Oh. My. Word. Wow! Don't you love the feeling of looking at something you've made and thinking "I did that? Yep, I did that!" Because that gown is astounding. (I also love that lobster bustles just make everyone shake their tail feathers)

YES. This is one of those projects that I feel really shows me exactly how far I've come. Thrilled!

I saw you pleating into the armscye and I screamed out loud!! I hate that you had to unpick, but the end result was more than worth the extra work! Great job!

Totally worth it, and hopefully no one else has to do it. Thank You! Deeply pleased with the results.

Nora! This came out fantastic and keep in mind if you look inside a bodice from 1880s the inside would have looked just like this. SOme even had loads of raw edges.

Once upon a time, a friend showed me pictures of sewn button holes. I felt completely good and fine after that.

Something you could do for hand bound eyelets, similar to how i do buttonholes: do a regular plain ol metal grommet set into the garment, then use a buttonhole silk twist to go over and simply cover the metal. For buttonholes, i machine a basic pattern, enough to give me a good raised layer to work with and the buttonhole twist lays so nicely. And no one has to know any different 👀

This was a lot of fun to watch! I have some similar projects in mind once I save up to buy the needed items. Though my period pieces tend to be sepates that I blend into my modern wardrobe and not care what others think. We tend to be our worst critics and see flaws that most miss. Be good to yourself. The next one will be better because experience is the best teacher. My first ones, I often call prototypes. You've done well in ths project. Thank you for sharing this video 😊.

That. Is. Stunning. How does one gush properly. The Grannies were Olympic level sewing. So, yes, more; keep going. Hope all is well with you. Take care. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

The inside has no raw seams?! That's so EXTRA. And I love it! Entirely practical, considering this is a gown I hope you'll get to wear many times for events, and can someday be sold or traded to other event attendees. But... as you know the originals didn't do that kind of seam finishing. There was no need or intent for them to last that long.

Hi, I started making my wife an 1820 dress I saw on pinterest. By the time I made the pattern, all the under bits & worked out how to put it together, it has taken 4 months. I'm onto the last of it now. As I'm well I into my 70s my sewing speed has slow down😢 unfortunately. Your gown is fantastic 😊
