Stephen A you did not tell the truth about Max in regards to his credentials and knowledge for sports. He may not have been a journalist but he had been in the boxing scene for 20+ years and also has had 20+ years in television and broadcasting. Max is one of the best minds on boxing out there you’ll ever find. He also always made his takes with a combination of statistics, facts, logic, reasoning, and history. I was an avid First Take watcher for several years and have watched several fights Max has provided commentary, interviews, and analysis for. There were several times his takes we’re far better than yours. So you may not have liked working with him, but don’t ever put disrespect on his credibility and knowledge of sports.

Max was initially a breath of fresh air for First Take. But many of his takes towards the latter of his tenure got ludicrous. (See his famous "I want Andre Iguodola" statement) and I agree - the show had gotten really stale for a moment. Things change, and things happen. Sometimes you have to adapt. Max unfortunately, what's impacted by a very tough decision that he had to make. SAS has been my guy since his days in Philly. He's put the sweat equity in, and he's earned the spot that he is in today. I thought Max was better suited to be with J Will and Keyshawn. You could physically see that he was more comfortable there. Max was unfortunately the victim of ESPN's downsizing of it's staff. Max is incredibly talented. He's going to be okay. And truth be told, I think he should return back to boxing where he is the top dog.

I’m really not a big SAS fan, but Max Kellerman was even more obnoxious than him. He is a pseudo intellectual who is arrogant and refuses to admit when he was wrong. Kellerman was wrong often about a bevy of topics, especially politics where it was clear SAS had no interest in going there but Kellerman was so ardent in his political philosophies and obsessions (which were often proven dead wrong, such as his obsession with “Russian Collusion”) that they show often got side tracked into a CNN panel. Anyone with a brain saw how bad the chemistry was and saw how the show was becoming polarizing/less popular. SAS had every right to fire someone he hired. Whatever, happens everyday

I think the biggest problem Stephen A had with Max is that Stephen A’s ego is through the roof and he can’t stand to be around somebody who will not placate to that ego by allowing Stephen A to be loud and wrong like he’s always been. The reason the chemistry didn’t work because at every turn Stephen A tried to disrespect Max because I feel like Stephen A was intimidated a little by how intelligent Max is. It’s hard to have a debate show with someone who’s going to win debates on logic every time when you’re as Stephen A.. are “trying to have a debate show”.. Stephen A hated the fact that Max, at times, would run circles around him and call him out on his theatrics. Stephen A thinks he’s never lost a debate in his life according to him.. he needs people around that he’s either bigger than or intellectually superior then in order for the show to work the way it has and Max wouldn’t allow for that because Max doesn’t play a character. Stephen says they looked at all the things that were supposedly said online in justification of removing Max. Well a lot more said about Molly,but shes still there. Lets be honest,if Max didnt have other jobs at espn upon his dismissal,Stephen would of still requested he be removed from the show. Hes making it seem like he asked for him to be removed knowing he would still be ok because he had 2 other shows. Make no mistake,if 1st Take was Max's only gig,Smith would of still asked for his removal(and he can play the "ill go if u keep max" card because he knew the network wasnt going to choose Max over him)

Honestly I like Stephen A and I like Max and I haven’t watched First take since Max was removed, change happens we know that but Mac introduced a different element and to be honest was better than a lot of the fill ins that he’s had on since.

I haven’t watched it on tv I use to watch it every morning nonstop I watch the Stephen a podcasts and he’s said many times who’s on the show and none of the people he’s mentioned who are on the show aren’t even remotely close to max or anyone I’m interested in so I don’t have to watch the show to know who’s on it geez 🙄

Bros just mad that max used these things called “facts” and “stats” and actually spent time to sit down and watch some of the games instead of stretching himself thin with 20 shows n podcasts like Stephan a does. His arguments about players weren’t based entirely around meaningless phrases like “this guy is box office” or “this guy is the big time”

Sometimes you just have to let some things go. SAS has this instinct to push back and defend yourself all the time but sometimes defending yourself only makes you a bigger target. You're not going to get a lot of folks to see your side on this as the right side and you have to just live with it. The more you talk about Max the worse you're going to look, just let it go.

Hate to see it all go this way but Ill have to admitt. I am a huge boxing fan. Max was dominant there and was dominant with SA and for him to get o. That podcast and try to act hood and attempt to deceive folks with that loud moth persona did not work. Like Marcellus said, SA lied abour Max. I. Reality Max was shining brighter that SA and SA didnt like it. Same with Shannon and Skil. Shannon was shining brighter than Skip and skip didnt like it. Mark my worrds. Theres going ro be a huge falling out between SA and Shannon once Shannon see SA for the real SA. It doesnt habe tk be like this but it is. Remember that Lonzo Ball clip asking SA where he get hus info from and SA went off on some whole other shii that had nothing to do with what Lonzo ball said. Said another individual said, SA like to butter up folks before he attempts to tear them down. Folks know how it is and its onky a matter of time before someone with another huge platform chimes back in and he gets exposed. That already happened tho. Its not done here though.
