Magnolia Grandiflora and it's cultivars are Evergreen and Summer Flowering, the large flowers have a delicious fragrance of Lemon. M.grandiflora is a North american species and not Asiatic, and does very well in the warmer parts of Britain and the Urban Heat islands. I planted one for a client in Chiswick and it did very well on a wall! I only have to hear mention of Port Isaac and inside my head the lovely voice of John Betjemin starts to recite. As I live quite close to the Lands End, like many of my friends, we are very concerned at the survival of it's enchanting beauty. A lovely video.
