I choose charcoal as my primary medium. I'm actually struggling with it. I'm using soft Faber Castle Charcoal. I don't want to rely first on blending. As much as possible I want to learn to render mechanically. But the lines are too broken up, I blame sometimes the texture of the paper. When I watch proko videos, it seems like the lines that is being created by his Charcoal on the paper his using is too smooth and consistent. Is there a paper suitable for charcoal drawing? Or any paper will do??
