Charming Steph ! ... like forgotten memories of a previous life 😌 ...Michelangelo use to look into his marble block until he could see the figure, then with his chisel would work to release its form; from the stone ...just as you have done! ...you forgot the little fox under the tree ...🐺❤️😊

Can I ask....what do you use to adhere the gold leaf? I see that you have no problem with the paint sinking in to the surface.

It's watercolor ground, so it's meant for painting watercolor onto

Hi Stephanie.... I'm revisiting this as I'm trying to get back into painting after breaking my hand. I'm trying new things as my hand is unfortunately still not good. Would you mind telling me which white gel pen you are using....as I'm yet to find one that doesn't "give up the ghost" after a few marks...even when new. ???? Your artwork is such an inspiration to me. 💜🌳✨

I'm sorry to hear about the hand, but that's good that you're able to paint again. Here's a link to my gel pens: www.amazon.com/shop/spmlaw?listId=3FVAGF6EIGQ12

Did the paper start coming up when you were scrubbing the hill?
@StephanieLaw6 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think so.

I'm a little late to this party but these are wonderful. Thank you. I'm learning a lot that I was missing before, about value and composition from trying this.

Hi, what did you use to put the copper leaf on. I have tried to find that method in other videos but didn’t have any luck. Thanks, love the idea of little works with a new color.

I'd guess she's using a watercolor ground. She's talked about it in other videos, and it looks like whatever she's using is taking watercolor fine.

Hi Liz, she's using Daniel Smith Transparent Watercolor Ground.

Liza Kleinmanns thanks, I need to get the transparent one.

I’d love to use the gold leaf I have in my own work. What adhesive do you use with your gold leaf to get this amazing result on watercolor paper and overplayed with so much water and paint?

Hi Jade, she's using Daniel Smith Transparent Watercolor Ground :)

Thanks for the information about the brushes you use for scrubbing. I recently purchased the silver black velvet brushes and they aren’t good for scrubbing, they are too soft for what you were doing but they are wonderful for detail work.

Thanks! I'll have to try those. I've heard good things about them.

Stephanie, this is such a cogent explanation of what I try to achieve -- randomness v on purpose. Your work is so beautiful and refined. I have several of your books and am glad to have found you on KZbin.

Hi Stephanie! I have a question: When I tried this painting I dried the first layer with an hair dryer. But suddenly the painting becomes on some spots black particles! Do you have the same issue? Maybe it's the alcohol reacting with the dryer? Or is this normal with Daniel Smith watercolor Diopside Genuine because of the graining?
@StephanieLaw6 жыл бұрын
That's strange! No, I have not had that happen before

I love this series. It’s exactly what I was requesting 6 weeks ago! Funny you mentioned a dual personality that could have developed from the textures of the original wash. I saw the tree with curved canopy, but also saw the spirit within the tree, faces from within, as well as the canopy as a bridge with your wispy maiden crossing. Thank you. It’s lovely and more a teaching moment.
