My theory is this. Eric & Stephanie got married in 1952 shortly before Ridge was born. Eric continued to work as a Tailor in his Father's Shop and in 1962 they started Forrester using his Father's Shop. It took off in 1967 and in 1987 when the show debuted, Forrester was in production for 20 years.

Millionaire Mr. John Douglas father of Mrs. Stephanie Douglas Forrester was the founder of Forrester Creations and his daughter Mrs. Stephanie Douglas Forrester was the co-founder and owner of Forrester Creations and Eric Forrester was his wife Stephanie lead designer all at the expense of Ridge they got married and Eric Forrester went from poverty to a millionaire and Forrester Creations was built and run by the Douglas family, if Stephanie would of not gotten married so fast the company would of been called Douglas Creations and Eric Forrester hide the legal ownership documents to Forrester Creations in his safe, because he wanted to steal Stephanie company from her and Ridge after Stephanie father Mr. John Douglas died.

John forced Quinn to relinquish it to him. A new wedding to be planned, at a family dinner, thrown by John, he shows his brother how little Quinn has changed. He reveals the secret, Quinn has been keeping , Ridge is truly, Eric's firstborn child, not Massimo Maroney. The letter from the lab, with the legal implications on Beth Logan, tinkering with the samples. A new test from an earlier blood drawing proved that Eric was Ridge's natural father. John proved that Eric knew and so did Ivy.

correction on me, It proved that Ivy knew as long as Quinn knew, that Ridge was Eric's firstborn biological son. There was no excuse for her to keep the secret, from Eric. Eric is heartbroken, and goes away with John, who isn't pleased with his daughter at the moment. Steffy also realizes that Wyatt had known for a short period of time also, and kept it. Ivy desperate to keep Liam, with Quinn's assistance, sets up Steffy and has her found in bed with $Bill Spencer, ending husband engagement to Brooke, and a rack of undeserved malice, from her family. The truth is discovered by RJ, who is convinced by Ivy to keep the secret to get h u still heart's desire, the reunion of his parents. So, Steffy pays the price, Quinn is walking on whisper thin ice, one more manipulation, one more lie, and she loses any chance with Eric. They marry on Halloween, where Steffy's only comfort and allies are Thomas and Sasha, and not long after overhearing a conversation while checking on Douglas, the truth about Steffy and her uncle. She debates whether to tell Thomas or not, she doesn't have to, Douglas does, via the record button on Mommy's touch tone cell phone.

@@Alyanasworld Yeah, and a few years prior to that, Eric and Ridge's DNA were so close they had to use Stephanie to rule out that Bridget had any Douglas DNA in her... Ridge being Massimo's son was nothing but a screw up on the writers parts..
