Reputation plays a big part in this. If any Joe drops in on Steph at Snapper then he would hear it from the crowd. She earned that respect
@michaelb786411 ай бұрын
Snapper has become one of the biggest joke of a spots if not the biggest joke in the surfing world. You can put it up there with Malibu it’s not even worth going out. There’s thousands of breaks around the world that are less crowded. Anyone who wants to surf that pile of humans on top of humans can have it
@goofymcadams11 ай бұрын
On shore sloppy you'll still never find it empty... On bigger days it gets regulated a bit more. But not enough.. Just some yelling and no one learns..

I'm old 62 I've had fun in all kinds of waves the best surfers who are there all the time will always get the best waves. Unless you're Medina. I don't think that will ever change no matter how crowded it gets

i’m 41 and i definitely agree. spending time in the water, knowing the spot, and being phisically fit, make you a more competent surfer and therefore quickly read whatever the situation is to your benefit

I was in a coffee shop in rainbow bay years ago and the barista asked the local how his surf was He said the lineup was packed beyond belief but then laughed and told her he just drops in on anyone and anytime. These are the kind of assholes ya gotta share the lineup with these days.
@andrewthomas69510 ай бұрын
When I was a grommet, women didn't surf. Looking back, that now seems weird, and a bit sad. Glad it's changed. But the crowds are so much worse now, making surfing akin to the mayhem of the city, rather than a place to escape it.

❤ lovely lovely steph steph. i miss you and your sweet lil face and smile (on my youtube, since weve never met :) im still waiting for a mermaid country club invitation :) and there's nothing wrong with being a '5'. you are so good now that whatever wave you do take, you surf better and very elegant than being hectic and groveling for multitudes. oh, that yellow board looks so perfect, regarding its length, size, and shape.very stable, solid, and drivey. and, at least you go to spots, crowds or not, that have actual rideable waves. my current 'break of choice', mostly due to atmospheric vibes and lack of crowds (which is telling) is a lil spot i like to call 'skulls', because its like a perfect lil teahupo, but not at all and shallow not rideable sort of dangerous for surfboards (i need a board i can drop in and go straight and beat up straight into the sand without worrying about destroying my new precious pro surfer model CI) beach break with fin destroying pebbles, especially for late drop cant quite paddle into misleading closeouts cant stand up due to painful physical conditions type surfers :) its such a heavy spot, especially when its 4-5 feet and pumping :)

Horrible stance to take. There's a massive coastline with all kinds of waves and you have found peace in the human sewage? Why not find uncrowded waves to focus on the best wave riding for you rather than being top poo? Wayne Lynch is a great example as to not worrying about what's current. Tom curren, Slater ffs there's so many top examples of why to do you and stop being the local hero and just go surfing for the sake of riding waves. Take a lesson from old school skaters still respected.

It happens that most surfers are people who have to work, eat and provide for a family and it happens that most people who are able to do it live in cities. More people in cities = less people elsewhere, better to keep like that
