white and have wavy ass hair that does its own thing and have this style in like 4days a week lol and hope this helped and if u kinda still dont undertand it i would suggest looking at Naptural85's video on how to cornrow..there she shows u how to do it with yarn and its colour coded so its super easy, thats actually where i learned to cornrow from! Hope this helped and i suggest watching her video and keep practicing!!! It makes perfect (we're all in quarantine im guessing so im pretty sure u'll have a bunch of time to practice and perfect it,sorry its soo long

it's rare that i leave comments.. however, this video was extremely helpful. i've been trying to learn how to cornrow for years and i finally got it after watching this video countless times and practicing over and over... within about 5 hours i was able to understand and get comfortable with the movements. i appreciate that you broke it down step by step and taught good skills from the beginning because my 3 cornrows came out fairly neat and tight from the start. that sets this video apart from many others i've watched. i will definitely send my non braiding friends to see this video because it helped so much. for those still struggling.. i think it's helpful to walk into this with a positive mindset. pay attention to your errors and focus on working on that part before moving on. you can control your frustration by practicing deep breaths and taking breaks when you get overwhelmed. lastly, practice consistently and you will get it. if i can, then you absolutely can too. happy braiding

I'm glad to know I'm not the only black woman who doesn't know how to cornrow her own hair 🤦🏽‍♀. I have twin sisters who are younger than me and they both know how. They have been braiding my hair for years but its a pain in the butt begging one of them to do it 🙄 and they make me feel bad that I still don't know how to myself 🤷🏽‍♀ So don't give up ladies. After watching countless videos, I realize that its really about practice. I've actually cornrowed 1 braid all the way back and even though it was sloppy I'm not giving up. Practice makes perfect sista's!

The reason we have two different words for the same style is based on the food con-sealing in the hair style during slavery. corn 🌽 🌾 was there largest export in America and sugarcane was the largest import from Jamaica. So we have Cornrow and Canerow

I WANTED TO COMMENT ON YOUR VIDEO BECAUSE!!!! I have told people and said to myself for soooo many years that I cannot cornrow my own hair! I COULD NOT DO THE TRADITIONAL METHOD!!!! I would literally cry trying to do it! Using the MIDDLE FINGER changed my life. I did my whole head after one video and was amazed!! Thank you sooooooo much!!!

You have to let your hands have eyes that your fingertips see. Sometimes when you do your hair it's sometimes close your eyes and feel your hair.

The camera flip, so that the viewer could mirror you, was such a helpful way to make this video more accessible to those of us that have problems with patterns. Also calling attention to which of your hands was the right and left was critical as well as showing which fingers were important and why.

🫣 I have been a Hair factory for 10 years and I did not practice like that before ,It’s so much skills !! Everyday I just deal with hair customers and ship hair for them , you can’t believe in China 🇨🇳 we don’t have that skilled workers ! I would share your videos to my Hair customers and let them learn too ! ❤️

Wow I’m literally sitting here after 25 years, cornrowing my hair for the first time. I just kept coming back to your videos because the way you teach was sticking. And I realized I had been watching people cornrow OTHER peoples hair and not their own and that’s why I was getting confused. I love your technique because it allows me to smooth out the tangles with a free hand and I don’t lose my place. The cornrows aren’t perfectly defined but will help me in applying my first wig and this seemed like the hardest part lol

Sis I could kiss you! I haven’t got it 100% yet buttt the progress is real! Few more tried and I should be there. Anyone watching, a tip that helped me was to slow this video down a bit using the settings button. I also listened to what she said and closed my eyes and did a few (this is because there’s times I thought I was doing it right but then when I just listened to what she said, I clocked I wasn’t!) Hope this helps 😌 I’ll be back to watch your other videos when I’ve conquered this one 😅

Omg I got it😭😭😭 unbelievable. Tips: let your fingers do their own thing don’t necessarily try to follow her lead step by step, I think they instinctually start feeling the rhythm. Don’t look at the mirror except for clarity cos it’ll confuse you. And good luck✨❤️

So first of all, thank you! This the BEST tutorial I have come across. I was sold once you flipped the perspective and did the mirror effect. It made it make sense and able to grasp the concept A LOT easier. It's going to take some practice but thank you for taking the time out to make this video. Also your hair is beautiful!!!

I watched tons of KZbin tutorials. I finally know how to do it because of you. Hand positioning is the key. If you can angle your hand like what she does it will go automatically. It took me almost 1 month. I almost go bald in the front because my hair are falling from practicing. 😂😂😂 thank you.

THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!! I can do a lot of things, but cornbraids have never been among my skillset! I could plat and French braid someone else’s hair, but never my own. I took my sew-in out so that I could wash my hair. I’ve relocated to a new area and the one lady I met who agreed to braid my hair for me so that I could put my sew-in back in blew me off. So, my last ditch effort to get my hair looking acceptable again was to find a tutorial on KZbin. Thank God this video was close to the top!!! The last time I braided my own hair and did my sew-in it took me 12 hours over 2 days and my braids were unraveling- it was awful. After watching your video, I cornbraided my whole head (except for the leave out) in 3 hours. Ma’am, you’re a Godsend- I could kiss you! LoL You’re an awesome teacher and you’ve got a new subscriber!

Cornrows tight to the scalp, were always a challenge for me. I watched this video yesterday and cornrowed my entire head in preparation for these crochet passion twists I'm adding back (I went to get my hair crocheted two weeks ago and within a week they were falling out.) I'll never have to pay to get crochet again. Thank you for the amazing lesson!
