Some people just care more about hanging out with friends and get pissed rather than hire a responsible nanny to look after the kids. Extreme child neglect and endangerment and anyone who thinks leaving their kids in an unlocked apartment whether it be the length of your garden or not, you are basically killing your own kids! It’s sick and those people shouldn’t be able to be parents. I really hope Maddie is ok and is found soon. If it’s come to her being killed, I say. R.I.P Maddie :( it’s sick that you have such selfish sick parents.

Seriously, thank you for calling out the parents' irresponsibility! That's what irritated me the most when this case first came to light. There were enough of them that one person could've stayed with the kids each night, rotating so each of them could've had several nights out at the bar. Absolutely no excuses.

It might pay to have someone else check this over before posting it. Also maybe do some more research as the most important part of the lead up to the ‘disappearance ‘ was the afternoon. Which was just skimmed over in this video. If you had gone back over all the Tapas 7’s statements, there were many discrepancies in their accounts.

Not to mention, even if we're excluding the risk of kidnapping or external danger - We all know how dangerous it is to leave such young children unattended! Many parents baby-proof their homes to avoid household hazards that may be harmful to toddlers as they have no concept of their own well-being. What if one of the children had taken a fall? What if one of them had wandered outside? Even in a basic hotel room, there are many items such as a plugged in cord that would pose major risks to unattended children! Kids get into EVERYTHING - They had to have known better! Look, I don't have children of my own and might never become a parent but there's NO WAY I would leave my children unattended in a foreign country. Even if this had happened at home in the UK - If the Mccanns had gone out to a pub accross from their home, it still would've been an example of gross negligence! It baffles me that they left the door UNLOCKED - C'mon! You're not even safeguarding your own children from possibly wandering out of the room! You'd think the parents would've been aware of these risks - Being doctors who were presumably trained in basic childcare. According to their version of events - Which I am honestly reluctant to believe - The blatant neglect demonstrated by the Mccanns is the most damning evidence of how little thought given to their children's well-being. Even if I were to give them the overwhelming benefit of the doubt, the sickening displays of neglect are proof of dangerous ignorance AT LEAST! Everyone knows that it only takes a few seconds for a tragedy to occur if young children are left unattended. No matter their intentions, this negligence resulted in the presumed death/kidnapping of a child. No matter how guilty they feel, a child - THEIR child went missing! Even if we disregard all of the suspicious post-disappearance behavior such as the disturbing contents of the published book- The Mccanns are NOT fit parents. I can't believe that they are still allowed to go on raising their kids like anyone else. If we take them at their word - Which, I do not - This never should've happened. This could've been prevented had they locked the door, paid for the babysitting service or made any number of reasonable choices to protect the well-being of their children 😡

Off topic, but is anyone really surprised at Clement Freud situation? Freud himself was a sexual pervert, and you can look at the pattern in that particular family. Sigmund Freud, father of psychology and tampering with minds. His nephew was Edward Bernays, who was the father of PR/propaganda, who specialized in getting people to act counter to their own self-interests (specifically women). His nephew is Marc Randolph, father of streaming entertainment, founder and first CEO of Netflix. When you put together the individual pieces, the puzzle becomes more clear, and the answer emerge to questions like "why would Netflix make something like 'Cuties' and defend it endlessly while it's costing them tons of subscribers". Because it's not about "entertainment"; it's behavioral modification and perception influence.

I was blown away too! I was always under the impression that they had a clear shot of the apartment across the pool, and that it was a 90 sec walk, basically just to walk AROUND the pool. But that map showed a whole different scenario! I don't think anyone can dispute they were neglectful. I think that's why they were so damn defensive and so misleading; to deflect away from their neglectfulness. But all they managed to do was make themselves look like they actually killed her or got rid of her. They should have been 100% forthcoming from the moment it was discovered she was missing, came clean and admit they should have never left their children alone, show their feelings of guilt, regret, remorse. Those are feelings we can relate to as human beings. But instead they were defending every move, every decision they made, and that made them look like shitty ass parents, and when the public thinks u are shitty parents and your child is missing, it's not a stretch to begin to believe they were involved in her disappearance. They hurt themselves and they hurt the investigation by acting the way they did and making excuses for their actions that night

