My Mum had cancer in the 80's and lost all of her hair from chemo. She mostly wore scarves as the wigs in those days weren't great and it was pretty obvious she was wearing a wig. It's good to know there are wigs out there that look so much realistic for cancer patients

And they're insanely expensive. I always remember we were collecting scarves for my Grandmother, who had a blood cancer only 2 people in the USA had and her hair was supposed to fall out and my Mom was talking about wigs. All these plans, next day, she was gone. I was awful, i think i shoved my Mom when she told me and ran outside to scream. Before i get too off track, wigs should NOT be so damned expensive, cancer patients are already going through so much hell. My GM probably could have afforded one, if she'd lived long enough (uhhh, this was 18 years ago. Still feels like yesterday, she was the best person in the world. I imagine having a YT channel with her, it would have been brill) to buy one. But most people don't.

Yeah thats true but like cheap wigs have way more itchy lace than special wigs for chemo patients and people who have alopecia or other baldness. Also, euring chemo the skin is also more sensitive... you can ofcourse use a wigcap underneath, but you can still feel the front lace on your forehead when you want the wigcap to not be visible (aka be further back)... but yeah it can be fun for a picture or a very short period of time 🤷🏻‍♀️ those specialized wigs are hella expensive... certainly real hair ones. But I wore mine for a couple of years and even lightened it a bit and then colored it darker again, so I made the most out of it. Nowadays you can find good quality. And luckily you can get a bit of financial help to buy one here in Belgium if you have health insurance with hospital plan (which most people have), but even then it's still expensive. Idk where the hair even goes that people donate tbh 👀

Pro tips for beginners (or just people who want to know) with wigs:glue down the sides of your lace front wig to prevent it from flying off ya head, Use a toothbrush to get a more realistic look with baby hairs, Don’t use high heat with heat resistance wigs spray a bit of water on them and use a medium heat

Steph, just wanted to let you know you can dye synthetic wigs with an alcohol based pigment/pure pigments. It’s super easy to do! As far as cutting wigs, it can be a little tricky but using a razor will help take away some of the bulk. For styling, steamers are great, and won’t ruin the synthetic like some flat irons/curling irons. 😊

Grace Alexandra it's a different process including the type of dye when it comes to synthetic hair. Using regular hair dye wont work unless it's a human hair wig . You can change the color with fabric dye though. If that's intimidating you can also get great results just using an eye shadow matched to your natural hair color. Apply it with a small art or makeup brush and voila! You'd be surprised how easy the eye shadow method is, and if you mess up, its a simple washable fix!. :)Hope this was helpful Lizzy Burzum(:
