Family and work stress caused me to have a heart attack at age 43, even though I didn't have any of the classic risk factors. I stopped working and was told by my parents that God let me get sick so I could care for them. Now that they've passed and my son is grown, everyone wants to know what I do all day. I do as little as possible!

I am that black woman, in my 30s, moved to diaspora as an adult ( France) and currently at a crisis point where am tired of living for other people, fed up of doing a programmed life that is not even enough. This is me venturing into entrepreneurship and the KZbin space to finally do the things I have desired to do for a long time. Am here to stay for the nuggets, thank you for the encouragement.

Congrats!! I feel exactly where you’re coming from. As a 34 y/o who just quit my “dream job” to pursue my passion for LIVING and traveling and just existing on this beautiful rock, it is SO UNIMAGINABLY freeing to be at this point in my life. Hubby is retired and wants me to be able to live a life of leisure, not stress and upkeeping other folks standards. We can do WHATEVER we want to do! It’s great to have a support system, but when your family thinks you’re crazy and you only have one person on your side, you can still make your dreams happen. Stay strong and live a beautiful life of your choosing sis! Bless!

Reminds me of this quote, The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away. If you don't know what that is, ask God. Most of us are miserable in jobs is because of societal expectations and going with the flow and not against the grain. 1 Peter 4:10 KZbin is good but don't let this take the place of the Bible. "First" seek the kingdom.... ask yourself who are you following. Let you tube be a supplement not the source ❤️

@Livvybynature. I’m with you! Every being born has its own special invitation to Life and its own “purpose” for being here in its time! It is homo sapien, the talking primate which came up with the presumption of playing God in other people’s heads. It is that species’ propensities of greed, ambition, & of commercializing everything & everyone that have implanted the idea that the ant colony should be its model. Therefore, we all “must serve” some human schematic of enriching kings & queens (& their ilk)-or else “Life” has no “meaning” as compared always against those who’ve made themselves entitled to comfort & ease, or against their billions of minions they trot-out to give service medals & “big props” & other gestures of thanks to. See? Live up to Bob/Betsy here, they will be promoting. Implanting complete foolishness of reward-seeking into very young heads! So the cycle perpetuates: greed, ambition, falling-short, being unrewarded unappreciated unacknowledged & never grasping “why.” But still determined to keep making that ant colony happen! All they offer is drudgery, but we nobodies ought to just be grateful! So grateful. THAT’s our “purpose” in the eyes of most & ever has been-singing praises through pain in lands not our own. It’s a ridiculous business & is scarcely worthy of being called “living!” Let alone living with purpose. I say, let us JOIN Stephanie’s ethos & live unto US alone-just as everyone else standing on our backs has been doing, expects to always keep doing-until we walk away or drop, evidently, based on almost all of history. I see Stephanie Perry’s channel & program as its own social movement OUT of the grind of subconsciously-imposed & subconsciously-endured oppression. That means, nobody even has to “think” about it-it just IS. I hope we all find our own hidden pathways OUT into bliss. Bliss & ecstasy ARE living & purposes, too. Other species seem to have discovered this. Each day they live seems relatively happy & fulfilling to them-NOT building colonies. Stephanie’s hair is a Crown well-earned in my book! She looks regal!! And well-rested, too! Just a stunning & very statuesque lady! I’d be envious, but I’m too old for that kind of stupidity & I was raised not to even bother when I was very young. “God gives Everyone something,” was a drilled-in phrase at home. Enjoy their presence, their presents, & your own most of all. Stephanie is our Gift! We are ours to each other! Blessings to All. 🪷🌸🌷

I was fortunate to "work" (and be hugely successful and accomplished..) at something I love for more than 50 years. from studying to get the PhD to university professor, global advocacy. published author, trailblazer.. Because I LOVED it, I had trouble separating out what was done from obligation. So, although I retired early (in my 50's) I continued to DO all the same things but as an independent. Now. I really don't want to DO anything. To literally just stop and smell the roses. I just got residency in the SEAsian country of my choice after 5 years. I am building a house where I wont have to pay rent for the rest of my life. Yeah, I think rose smelling might just BE the thing. Thanks for what you do.

Hey there. I love your videos. I lived in South Korea and China, teaching. I had a nice, cushy college teaching job when I lived in China. I stayed for 4 years. I then taught at an International school, which was crazy busy and not really my style. I am now back in the US helping foster homes. I was doing case management social work for the past year and a half. It was crazy work for such low pay. I like my job now, because it’s a lot more relaxed, slow-paced, and much less drama. I love having free time, taking walks, cooking, planning my weekends, reading. I am not meant to be killing myself at some job.

I'm a first-timer to your channel and I like what I'm hearing. I think the disconnect lies in the notion that purpose involves what society considers to have honorable impact. While the fight for equity, justice, etc is honorable, we were not created to only know fight and struggle. Nor are only supposed to experience joy on the margins of our lives. I agree that we can design our lives and pursue multiple purposes/intentions throughout our lifetimes. I think it's perfectly fine to start the quest to understanding who we are individually by asking the question, "what is my purpose?" But we need to understand that freedom and joy are indicative of purpose. Our dreams and purposes are very much connected. Dreams are not frivolous. We've been trained to foreclose on our dreams for some other priority. And I believe it is past time to experience God's love for us through ease, abundance, peace and joy.

I’ve been on a journey to receive this. It’s definitely an unlearning! The first time I started to let this sink in, I closed the nonprofit I started because I realized I was doing it out of obligation rather than love. It was freeing and an act of self care and self love to let go. Letting go of workaholism and choosing lifestyle freedom and work life balance are the next huge stores in this journey. It feels like I’m going in the right direction because I feel so much less pressure and stress and so much more joy as I let this sink in. Yes I love when you talk about this!!!

Overseer. The idea that we can be our own overseer is so chilling and sooooo real. I’ve been actively deprogramming from the “have to” mindset for a while now, but it’s easy to get tangled right back up in it especially if you’re surrounded by likeminded people. That being said, I am grateful for this reminder, Sis, and recognize some sisters just aren’t ready for this kinda gospel, so the best thing to do is focus on my own emancipation 🙏🏿

I believe in right now purpose because it can and will change as we move through life. Your right now purpose is helping black women realize there is another way to live.🏖 You've shown us we don't have to live to the detriment of our health. Right now my purpose is to care for an aging parent. It's stressful and not how I envisioned this stage of her life or mine. But it is what it is. It depends on how you define the word purpose. I always thought of purpose as your values and interest in one. Your purpose is who you are at your core and drive you. It can be whatever you want it to be. I think your purpose can be your dreams. It is what matter to you.

Thank you @Stephanie Perry for this reminder. This community gave me my wings and I am FLYING. Free! I am heading to South Africa next week to connect with Ashley Cleveland who I learned about through Exodus Summit. You and Roshida are doing great work. Thank you so much.
