Thank you for your question! The FRTLZR® Fret Polishing Kit includes various grits for different levels of polishing. While the finer grits (like 1500 and above) are designed for smooth polishing and won't significantly reduce fret height, the 400 grit can indeed remove a small amount of material from the frets. This is useful for eliminating deeper scratches and oxidation but should be used sparingly to avoid lowering the frets too much. For regular maintenance and to ensure you don't remove too much material, it's best to start with a higher grit like 1500 or 3000 and only use the 400 grit when necessary for more stubborn blemishes.
