I wouldn't say MUCH SMALLER, but just a little smaller though. Rodman was still Big Himself though. He didn't have to be a Shaq Big in order to be a Big Guy. MJ never even swept a team in the finals and for me there’s no doubt that the 2001 Lakers were better than any finals opponent. And I think Shaq makes a very valid point. Who was the best center the Bulls ever beat in a finals series? Vlade Divac? Obviously they topped Ewing numerous times but he wasn’t on Shaqs level nor was his supporting cast as good as the Lakers. Idk I think that would be a really interesting series even if I’d ultimately pick the Bulls. I get the Last Dance is coming out but come on Jordan isn’t that much better than every other player who’s ever lived, they’re just feeding a myth at this point.

monster dogg If you are watching that man called Shaq and heard him just mention Luke Longley and Bill Cartwright and Bill Wellington and how he could not be stopped by them.. The truth is the Bulls used Dennis Rodman to control the energy of Shaq. The rebound game would see Rodman abusing the Lakers and putting Shaq in foul trouble. The idea that anyone else would get more rebounds than Rodman is ridiculous or outlet pass the ball better is obsurd... as slow and strong Shaq will never claim he dominated Rodman as he will not have one game of evidence in his entire career.( look up every game they played each other on any team in which they opposed each other and you will see the facts that the matchup was quick and strong Rodman won more of those games 75% ... So your hypothesis that Shaq would have Bodied Rodman is without any fact check.. You sound like you were too young chronologically to have seen those games I am referencing and you are trying to use imagination instead.

The 2017 warriors style of play and even today's warriors style of play would never work in the early 2000s or 90s or 80s. The 2001 lakers or 96 bulls would put a ton of physical abuse on these guys. They would have looked at Curry and Durants skinny frame and make him run lots of ball screens and they would make sure they would feel elbows and make him defend which none can't do very well and he and Curry would get punished physically. They would be down with injuries midway through the playoffs. Given the fact that today's game is such a Soft 2 hand tag kind of game, None of these teams today would last under those old school rules where it was more punishment and humiliation being taking place. I think the Lakers would win. The Bulls are a better team and I would favor them over almost any other team. Either way it would be a hard fought series.

@M The series against the Bulls/Rockets/Pistons were almost exclusively a function of his teammates playing poorly and below standards. Shaq didn't get locked down or dominated at all. 1995 NBA Finals: 28/13/6 on 60 percent shooting (albeit, w/5 turnovers a game) 1996 ECFs: 27/11 on 64 percent shooting 2004 Finals: 27/11 on 63 percent shooting Obviously no one is perfect, Shaq had flaws in his game like any player, but none of those series losses can be tied back to him in a reasonable way.

Shaq didn't get swept by the Rockets. The Magic got swept by the Rockets. In 1996, he put up 27/11 on 64 percent shooting against the Bulls while his version of main role players (Dennis Scott and Nick Anderson) shot a combined 29 percent (seriously...29 percent). It's pretty much impossible to beat a legendary team when your main role players give an F-level performance.

Shaq has averaged 26.8 points per game, 13.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks against Rodman while shooting 54 percent from the field over their careers. In the playoffs it was almost the same stat line, except Shaq was shooting 64 percent from the field while averaging 27. I wouldn't exactly call that "shutting him down" and let's not forget Rodman NEVER guarded prime Shaq (2000-2006) who won four championships. The Worm is amazing, one of the best defenders and rebounders ever, but no one can guard Shaq in his prime when he was with the Lakers who Rodman never faced. MJ's Bulls is probably the best team ever but the only squad that can beat them in my opinion is Shaq and Kobe's Lakers that became a dynasty. That Lakers was special, they would have had a really good chance.

It’s easy to get into Shaq’s head, yeah he would of scored some easy points, but with Rodman on him, he would be out of his element. Only because the smaller guy is neutralizing everything he is doing, just because Shaq is big and heavy, he does not have that much skill, and that’s what Rodman would have took advantage of.
