CHOICES is the portrait of an exceptional sportswoman who is not afraid to make decisions and who approaches her life as she approaches her climbing projects - as willing to compromise as necessary and as uncompromisingly as possible: Steph Davis.

I was having breakfast by myself in a cafe in Moab. I heard a table of women laughing and I looked in that direction. Steph looked at me and smiled a beautiful one. I nodded back. It was great to see her happy, it added to my day.

@@weeedy1369 I think it was not allowed to climb on any named Arches in the park at that time. But I am not an expert on that. Potter soloed the arch several times. His wife, Steph Davis, snapped some photos of the ascent, and Lynch returned with a video camera to capture the climb on film. rockandice.com/lates-news/dean-potter-on-laws-modern-america-and-soloing-delicate-arch/

@snakedike
@snakedike 4 жыл бұрын
@@networkbike543If memory serves, he claimed to have found a way to climb and exit the arch without causing any damage. It may have been true but ranger's noticed new rope scars they believed he had left and the whole of the climbing community turned on him for years. It was pretty ugly. Not only did Davis get implicated by association there were climbing groups boycotting Patagonia as he had been one of there climbers at the time. I think climbing it was clearly a case of bad judgement but I've always given him the benefit of the doubt as far as leaving damage. But I don't think Steph or the video production folks are trashing him here. She took a horrendous hit during that period and is just recounting that part of her life honestly as opposed to glassing it over.

Absolutely. I've learned to appreciate the work and knowledge of those whom also learned back in the film days. It really shows. Most striking was that both shallow depth of field with bokeh and shallow depth of field without bokeh were employed. Very few people who learn today grasp the difference and why it is both useful and important.

Mixed feeling on this, there is no doubt she is an incredible climber- athlete, but lets be honest if your main interest are high end climbing-soloing, BASE jumping and wingsuit flying as is your partners you fate is pretty much sealed. I understand some have to push it but luck does and will run out. She is one hell of climber and that is for sure, she is living the way she needs to live I suppose.
