That picture of Laci at the Christmas party by herself, 8 months pregnant, while her husband is cheating on her, makes me extremely sad.
@alexandershepard2273
@alexandershepard2273 4 жыл бұрын
Just because he is a cheating sleazebag doesn't make him a killer. Many people cheat on their spouses and don't kill them, David Boreanz, Jesse Jackson, Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton, the list goes on. The prosecution milked the affair for all it was worth but it didn't prove anything besides that Scott was a cad.
@AmandaBabyyyyy
@AmandaBabyyyyy 4 жыл бұрын
@Alexander Shepard are you fucking kidding me... he was a cheater AND a murderer, the two aren’t mutually exclusive 😑 sure, not everyone who cheats goes on to kill their significant other, but having a secret affair is certainly a common motive for murder, as we’ve come to learn... and it could not be more obvious in this case. Curious who else you think would/could have killed Lacy, given the evidence and circumstances 🤔
@reneenayfabnaynay5679
@reneenayfabnaynay5679 4 жыл бұрын
@@alexandershepard2273 I bet I can name more examples of cases where cheating husbands HAVE murdered their wives, and/or mistresses, than, you can name the husbands who just cheat! Cheating & murder may not go hand in hand, but, one cannot deny how prevalent it is.
@alexandershepard2273
@alexandershepard2273 4 жыл бұрын
@@AmandaBabyyyyy How many cheaters tell their partners they are sleeping around? Besides, we don't know for sure if it was a secret, Scott said he told Laci, he could be lying, sure, but he could be telling the truth, makes sense Laci wouldn't have told her family that Scott admitted to an infidelity right before the holidays. The evidence, if you look at in context, is that Laci was murdered by either a serial killer or cult. Given that she was NOT the only pregnant woman to disappear in California in the early 2000's, nor was she the only one to wash up, dismembered, in the bay, (google everlyn Hernandez). If you think this is overly fanciful of an explanation, do some research on harold hill, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, the Zodiac Killer, The Ripper Crew, The Manson Family, Richard Ramirez, Ted Kaczynski, Timothy Mcveigh, John Allen Muhammad, Edward Edwards. Serial Killers are just as real of a thing as husbands who kill their spouses. Specifically, look at Perry Monroe, a person in California who, in the early 2000's, chopped up a hotel maid and dumped her body in a pond, and only a few years ago was sentenced too life after being held in a mental institution for the criminally insane for a decade.

Common occurrences I’ve noticed in a lot of crime/murder cases: •Cheating, like all the fucking time •Having a baby when someone involved doesn’t want it •Wanting to party all the time even when they’re a full grown adult •Hidden pedophelia •Hidden abusive behavior •Lying about anything and everything to get what they want •Narcissism always •Jealousy/envy over situation or looks •Seeks immediate satisfaction •Wants to seem like a genius •Goes big in debt Etc. might add more as I think of it

As a paralegal, never ever talk to police without a lawyer present, if your lawyer says to take poly, than it might be worth it, but in the eyes of the media it can be misconstrued. Always always always ask for a lawyer, even if you're just a person of interest or a witness because you have rights at all times!

Lilah Macavoy right, if either way your going to be painted as guilty in the press, I believe having an attorney there to protect your rights is the only way to protect yourself since no matter what you do the outside perspective is "probably guilty" it's best to have an attorney making sure that a minimal amount of info is released about you.

what were you convicted of then....? its an investigators TOOL, its all in how they present it to you, the tactics they use to try to determine if you're hiding things, ANY THINGS, and somewhat are directed by the results which just analyze your stress levels and deviations in YOUR OWN speech patterns etc. Im wondering Macey, if when they told you you "failed" was to elicit you to finally tell them something you'd been hiding (not necessarily any guilt of yours per se) or simply to give them more statements, behaviors and reactions to weigh if they thought you were a credible person... if you were not convicted of anything, you can't really say injustice or failure ... would it have been easier if you refused it? would that have made things more difficult? I wish people would stop interfering with investigations! i don't think its smart to hinder prosecution and interfere with investigations! just answer the questions! Its not admissible in court, its an investigative tool. it works too, many many many people admit things they would have lied about just cause they assume its gonna show up. we learn a lot from those little "tests" its just a means to gather more to analyze which is detrimental in finding out the closest to the truth they can get. if you're not guilty, an inadmissible polygraph literally can't convict you on its own, which if theres more, i then question your complete innocence ;)

