Stephanie could be very manipulative too and she stole Eric away from Brook's mom so it made since that she would lie about the baby. You can't call every secret that's revealed later a rewrite. Writers have carte blanche on where they choose to take the story and characters. I remember all of the soap critics and magazine calling it a very compelling and well done story to have Ridge not be Eric's son. The Marone's were great addition to the show for a time.

This is why Brooke called Stephanie manipulative. Stephanie tracked Steven Logan, Brooke's father, and made him come back to his family in Los Angeles. Then when Stephanie realized Beth Logan might still end up with Eric, she arranged for Steven Logan to get a job in Paris. Beth choose her husband. When Beth left for Paris she took all her kids but Brooke and Storm Logan. So in Brooke's eye, Stephanie shipped her whole family out of town. And back then the Logans were as close as could be. So yes, Brooke considered the Queen Witch a master manipulator.

Nice to see Brooke telling Stephanie off. She had it coming for here. She would often have a go at Brook over the years, but at times she was no better herself, sometimes even worse. Always trying to shape here family into here vision of right and wrong, telling her sons who they could date, and marriage. Everything had to be just right in her mind. I think Eric got feed up with that, and that is one of the reasons why he married Brook. She was not like that at all. She liked Eric just the way he was. I like Brooke because she is not perfect, no one is. That is one of the things that really made her as a character. Great acting here from both Susan Flannery and Katherine Kelly Lang. Who became good friends over the years. And so did Brook and Stephanie towards the last years of Stephanie`s life.

To ad a bit more to the story. Many years later we found out that Stephanies father treated her like shit and abused her. That explains to some degree why she treated others like she did at times. But you could argue she knew all those years that she had problems and yet she took it out on others for many years before seeking help. If something goes wrong, blame it on others, let them be the guilty ones. This is not healthy. And what is morale? That is something defined by Stephanie Forrester. Something that everyone else has to live by, in order to maybe get her approval, or not. Brooke almost never got that approval, even when she did right by Stephanies book of right and wrongs. But she was in part responsible for ending her marriage to Eric in the way she treated him at times, and the kids. She cared to much for them at times. Perhaps more than she cared for him. He got feed up with that, among other things. Imagine coming home from work, and you get treated like a criminal by your wife, accused of things you never did. No wonder he fell in love with Brooke. And yes they had an affair, and yes they got married. Much to the shook, anger and horror of Stephanie. Brooke did not steal Eric from Stephanie, she managed to loose him all by herself. No one is saying that Brooke is perfect, far from it. But she is better than a lot of people want her to be. Especially Stephanie. And remember this is a tv soap, not real life. And every story has two sides, not just the one side, like some would like us to belive.