@@tordyclark Let's answer that shall we? IF she was kidnapped (doubtful) it was because her selfish parents left her and her siblings alone in an OPEN ground floor apartment in a foreign country for hours on end every night. Told everyone within hearing distance that they'd done so. Lied about the door being open. Refused to put them into the safety of childcare. Disobeyed police instructions every chance they got. What does this have to do with the person who kidnapped her? The parents, who did such a good job of making it happen they would have been better off making an appointment for the hand over.

Can you imagine what would happen if anyone else ( as in not connected and working class) left their child alone and sedated whilst they went out to drink & socialise. Even if in their own home familiar to the children. They would be investigated at great speed. They would probably be charged for using sedation for convenience alone. So what that the parents were doctors, the sedation of their own children should have had the oversight of another clinician. Was the sedation prescribed by another paediatric physician? If not it is a clear conflict of interest and concerning practice.

Wtf? If it was a comfort thing then surely it should be IN the bag, because it's for you and your comfort only? " It was just like dining in your garden " - " We checked every 20 minutes " - " Cadaver dogs aren't reliable enough " etc etc - Not once does he show any real remorse. Any parent should be / would be blaming themselves ( if their child had been abducted ) and could never live with what they had allowed to happen by their sheer, unforgivable negligence. The story has far too many flaws and seems too well rehearsed and is always delivered with far too much calculated calm. Actually the video was first published by "The Sun" so probably you can find english articles saying the same about the odour. Dogs don't lie. I don't believe Maddie was killed intentionally but she was definitely killed in that house, personally i imagine something like she was drugged to sleep and the parents could enjoy the night and they used a overdose or something like that. Also one of the men that was with them is a pedofile beliving in what was said by a couple that spent holidays with the Mccanns in Majorca the year before the "disappearance", Martin and Mary Smith, they were also in Portugal with the McCanns at the time and they say that in Majorca they saw Payne having a sexual conversation with Jerry about Maddie. Too many things for someone to believe that the girl is alive or was alive when she leaved the house. Also one old lady that was living, i believe, above the McCanns house in Algarve said she heard a child screaming for like 1 or 2 hours the day before.

And they have given many interviews since their first appearance on TV, always displaying that same careless behavior when it came to Madeleine and showing concern for themselves and a strong need to defend their habit of leaving the children alone instead. I am appalled by Richard Cassidy’s comments about the Roma. This is a population that has been targeted by extreme prejudice for centuries. Mr. Cassidy is merely repeating some of the more cruel biased assumptions about this small migrating group. In fact, the Roma love their children, and their entire community’s are very protective of them. Consider the Roma’s recent tragic history, when they were targeted for extinction by Adolph Hitler. It is estimated that the Germans killed 25% of the European Roma. This kind of trauma resulted in the Roma regarding their children as all the more precious.

Richard Cassidy To leave young children unattended anywhere is inexcusable and there has been absolutely nothing linking Roma people to this case so unless you have evidence to suggest otherwise then maybe you should hold off slandering or accusing a whole group of people based on nothing. There is more evidence via the discrepancies, the sniffer dog results and the actions of the parents that suggest more guilt on their part than there is to suggest an outsider took her.

