After a postfight brawl between Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team and Conor McGregor and his camp at UFC 229, many provide their reactions to the incident, including Stephen A. Smith calling it “classless” and saying there is “no excuse for it." UFC president Dana White adds that he “couldn’t be more disappointed” with Khabib’s actions and lightweight contender Tony Ferguson says it “embarrassed Dana, embrassed the UFC and it embarrassed the sport.” Ariel Helwani explains that after all that the sport of mixed martial arts has worked to get the world watching, seeing an incident like this is almost “heartbreaking.”

Promoting whiskey on the canvas while Khabib is a devout muslim, Dana drinking with Conor in a press (with conor offering Khabib a glass), insulting a nation where honour and pride is a big principle, insulting a person (his dad) who raised him as a champion his entire life, threatening Khabib and his team, attacking Khabib's bus with 30 man a day before a fight, the list is endless. Khabib stood up against it and this is as far as Conor could get in the sport. When it counted the most, in a legendary fight, Conor came short. He even got dropped standing up, who would have ever thought that? You earn respect by giving it. At the same time I'd say its unfortunate that the event turned dark but it is what it is at the end of the day.
