The one thing about SAS is that he’s all about ratings. He didn’t take Max off the show because he made him look bad with the Kaep stuff. He did it because Max often lacked passion about the takes he had. Even the Brady thing or “I want iguodala” were just funny for being egregiously wrong but he didn’t have that one shtick(like Skip’s obsession with Brady/Lebron) that created interest and made people want to tune in for him. SAS understands that JJ represents a whole segment of fans who are tired of the usual sports rhetoric and he challenges SAS in way that they’ve been wanting to for a long time. That makes them tune in and brings more relevancy to first take.

Stephen A has earned the right to brag and name drop like nobody’s business. Why? Because his enthusiasm is authentic and the rhetoric is backed up with true knowledge of the facts and an understanding that the source of those facts is a human being. I love that he starts his argument each and every time with, “This is what I saw,” on the court or playing field and he has educated himself enough about the intricacies of the game to be able to intelligently articulate his argument such that the player or coach to whom he is speaking cannot hide behind the cliché of, “Well, Stephen A, you never played the game.”

Great episode. So cool to see SAS outside of First Take.

SAS is an excellent person to learn from - it's amazing how many people get caught up in his theatre and miss the brilliance of what's behind it. Well wishes that you keep growing and adding value SAS!

I completely respect Stephen A. I think he actually cares about treating his colleagues with respect.

This was so real and authentic. People love to rail Stephen A for no reason, but this is behind the curtain. Wonderful to watch and tremendous job by Stephen A, JJ and Tommy.

I’m so glad Stephen A. decided to not be a political pundit because that was some of the most reductionist commentary that fits so much of the 24/7 political punditry today. Otherwise a really great conversation, I enjoyed his candidness.

He right that you can't agree 100% on just one side, they both make mistakes...

@@carlosromero-sn9nm I’m sorry man but if your political perspective is narrowed through the lens of just “liberals vs. conservatives” or “democrats and republicans” instead of the material conditions that affect this country and the rest of the world, I don’t have much use for that opinion. At that point it’s just for show and not about actual problems.

@@jjgasteier sure its narrow, but there's an obvious problem when the media or the majority of people picks sides and just continuosly says this side is good the other are bad. That's basically the argument of half the country...