No matter how it is dressed up, Maddie’s parents are to blame, for leaving Maddie and the boys. I’m pretty sure there are many folk watching this tragic story,😢 who know all about the circumstances of Maddie’s disappearance and rightly so. Sadly, in 2001 a 21 month old British boy named Ben Needham went missing on the Greek island of Crete. The difference in the publicity and funding were so far apart, it was heartbreaking to witness the disparity and lack of media presence and worldwide support for Ben compared with Madeleine’s case. The McCann funding was around £12m plus massive public donations, with the Needham case receiving approx £1m and much less media coverage. Ben was from a council estate, Maddie’s parents being a Dr & surgeon with friends in high paces, shall we say. Bens mother and family were canvassing the island themselves for many years giving out leaflets and sticking up posters and appealing to the help of locals hoping to bring some news of Bens whereabouts. The boy from the council estate was obviously not of great interest to the news and media world, on the other hand, Maddie was at the time, probably the most talked about and reported on little girl in the world. The two childrens stories were equally heartbreaking but sadly, to the media and government officials, Ben was just a poor little boy from a council estate and to many, not worth the air time or ink on the newspapers. Absolutely shameful press coverage and Bens poor mother must feel such hurt and never ending heartache until her last breath. Ben & Maddie, forever in our thoughts 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Absolutely. If they were living in a council estate and went to the nearby bar, leaving the children at home, checking on them every so often (but also getting inebriated) there would be utter outrage. I don't think they had something to do with Madeleine's disappearance, but leaving her and even smaller children unattended... it just blows my mind. Abduction wouldn't even enter my head - just mundane things like one of the kids getting sick, or one of them waking up and being upset about their parents not being there (which actually happened previously!), the older child accidentally hurting a smaller child... it's indefensible. And as for leaving the door unlocked... no words.

Me, my mum, my sister and my cousin were camping this summer, and the people next to us lost their 2 year old daughter while they were just organising their things in their tent. The second they realised their child was gone they were looking for her, they didn't tell their older daughter "she's been taken", they didn't contact relatives. Me and my family helped them look, we found her a few minutes later, she had wondered over the road to the play park. You don't see that authentic panic or stress or fear in any interviews or public appeals from the Mcanns, which is why it's so difficult to believe them.

I stuffed my hand in my mouth NOT to scream, and shook like a demented tree for a few minutes while a couple kind people went up to Billy to ask him about ‘where’s your mom?’ He looked puzzled ‘What did I do with her??” THAT is true heart stopping panic, not the McCanns, Chris Watts, Casey Anthony, Mark Hacking, Scott Peterson, Michael Peterson, Drew Peterson et al.

Excluding the fact they left their young children alone whilst they ate, their behaviour afterwards was very telling, there was simply no emotion with either of them....if you lost your child you would be besides yourself. The most telling evidence for me were the dogs, dogs don't have an opinion they are there to do a job and they both detected a dead body in the hotel, teddy and car. Whether they did it or not, the fact they weren't arrested for child neglect is beyond me, they are terrible parents and don't deserve the title....I don't think Maddie will ever be found, and my heart breaks for that little girl

