First off, Magic is saying that out of courtesy, in his prime, Magic was the Greatest Point Guard of all time, and how is it that the GOAT PG is pushed over for Kobe who isn't even the Greatest SG of all time, and we all know who that is. Magic could score a lot if he wanted too because when Kareem was injured, or out, Magic ppg would shoot up to around 24-25ppg with 10 ast on top of that, only letting his scoring averages go back to the 19ppg when the Captain came back. Moreover, Magic was the better Team Leader and Floor General as well who motivated his entire team to feel like a collective team. Imo, Magic and Bird especially when just counting players from the 1980 to the current era, were arguably the NBAs two greatest leaders from that tenure onward. I LOVE Kobe, however his entire career he has been a Volume Shooter, not an efficient shooter, while Magic was an incredibly efficient shooter, and on top of that, he was the greatest facilitator in NBA History on top of that. Magic is the Greatest Laker of all time, now he's not "greater" than Kareem, because Kareem didn't just play for the Lakers, he also played for the Bucks, so as a career, Kareem is above Magic, however as just a Laker, Magic is the Greatest of All Time. He was the #1 reason as to why the Lakers were Showtime during the 80s, and he definitely prolonged Kareems career without a doubt, and was the fire that made the Lakers the powerhouse throughout the 80s, that dominance can't be underestimated.

Well Magic had Kareem, James Worthy yes. But look at his opponents. The 76ers had Julius Erving, Andrew Toney, Moses Malone, Bobby Jones, Maurice Cheeks and later added a young Charles Barkley. Then the Boston Celtics had Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parrish, Dennis Johnson, Danny Ainge, Cedric Maxwell and later Bill Walton. Had the Bad Boy Pistons in 88 and 89 and then faced the Bulls in 1991 without Kareem as his center and Pat Riley as the coach. You can't just ignore all of this.

Let me stop that right here. From the starters to the bench, Boston had the best team in the league. They had no weaknesses as a complete team. Effectively what he’s saying is that if LeBron faced the Lakers in the NBA Finals he would’ve beat them. From 2008-2011 the Celtics were the best team in the East. And i’m glad he brought up the Spurs, because if you’re in the Western Conference & you can’t beat the Spurs you can forget about sniffing a NBA Finals, the Nuggets Suns Rockets Hornets Mavericks Jazz come on bro all of those teams had a MINIMUM of 50 wins. Every year that’s what Kobe had to face I hate when people try to minimize what he had to go through.

What kills me about the media and their constant attempts to discredit Kobe is that they give full credit to guys like Magic, Bird, Kareem, and Lebron for winning rings on teams with 3 plus all stars/hall of famers on their teams but it’s almost like Kobe’s rings with Shaq don’t even count on his resume’ to them. Kobe was not a Robin, he was 1b to Shaq’s 1a. And he still went on to be almost just as successful without Shaq and only 1 other guy who was a potential hall of famer (Gasol) and he’s no lock to make it either. Not to mention he finished with more rings and accolades than Shaq and there was no third star on the 3peat team unlike Bird, Magic, Lebron, and Kareem’s championship teams. Kobe is top 5 at worst no matter how much you hate him or the way he played the game and I’ll argue anybody about it.

You call Kobe and Pau dynamic duo? Sheesh. I can make a case Kobe went to 3 straight finals winning 2 without a top 20 player in his team. Can Lebron ever say that? As good as Pau was, he was a 1x all star before he teammed up with Kobe. He was nowhere near top 20. When Lebron teammed up with not just 1 but 2 superstars, those players are easily in top 20 at the moment in time. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Kobe had a chance to team up with a top 20 player in Chris Paul but league decided to veto it. Im not considering Dwight in 2012 just because he’s coming off a major back injury when he came.

Kareem has in my eyes the greatest basketball career in history from start to finish. He went 79-2 in high school winning every championship. Won 3 NCAA championships and is the sole reason the Dunk was banned & the alley opp was invented in college during the late 60s early 70s. Won 6 NBA titles with 6 League MVP. Also had 2 titles more as an assistant coach. All time scoring champ

My thing is... how can you limit it to 4 players??? I understand trying to follow the western society mantra of choosing 4 great people to immortalize in history, like the presidents etc... but when we talking BASKETBALL, the sport has 5 positions, not 4. So common sense should be that when picking the greatest players ever , you choose one from each position. So wit that said , Stephen A list is more close to accurate without him even realizing he chose the greatest player from each position , and only one left to fill is the PF position. I mean that’s how it should be , and if that’s the case as great as Kobe was, he’s not the best SG of all time 🤷🏾‍♂️ he just wasn’t. So again Stephen a list , plus add your pick of greatest PF and that’s it, and that’s all
