This sort of content is great Liam You started off with the mishaps, where we can all sympathise with, then you did some maths, which is boring but it needs to be done, the sad news about Amelia 😞, more maths, but this time with a bit of plastic, more maths because it's important (and I did wonder why you hadn't calculated the mortar course in the height) even MORE maths, but this time on the internet and all topped off with a bit of Full Monty Real life stuff, the struggles of the build, unforseen circumstances and even the joys of getting the build out of the ground Can't guarantee I'll watch as soon as they are posted, but I'll watch 👍

Your x5 140mm blocks do add up to 700mm, but you’ve also got the mortar depth, to add onto that figure. So great, you should end up around the height you want, and hopefully require less blocks. Oops! Sorry Liam, I commented before the end of the video. RIP Amelia, my condolences to Amelia’s family and friends x

Using 140mm trench blocks wont work for the bricks on the outside as you need to be 150mm below dpc level to ground level and you need to fold your membrane over and 150mm below dpc. I always set my first peg so it works bricks and blocks, then level around. As for £180 per metre cube of concrete, thats around what i pay in S wales. Good luck with the build. 👍
@thegardenroomguru7 ай бұрын
thanks for that mate, stop blocks at how many course? thanks
@stephenjohns35057 ай бұрын
Your at a bit of a sticky height with 700mm. Nothing works. You could see if u can lay 3 courses of block at 225 per course and course of bricks and have the membrane folding down one course. The other option, which i try and do on most jobs so u dont have a step in, is put a rain water drain in with a low threshold cill, so it all flows, if that makes sense. So basically you dont have a step down of 150mm when u step out the doors.