I'll start by saying that I am portuguese, I live and lived in Portugal at the time and we all accompanied the case praying and hoping that she was going to be found alive and well. This is very close to my heart and a very touchy case to all of us here. I am commenting along with the video, so be patient with me, please, lol. There is a theory that is very well fundamented that maddie was not actually seen by anyone on that last day. There were several 2, 3 or 4 year old girls there, all very similar physically, all british . No one actually remembers seeing her or speaking to her, the few people that said to have seen her, saw her from afar or in a group of children and in moments when Kate or Gerry have said, oh Madeleine is there while pointing at the group of children, the situations where maddie was supposedly in kids tennis or kids club Kate signed for her presence there, not a nanny or someone responsible for the kids that actually took her by the hand and spoke to her. The twins were seen, but Maddie only in these circumstances. So, it's easy to actually doubt their version of that day. The why they were never held accountable blows your mind and everyone in Portugal too. But perhaps we should ask that to the UK police and government. But I will comment on that later. Some family walking that street where jane said she saw the man walking, witnessed seeing Jane but they never saw the man carrying the child that she claimed to have seen, and their path WOULD have crossed ways with that man. Weird to say the least, police proved it would have been impossible in that time frame . ( also, weird that she started remembering that " man" after yet another family and a british family even , claimed to have seen a man resembling Jerry's description with a child in his arms walking in the direction of the beach, and that family and their report was dismissed by the UK police) Annnd , you go straight to the point! Who says she was taken? And the twins left alone! Yeah, that is precisely it! I am not a parent, but I have nieces and first thing you do is look inside the bathroom, all rooms, under the bed, outside in the terrace and then you think the child wondered into the night , you go into denial that something very bad happened, right? Even after days you don't believe, you don't want to believe that the child was taken!!!! Another thing, they called the Embassy, a news channel in the UK , they called everyone and everything in the UK before calling the portuguese police. Then accused the police of taking two hours to arrive. * coughs* Also the police after finding out that they already had called the UK press, did immediately what you in the USA would call an Amber Alert, we don't have that here but since all portuguese and UK media was alerted, maddie's face was all over the news and papers so locals were looking everywhere, helping all over the country, police forces all over the country, Spanish police and spanish locals too because we can travel to Spain in about two hours or less, Portugal is a very small country of 10,000,00 and 10,000,00 were looking for that baby, it broke our hearts and them the word abduction came out i admit our pride was hit hard that a foreign child had been abducted here. Another thing that was hushed up, the maid who cleaned the apartment stated that, that day Maddie's bed was already made and unlike the previous days she did not have to do it herself, she was fired soon after the event. Yet another thing, at least one worker of the resort, also portuguese and several police officers, first responders said that the twins were still asleep when they arrived to the apartment, even tho there was a lot of comings and goings, stress, noise, the babies were so groggy that it was difficult to wake them up and they believed that they had been drugged with some sleeping pills. the staff member was also reportedly fired sometime later. The detective Gonçalo Amaral lost his job, his reputation for doing his job well. he was a very experienced detective and very experienced with missing children. He had a good case and he from the first moment thought that they were lying and investigated accordingly but even tho he believed that something was fishy and that they were lying and Maddie was probably dead he kept the search for the child pretty active, it's not like the UK people say, that he made his mind about the parents and stopped looking . He was ruined by Kate and Gerry and by the UK police and government . Portugal will not forget or forgive what was said about our police detectives and our people and our country. The british campaign against Portugal was devastating, they insulted us in every way possible, from language issues , ( I have to say that they don't speak portuguese, but that does not makes us less informed or educated or a third world country , it makes them arrogant and uneducated, we understand them , they don't understand us). Secondly they repeatedly said that portuguese police was bad, no means, no experience, no knowledge, no will, nothing.( the first police group from the UK was said to agree with the portuguese detectives understanding of the case, they too had misgivings about the parents story and were replaced very quickly, after that everything the UK reported both to the public trough the media coverage and the UK police and government reports was so damaging and flourished to make the parents version be accepted and look very truthful and all that could be done to diminish and smear the portuguese police , it was done. And one thing that we all find weird , why was the British prime minister involved? They were allegedly friends or connected somehow and he got involved in a very interfering way as soon as the child was reported missing which lead to a very messy relationship with our own police forces and their work was made so difficult and constantly discarded). It is also repeatedly claimed that we are a heaven for pheodophyles , a third world country ravaged by rapists, they forgot to mention that the Algarve is indeed an haven for peodophyles being most of them british actually. For your American audience , I will explain that the south of Portugal, the Algarve is mostly a tourist area, great climate and very cheap for foreigners to live there , mostly retired brits, they have their own pubs and news papers and a whole community life that is very active and tight, we joke about it saying that Algarve is more british than portuguese. Everyone there speaks english, some better than others, but enough to communicate with tourists or foreign residents. Another strange event , they are catholic and were at some point received by the very man himself, the Pope, it's like THE Pope, the most important catholic figure, but sometime later...the Pope distanced himself from the case and the McCanns...how weird is that? And my last point on this video, a very important one. The fathers, notice that it was the fathers, not the mothers or the couples, but the fathers on the group bathed the young children, not just their own, but each others children , claiming that that would give each couple more " couple time" away from the daily routines with the children, so they took turns with that ...okay...weird, but we are seeing things after the event and think it is ...weird...if I try to be more " human" about it and honest about it, we live in a world where innocence is gone, perhaps they did it innocently , it is possible, lets see it , lets try to see it that way for the sake of the argument and our own sanity , they took turns bathing the children every night, they took turns checking on them at dinner time ( another *cough) . Only, there was a woman, i forget her name but it is true that she reported a very serious and not innocent at all moment one evening at dinner if i recall correctly where she witnessed one of the male friends, one of the fathers in the group called Dave chatting with Gerry and at some point he asked if" maddie did this" and rubbed his nipple with one hand in circular movements while with the other hand he put one finger inside his mouth and made a suction movement moving his finger in and out of his mouth ( we all know what it means, yes? ) laughed She later heard him talk in the same way about his own daughter. She then said that from that moment on she and and her husband never again left their kids alone with Dave .Edited to add the name of this witness Katherina Gaspar and that this event took place not in Portugal but on another group trip to Majorca. I am sorry for my very long statement here. Like i said, this case is very close to my heart.

