Hindsight is 2020. The problem wasn't the Spurs load managing (they had players who were constantly making the post-season and needed rest). The problem is that other teams started doing it for players who weren't 10+ years in the league making deep runs every year.

Tbf spurs were load managing for a reason. That was to save their older core to do the business in the post season - which is what they did. Today players are load managing to get paid in the long run rather than post season.
