@@Plingu698 That was so interesting! I grew up quite catholic (being Austrian), but I never came across the English version of this prayer. In German, it's just "guilt" (Schuld) which is similar to the word debt (Schulden), so I was also a bit confused as a kid. Cute that your obsession for words started so early!

All we will have to do is 'connect ID' when opening social media apps, and those apps will show us the content we are entitled to see. No fear of data theft either because the app will not be able to take any information from the user, apart from the fact that he/she is an adult. Children will not have access to adult content. It does away with the need for passwords too so that is great.

His comments about the dog name are wordplay joke - they have named the dog after Hans Solo’s sidekick in Starwars - but they called it the ‘species’ - ie. The side kick IS a wookie… maybe the dog looks a bit like a wookie… but the wookie is named Chewbaka - Chewy for short - and dogs/puppies chew things… so he is joking that if they called it Chewy it might be more fitting! Thank you for the helpful advice: to take responsibility for one's actions, do the thing (whatever the thing is that demonstrates that ownership), and accept the consequences. Simple to write. Difficult to achieve if one's orientation is towards: fear of that process, resentment, belief in one's inability to do the tasks, or any of the multitude of opposing directions leading away from the initial step of ownership. Has Stephan ever owned responsibility for any negative outcome he has generated? If I had a mailing address for you I'd send you a sample of the root beer candy. They are brown barrel-shaped hard candies and last a long time. Strongly flavored, most people either like it or hate it. Starting a Sunday with a video covering a story about trespasses, the Lord's Prayer, and recollections of your elderly neighbor was a real delight. Are you familiar with the periodical "Reminisce"? It's a nostalgia magazine that is written by its readers, (which I believe is only an online version) would be a great venue for your introductory stories. Or, submit them to Reader's Digest. Just a little thought I had for spreading a portion of your product farther afield. I like the addition of the violin symbol, it is a shorthand for your commentary on the purpose of the statement. I didn't realize you were color coding. Thank you also for the stronger statement about deception discernment/suspicion via the McClish/Halliday. I definitely will rewatch earlier videos with a notebook. It is easy to passively sit back and watch you lay it all out. I am reminded that for me, learning requires active engagement (such as notetaking or filing in the blank to questions you present). I think the Chewie and Wookie name thing is a connection to "Star Wars" (Chewbaca and wookies were characters in the films). That would jive with the sort of materials SS is interested in, too. Do his parents share those interests? I have known foster pet owners to name new offspring almost anything, just to be able to id them from each other: Our cat's children were all named after different species of berries, for example. Re: Ol'45, I gave over a good portion of my time yesterday to that whole event and a raging thunderstorm. Today I am very glad to have my mind on something more uplifting (which I find in these educational videos). Before yesterday's storm, I watched a long form in-depth documentary about the play/film/source material for "Cabaret", the rise of fascism in Germany, and the rise of strong man politicians in US/world at large. I can recommend the documentary, it's on the David J Bradley channel and title starts with "Why should I wake up?" On your the reference to the play/film by Alan Bennett, I just saw Patricia Routledge portrayed the main character (!). I'll have to find this version of the production. If anyone is interest in launching their own production, the license is $65/performance which seems a reasonable rate to me. Mr. Bennett made the monologue his specialty and is especially expert at it according to reviews I found. Again, thank you very much, Bob! PS sorry to be so longwinded, hope some of this is useful to you. At some point I will start up a "response" channel on YT and move all my comments there with attached source material.

I'll venture a guess as to what part of the Bible he's been reading. The book of Acts has two accounts of prisoners being supernaturally released from prison due to the prayers of the apostles and fellow believers. Acts 12:5-11 describes an angel miraculously releasing Peter from prison and "delivering" him from King Herod the night before his trial. Acts 16: 25-34 tells of an earthquake that opens the prison doors and breaks all the prisoners' chains (as a result of their prayer and singing). I'll speculate he has read the book of Acts and has identified with these unjustly accused prisoners. Whether or not he truly believes the stories, he would like others to identify him that way as well.
@Plingu698
@Plingu698 Ай бұрын
@@Cykey1111-dv2ty thanks, that is fascinating for two reasons- it would fit right in with Stephan's warped perception of himself as a victim. But more personally for me, those references you make are motifs that occur in the older literature of the Greeks- for instance the imprisonment of the son of God...Dionysus son of Zeus that is! I believe his chains miraculously fell off, and an earthquake destroyed the walls of his imprisonment so that he could escape, if I remember correctly.

@@Plingu698 Wow! It's pretty much the same story. The Book of Acts was originally written in Greek, and the author and audience would be familiar with that tale. Must I now unpack the difference between temporal and eternal punishment? Temporal punishment is merciful, in that it satisfies justice (up to a point) and is still a requirement even for forgiven sinners, i.e. sinners who are "let off" of eternal punishment. This is the doctrine of Purgatory. I can forgive you for ruining my garden, and still ask you to pay for it to be restored, which you would want to do, if you were penitent. As a believer, I say that some conduct is right, which is not at all the same thing as asserting that my conduct is right. "The law forbids stealing" does not equal "I never steal." So if you catch me stealing I am indeed a thief, but not a hypocrite.

No I'm not religious but I am interested in the Bible as an extremely important cultural artefact that still has enormous influence on us today. The Bible is by no means to be scorned, but neither should it be divorced from its typological lineage and treated differently from other texts in the sequence.