Exactly!!! I'm also Portuguese (olaaaaa) and I've never really felt very attatched to this case (I was only six at the time actually) but, with all due respect, if I see a group of british people, or just tourists in general, I would NEVER be able to remember a face in the middle of the group! In a portuguese kindergarten I'd definitely remember a little blond girl (they are quite rare after all) but in a touristy resort? Dear heavens they all look roughly the same! That being said I'd like to thank you soooo much for defending the portuguese, as someone toying with the idea of working in the police crime lab, I know, for a fact, how amazing PJ can be, and from what I've seen, they were quite efficient on this case. (Also, we all know how much the police freak out about keeping tourists safe, much more that portuguese people, lets be very honest! ahahahh) Anothe point I'd like to make: That man, who supposedly kidnapped the girl, could be carrying ANY baby in that resort (especially at that time, the Algarve was pretty much just British tourists (now it's more diverse)) literally, 90% of the little girls in that resort were probably blond with pink PJs, and they may have a dad, or babysitter, or uncle, or older brother with a darker complexion! It literally makes no sense, completely. Well, I definitely speak way too much, oh well ahahah (Also, I'm speaking in English so that other people understand btw)

There are different ways of knowledge. The Portuguese police may have had and used less forensic technology than the UK police, but that doesn't mean that their methods would not have worked. Maybe worked better than what the UK police do. Most cases are solved by what we in the United States called "gumshoeing", meaning going around questioning people, following up leads and hunches and trying to induce someone who has some information to come forward. The role of UK authorities was to prevent embarassment to the UK. Having a professional couple who were physicians charged with child neglect leading to death, drugging their children or, worse, involvement with a cult or child exploitation ring would have been been bad publicity. Still. we just don't know what happened. It could have been a kidnapping either by a local psycho or for human trafficking purposes.

Neglect is a form of abuse. Madeleine went missing as a DIRECT RESULT of her parents failure to look after her. They neglected her and her siblings. Maybe we will never know what happened to the little girl, I'm not an expert in solving crimes, so I can't comment on police procedures and forensic evidence. What I do know about is parenting, good and bad. I've been working with children in care for over 25 years, many of them victims of neglect. I can not understand why Madeleine's parents were not immediately charged with neglecting all 3 of their children and were deemed fit to continue looking after the ones that were left. A friend told me that maybe " they were punished enough already", because Madeleine went missing. Really?? THEY were punished enough?