I felt very connected to this case and followed it closely. I held my newborn son when she and Connor were found. Since then, I look at my now 16 year old son and feel devastated she never got to experience motherhood, the dreaded teenage years, and that her mother was robbed of having that bond grandmas do with their firstborn grandchildren. Here's a great way to respond to the police when they ask you to take a polygraph: "Officers, I have every intention of cooperating with you, but I need to consult legal counsel first. If my legal counsel thinks it is a good idea to take the polygraph, then I will absolutely do so." The lawyer will of course say "hell no don't take it", at which point you can blame your "no" answer on your lawyer

@Van Helsing The author of ""Gone Girl" was probably influenced by the story of Laci Peterson . I do not think Scott killed his wife because he wanted to be with the extramarital girlfriend. The killing was not part of a love triangle. I believe that somehow Laci found out about Scott's affair. She was probably furious that he was having an affair while she was pregnant. Laci may have confronted him about his affair and an argument ensued. My guess is that the argument turned physical with the result that Laci was fatally injured. I do not think Scott premeditated the murder of his wife. Instead of calling the police, Scott decided to get rid of the body. He wanted to maintain his image of a perfect husband. If Scott had been truthful, he would not be accused of first or second degree murder. Convicted of manslaughter, Scott probably would be out of prison by now.

Just the bio history of Scott’s birth parents is so enlightening about the patterns of trauma the mother had and all of the kids she gave up, I can see the paren ting, attachment and child rearing issues, that would later be prominent in Scott’s adult behaviors as a narcissist and borderline personality. The trauma surfaces through the generations of the family line, if not addressed, it will come to the surface, one way or another. So sad for Laci and baby !

@French blue8 they're still a thing because they are not used alone to determine guilt or innocence in a case. They're merely used as an investigative tool for law enforcement to decide if a suspect warrants further investigation or not. Calligraphers in law enforcement officers who use polygraphs in their investigations know fully well that anxiety as well as other conditions and diseases certain medications and substances as well as health conditions like pregnancy can all affect the results of polygraph test. And all that is taken into consideration. These devices interpret physiological changes in breathing heart rate and perspiration levels. They do their jobs. The trick is that the human beings interpreting those results have to do so with accuracy and take all factors into consideration.

I took a polygraph yrs ago and passed. Guess what? The person suspected that didn't take one.. didnt offer to take. Mark Klaas took a poly and passed under HORRIFYING AND FEARFUL conditions when his daughter Polly went missing and later found murdered.. not by her father even though parents are often suspected in a case like that. Scott refused because he KNEW he wouldn't pass. Chris Watts took and thought he could manipulate the test by saying he was having an affair and that's why his results were GUILTY.Theyre fairly accurate. The intent to be COMPLETELY FORTHCOMING and transparent in the event of a panic crisis like a missing wife.. and taking the test.. shows you'll DO ANYTHING including jump through fiery hoops to prove innocent and to find a missing wife. In a REAL panic.. youre not thinking of lawyering.. up. Funny that everybody else wouldve taken one in a nanno.. second

Jury was clearly bias, it's concerning the one juror that actually wanted to go through all the evidence and discuss it when they were in deliberation was threatened by a fellow jurors and removed from duty resulting in a very quick guilty verdict after he was replaced. Not to mention all the new information available now of the possible other suspects, a similar murder not long before she was murdered, another pregnant woman in the area being "stalked" shortly before and the dismissal of eyewitnesses (particularly the mail man). It's dirty once you look at it again now that the hype and emotions settled.

I used that as a way to handle my grief because I had not lived with him in the same town for years..I loved both of my parents more than words can describe.. My boyfriend has a boat, he's an avid fisherman and i love to go with him too and go out on the boat. This man's entire boat/fishing trip is FISHY (pun intended). Anyone with a boat isn't going to struggle with the trailer, yes it was a new boat but they're all pretty much the same hookup. Also, you don't drop anchor really to troll, you use your boat motor on a low setting, a trolling motor or the current/wind on the body of water to push you and move around slowly so you can use fishing bait that looks like it's swimming or whatever. Idk why these little details bother me but why would he lie about these little things if he wasn't busy doing something else on the boat like dumping a body

Yes, what you say is mostly true about avid fisherman. Was scott an AVID fisherman? He may have gone fishing and done it on commercial deep sea fishing boats, friends boats etc. That wouldn't make him avid. Was he just deciding that it was something he loved enough to spend money on a boat and gear and storage? Had he ever owned a boat? I'm not arguing. I am asking. because it matters and I don't have any idea. Just because people say he was an avid fisherman doesn't make him one. Maybe he was but these questions are important so I'm ASKING NOT ARGUING A POINT. If someone has REAL supportive informative one way or the other I'd really like to know....

