This is the most competitive era in NBA history and Steph is the preeminent player on the dynasty of our times. Hence, the GOAT. No one in their right mind would think that a 1990's MJ could perform like this, in the most evolved version of the game. Jaylen Brown can do anything that MJ could, and he ain't bad either.
@zihuatenejo

I agree with the competitive era stuff, but you cant compare jalen brown to mj, its not even close, if you watch mj's videos, he moves so robotically, fast and just a killing machine. "this is the most competitive era" ...far from it. Early -mid '00s and late '80s had more 60+ win teams going at each other. This the COVID era - first of all. It is also the era of small-ball and it's severe shot-balance problems. It is also the era of the 1-and-done on social media - so players show a lack discipline, are distracted more than ever, and lack any long term experience playing in any system. It is also the era with the most team-hopping and 'who he play for' like never before. Maybe 1% of players spend even 5 years with the same team now. Teams have less style, less personality and NO long-term identity as a consequence. I keep at it because once in a while there are still some great games - but this era can't change into a better one fast enough.

Steph has had everyone fooled for quite some time now. They think he's soft, slow, weak, bad defensively, can't attack the rim, etc. He's none of that, in fact, he's practically the opposite of all that. They talk about it sometimes, but his work ethic is MJ/Kobe level, he's a maniac. The amount of off-season work he puts in would probably blow all our minds. That constant contact has been the playbook on Curry for years now - it’s never been called. Steph's shot at 3:00 was simply breathtaking, for me one of the most skillful shots I've ever seen. It was not simply a throw up and hope for the best shot, it was a shot where Steph had to calculate White's defense pushing him to the base line and towards Williams. Williams', the shot blocker of the Finals, had a free path to block the shot and at least intimidate and change the trajectory of Steph's shot. You can see that Williams skied to where his head almost touched the rim. And that was no regular floater where Steph's momentum carried the ball, Steph had to adjust his path and more so had to jump straight up, and added a pump fake causing him to pause in the air as he make the shot - no momentum there to help that "floater" - I personally would not even call the shot a floater. THEN he banked the shot off the highest point of the backboard, AND released the ball with such feather touch that the ball angle off the backboard was almost straight down. This was no monster slam dunk due to great physical talent and height, no throw up of a shot and pray, it was a shot where Steph was in full control - calculating White's push, Willams as an obstacle, ball trajectory as Steph jumped, pumped, and paused in the air - SIMPLY AMAZING. I doubt most of the fans in Boston Garden and TV viewer noticed how great this shot was. Great that this video broke down this shot in slow-mo. Steph is my favorite player of all time - and I've been a NBA fan since Bill Russell and Jerry West days.

Steph has the oppurtunity to shut down all his naysayers in one series. He's playing a healthy Boston, reached another finals without KD, dropped a clutch iconic finals performance that people have criticized him for not doing, has the oppurtunity to win another ring without KD, while KD is yet to win a ring without Steph...and his defence has improved tremendously so the "doesn't defend" argument is losing strenght. It's amazing.

I think their drop coverage on the three is a denial of the roll or the drive but more on the former. We haven't seen much of it all series long. They refuse to double and trap Steph, banking on the mistakes the Warriors make, basically playing the percentages. I get the logic behind it--take away their bread and butter, eliminate a 4v3 disadvantage, eliminate their ball movement. They've seen how the West defended it and probably saw that it crushed their opponents. But you shouldn't do that on Curry, as evident. The beauty of the Warriors offense is it is versatile. I believe this is the reason Draymond's assists have been down. He's not the distributor on a potential 4v3, which he excels at. And when the Celtics trapped and doubled him late in the fourth, they've had no success. The Warriors are simply great at exploiting that advantage. I think the Celtics can use their length and athleticism to disrupt the pass on the roll if they decide to use it later. Steph can be a pretty careless passer, often opting for the overhead pass instead of the pocket. Excited to see how the rest of the series pans out.

You nailed it on this one unlike those casuals bruh... It's like when I said that GS can afford to let Jokic averaged 40ppg against them instead of him keeps getting double figures in his assists. Turned out that his highest assists on that series was 6, and it translated to GS's easy W. I know that it's different and Denver plays different game than GS, but the logic still applies I think. Boston *wisely* choose not to double Curry bcos Warriors will thrive even more if Curry keeps making those hockey assists to Draymond and they get so much 4 on 3 offensive possessions. Just like Kenny said some times ago, you defend Steph the right way instead of over-compensating for his presence, contest his shots as best as you can, and if they still win based on Curry makes all of those shots, then all you can do is just shake his hands after the game ends. Ppl who mocks Boston's defensive approach rn are nothing but casuals who don't really understands the game.
