Maybe just maybe, Vogel’s problem with Russ is that he’s got clumsy hands when he dribbles and too much turnovers, he can’t shoot the ball into the ocean, or maybe it’s the fact that he doesn’t play defense. I could be wrong tho…

I am a fan of Russell Westbrook, but the truth is that he takes no accountability for his own poor play. It was a terrible thing to throw Frank Vogel under the bus. I do not know if there are any persons who personally know him who do tell him the no holds barred truth about his poor play this season and what he must do to improve it, as well as the need to change his attitude of lack of accountability.

Russ saying he didn’t get to “play his game” is comedy. Russ has never played winning basketball. Vogel trying to have him adjust his role was a favor to Russ. It's clearly not Westbrook's fault but I have noticed that he is failing to evolve his game as he gets older. Most players, even MJ, realized their athleticism wouldn't last forever so they developed a post up game or a better jump shot. Russ is still playing the same as he did in year one

Has anyone EVER said Vogel had a problem with Westbrook? I mean, he just didn't play well. That's plain and simple. He wasn't a good fit and it seems refused to tailor his game to fit the needs of the team. Westbrook is going to be on his 5th team in five years I believe. The teams he plays for isn't always the problem. It can absolutely be the man in the mirror.

@@majorgreen6423 How is that having a problem with Westbrook? He wanted to come off the bench, deservedly so. Westbrook's play correlated with that. Russ seems to be a nice guy, but his game just has not evolved. He hasn't developed a mid range, a 3. I mean Mj even developed his midrange despite having a really bad 3pointer,but at that time, they never really thought much about the 3. He shouldn't be blamed too much. The Lakers should know what they were getting. Russ has never evolved, heck his close range sucked so much this year even, but they still took him and gutted the team. They could've had Buddy Hield or even Demar. It's not his fault that his contract sucks as well that's why it's hard to move him. His game sucked this year sure, but the fault lies with the front office.

Before the season started I said: this looks like a good idea, but in my gut I knew you could not have to major power houses on the same team. It needs to be Westbroook as the star and other players to assist. That's when Westbrook thrives. The days when he had Steven Adams to assist, he was unstoppable. Steven Adams propped him up like how Pippin and Rodman propped up Michael. He is not a good fit here.

The Press Conference referenced in question was actually about 22 mins, and throughout he said he didn't have the best season / the result was not what he wanted from himself. Stephen A and Russ agree that it could have been a better season for his play. I think it's fair that Russ and Frank didn't see eye to eye in ways we did not see. Regardless, I will for one say that Russ could have had a better season also, maybe tweak some of the rough edges, and I hope he can turn it around somehow;

At this point, I highly doubt it. He's too headstrong and I think values his skills, despite him being on an obvious decline. It's a shame that he's basically become a journeyman. 5 teams in 5 years. Superstars don't get moved like that.

He said he averaged a triple double last season and wasn't able to do that this season and so that's why he it "wasn't the best season" for him. He's always so focused on him individually than them as a team. Stop it.
@iandonnello5070
@iandonnello5070 2 жыл бұрын
@@mjdbaga He mentioned this detail re the triple double once and said he had a hard time looking at the season differently bc he had different expectations of himself given that track record - that's what he said about it vs. looking at his own stats. What I'm describing is the full 22 min time beyond this one clip in the video and the one you indicated here. He also said he should have shot better been better could have adjusted better, and that he's gonna try to figure it out in the offseason. It's possible this season was a wake up call; I know stuff has been said to him before this season about things. But I just see next season as the time when he will make or break based on these reflections and I do sincerely hope he can turn it around by dealing with the rough edges in his game and orient to the game that no longer serve him

@@dwalkeradz Yeah I agree this is who he has been and that fact doesn't make it look promising he'll shift; I'm interested to see what unfolds next season after this one - this one is by far the worst he's ever had on a team and individually and I'm curious to see how he reacts