You're conflating a ridiculous "alibi" with an actual crime. People are responding to the "alibi" he gave as ridiculous. I'm unsure why this confused you. Ofc killing someone is extremely odd, especially on Christmas Eve, but the issue was solely about his alibi claim. It's like finding it hard to believe that a someone left their mom to randomly play darts on mother's day. Yes, the crime IS more odd, but the alibi is what makes the timing odd. People are strange, sure, but this is a perfectly normal human reaction.

I definitely agree with the OCD theory. As soon as I heard about him washing his clothes and using coasters, I figured that may be hyperfixation on his compulsive urges, which can happen when someone with OCD is super stressed. Whether he was stressed about his missing wife, or stressed about the possibility of getting caught for a crime he is involved in is another story....

I lived in Modesto during the time, a mile from the Peterson home. My dad met and spoke with Scott right after he sold Laci's car and he was only worried about himself and how we was being perceived. But the BIGGEST thing the police overlooked was my dad's boss witnessing Scott on the freeway in the middle of the night/ early morning with his truck and boat during my dad's boss big rig run from Modesto to Richmond. He noticed because there wasn't that many vehicles on the road at that hour of the morning, he noticed the boat being towed. He reported it to police, but they never followed up with him. That would make sense. It would put him in Berkeley very early morning, right around 2 am. Would be enough time to come home, stage the house, let the dog out, and go back to Berkeley and get that receipt as an alibi. Also explains how Laci was found in clothes from the previous day.

Oh wow. I had no idea. I watched the documentary on Hulu, I think it was done by A&E? I watched it and I felt he was innocent by the end of it. However, now that I've done more outside research, I now think it was very biased. However, I am still confused how the jury convicted him just on the evidence presented in the case (unless they left a lot of the documentary, which is very possible). It seemed to me there was still a lot of room for reasonable doubt.

@@gibsonnutrition9319 The witness was wrong about the morning she saw Laci.. also IIRC ..a heavy set woman walking her dog may have been seen and mistaken for a pregnant Laci walking her dog Makenzie. When Scott was asked how he feels about upcoming fatherhood..He said..(I was hoping for infertility)...Scott killed Laci because Scott did not want children..IMO Laci would still be alive if she did not get pregnant.

How letting children feel that empathy should not be discouraged. You’re such a good mum! I’m a child psychologist but I hope someday to build a good model of parenting for my children. You give some great advice. Keep being you and putting out amazing, quality, and well-researched content! Can’t wait for the next video, and will have a look at the merch. Stay blessed 🌿🌸✨

Generally 'cops' have NO interest in crime per se as it opens up way too many sociological questions that they'd rather not engage in.Lots of them are good guys n gals BUT their primary function is to uphold a very unequal society(I've never had a parking ticket).Cops,in general,,don't know why prostitution(for example)is illegal-they can't tell you why a fully grown woman doesn't own her own body.They don't write letters to the NY times when a colleague shoots an unarmed black kid in the back.They forget that THEY are public servants empowered only by the people.There are great cops but over half of them don't fit this description.Being a policeman or policewoman is not anywhere close(statistically)to being among the most dangerous jobs,yet the myth persists. So police people agree to a job that's biased against the 90% and never stop the 10% for a busted rear light.They are no worse than the common man(me)but nor are they any better or moral and they are top of the league for domestic violence as they always have to cover up for their colleagues even if it personally disturbs them-cops,in general uphold all the ills of society.

I have taken a polygraph. I was accused of something and I sought out a test myself. I found a retired cop who administers polygraphs for a local police department for their new recruits. I wanted someone the judge would respect. I paid myself. I took the test, and I passed. I still went to jail. My point is, even if he had passed, it may not have helped that much. I don't blame him for not taking one. And I think he should have never gone in for questions without his lawyer

@L S In the rare instance that both parties agree that the results of a polygraph exam should be admissible for some reason, the court could allow it as evidence. ... Nevertheless, for purposes of court procedures, absent a stipulation of the parties, the results of a lie detector test are likely never admissible.

This case always pops into my mind around Christmas so I wanted to revisit this video...something I never really thought about until now: who styles their hair before walking their dog? Maybe it’s just me, but my hair gets thrown into a ponytail or bun before walking my dog...seems strange that she would take the time to style with a curling iron before you exercise. Just another hole to poke in his story.

Two things while I am at that part of the video. Scott didnt seem anxious or worried or frantic.... 1. You mentioned that even as a kid he had emense control over his emotions. So maybe for him this is normal. 2. From my point of reference, my husband is also extremely calm. So even when our daughter went missing for a few min a couple of years back, he didn't get upset or even look worried. I only knew he was even worried because his nails were bitten to the nail bed. So it definitely could just be that thats how he handles bad situations