It's a fair point, but I am not sure if taking their other two children or prosecuting them would have been the right thing to do. I believe it was Amaral who quoted as saying something along the lines of him believing it to be a 'British custom' to leave their children alone, and even though he's wrong, if he believed that, it might explain why he did not charge the McC's. As for the UK, well the 'crime' was not committed here. Apparently, social services claimed that the McC's actions were within the bounds of decent parenting, though I am not sue if I can locate the actual source to that comment. Regardless of that, if you leave a candle burning and your house burns down, though you are responsible for your stupidity, no one can say that you deserved it. The McC's have only themselves to blame, but that does not mean they deserved to lose their child. If this is a genuine abduction, and I tend to think it is, then the Mccanns are being punished every day of their lives.
@StephanieHarlowe
@StephanieHarlowe 6 жыл бұрын
I never said they deserved it. But they are responsible. Cut and dry facts, if they had been with their children as they should have been, this would not have happened. Did Maddie deserve what happened to her? I am kind of more concerned with the young child, with her whole life in front of her, not making a choice to be left alone and having something terrible happen to her as a direct result of someone else's irresponsibility. Gerry and Kate have done a fair amount of talking about how "they" feel about it, how it's been so hard on THEM and they are suffering every day, just as you have said. It's not about them. It doesn't really matter how they're feeling at this point and if she was abducted, I do believe they are being punished every single day and suffer greatly from it, and I feel horrible for them. At the same time, parents around the world have their children taken from them for MUCH LESS, parents who don't fit the upper middle class white picket fence, educated, white mold that the McCann's carry off so well. That should be noted.

It's not my call to say if they hurt their daughter or not. But as a mom, i would never, and i mean NEVER, leave my kids alone unattended. Not even at home, so on holiday, in an unlocked hotel room, for a few hours ? No freaking way !

What's sick is that what you thought, is exactly what the McCann's wanted everyone to think. They are manipulators. Probably sociopaths as well in order to be capable of doing all the shady shit they did. At least the truth is getting out there now with the help of the internet. I'll admit, I also thought they were much closer because of the lies they told to the media, which then furthered the lies for the McCann's. I hope more people find the truth and realise they've been lied to about this case.

it's common knowledge now that they had something to do with it. In the UK, we just roll our eyes when they keep getting taxpayers money to continue the investigation. They won't leave it be but they won't use their own money to keep looking, and neither of them are struggling. They've milked this opportunity for all it's worth and they continue to 11 years later. we're just waiting for the day it'll be exposed and they'll get what they deserve.

Meanwhile disabled people like myself have been made homeless or forced into domestic violence situations because 'moeny doesn't grow on trees'. Yep, they are doctors so 100% can afford to chip in their own money. Plenty of working class people have paid private investigators to finde their children when the police work wasn't producing results. How they are still free is mind-boggling, even if just for child endangerment.

@@SobrietyandSolace Stop being a user. Nothing has "forced" you to be beaten, or otherwise attacked. No gun is at your head. You're not forced to be in a violent situation, stop being dramatic and lying and bitter. If British people didn't insist on their overdramatic "class system" chip on the shoulder, they'd realize they're just people in a situation anyone can find themselves in. Class is pointless to mention and it doesn't even exist. Only in your mind. You work, rich of poor, you are "working class". Whatever that means.

There is so much crazy in this case it's hard to wrap your head around it. Some innocent inconsistencies make sense, but their reactions are so insane and their parenting is obviously horrible. I cannot believe British officials didn't investigate those parents more deeply, especially after the cadaver dogs alerted to their rental car which was obtained after Madeleine went missing.

KikiCatNovelties I live in Scotland and I have never spoken to anyone who thinks differently! Most feel ‘ if it were me my remaining kids would be removed and my feet would not touch the ground!’ Until proven otherwise most people would be heavily punished!. At first I suppose people donated money to help them look but that will be gone. So why do they get ££ to look for their child? There was another child the same age went missing from the UK at the same time and this couple were on a local talk show (once that I seen), saying they did not get the same coverage for their situation and it was so sad to hear them say because we are middle class working people . They think that🥺 that no one cares about their child because they weren’t doctors and can’t afford a team of people to help them! That made me feel sad. I read Kate McCanns book and she goes on and on about her life before and very little about the actual ‘abduction’ it’s a read 🤥 you won’t get those hours back!! There are too many feeble case scenarios .

I think Madeleine died accidentally in the appartement & had that come to light they would probably have their children taken by social services. Add to this their reputation, which is clearly very important to them would have gone. In fact if Madeleine had died as a result of drug overdose they would have been struck off as doctors.
