The FACTS are that he threw for more yards than Drew brees, played 10 games in a row with no interceptions with over 300 pass attempts in that time, lost Amari Cooper, Donald Penn, Kalil Mack and Marshawn Lynch, set NFL all-time records for most completions in 5 years and went 3-4 to finish the season with the 31st ranked defense, undrafted free agent receivers, and backups all over the offensive line. It's strange, I listen to Joy Taylor talk on Undisputed/The Herd and she's excellent. Here is a comparison: The Patriots for most of this season and especially the post season were doubted for their abilities, namely Tom Brady's age and the receivers abilities. What did he do? He went and played clutch in two post season games and was inspired to prove the doubters wrong. Derek Carr instead of taking responsibility attacks two analysts for his own poor level of play and wants to beat the crap out of them instead of just going out, playing, and proving them wrong. To say "Derek didn't want it" That's a personal attack on his character and has nothing to do with sports analysis. Obviously, I genuinely love Derek Carr. The guy speaks at my church in Bakersfield and does so much for the Central valley and him making that big money contract was one of the greatest things that ever happened to valley children's hospital because they've received more financial support than they ever have before. Apart from everything he does as a follower of Christ, he is a hard worker. To say "he didn't want it" is one of the biggest slaps in the face to him and everyone who follows him. When you make a statement like that, you're saying he doesn't get up before everyone else and stay longer than everybody else (he does. Ask his teammates and coaches or check the interviews.) Max and SAS are right on this one and as a Browns fan I have a huge amount of experience watching QB’s lose confidence, get fearful in the pocket and over time quit on more and more plays to preserve their health. 2. But the poor season the Raiders has isn’t due to Derek Carr’s forgetting how to quarterback. His play has suffered because all the talent surrounding him on the team was gutted out. Carr is not a bad QB or “Trash.” If Carr never gets back to the level of play he had earlier on in his career it’s because his confidence was shot playing for such an inept team and being lambasted daily by sports media and fans. He has the talent and the understanding of the game to be a decent starting QB...but he’s being worn down by one of the most brazen tank jobs in the history of the NFL and the frustration fans have with every aspect of the team and need to find a scapegoat. 💯
