Will is absolutely correct, he said it perfectly. Black athletes are treated differently, but Lebron's example was bad. In the sense of an autograph seeker its a terrible example actually, white athletes get it the same. Again, we cant use race for every single argument or it then cheapens it when it actually should be used.

As usual, Will is the most reasonable person on the show and is always right because he approaches topics logically and not emotionally. It's also really refreshing to read the comments and see that a large number of people are starting to realize that Will is the one who talks sense when it comes to these topics. I was expecting the usual accusations of Will being racist simply because he's the only person ESPN hired who has a different perspective and people on the left are generally intolerant of anyone who disagrees with them and would rather smear them than have a conversation. For example, look how crazy First Take went at Tiger Woods simply because he doesn't feel the same way about Trump as they do. Stephen A. Smith even went as far as to say Tiger isn't even black (even though he was black as hell when he was winning all those majors but, now that he didn't say what we wanted him to say, who knows what race he actually is).

I'm a mid 30s black male, and I enjoy this discussion. It has to be heard from both sides. Obviously, in America, black males are looked and judged differently. It's a reality. Whether, on a job for a promotion, in the shopping mall, how we dress, or even just walking down the street. It's a reality. That being said, the conversation is good to have. Because it allows people to open their thoughts and to speak freely on how they feel. This all goes way way back on history. But one thing I do know is, that there has been progress. Judging and stereotypes come from home. Racsim, comes from home. Your perspective and way of thinking about another race comes, from being taught at home, your church, religion, and at times from your own race. I do not think it will ever end, but if we continue to discuss it, we can make little progress.

I watched a rerun of your show last night highlighting LeBron James’ comments about the treatment of black and white athletes. I want to say thank you as I appreciated the depth, clarity, and intelligence of the discussion amongst the three of you and the various perspectives provided. Steven A., I have always appreciated the candor, sometimes uncomfortable candor, you share outlining issues and your perspective, and this discussion was no exception. I believe you challenge people and their thought process in a constructive manner. Max, I am usually intrigued by the perspective you provide on issues like this, especially the open-mindedness and understanding you demonstrate being a member of the “tribe” (using the language from last night’s telecast) on the other side of the equation. Will, I was floored at the grace, professionalism, and accountability you demonstrated in your comments back to Max after he accused you of not understanding white privilege to the degree with which he shared. I think all of you advanced the conversation further than I’ve seen in quite some time. I wanted to thank you for that. Why? Well, you guys got this guy thinking. If I was listening accurately, Steven A. basically asked the question, “How do we fix this? What’s the solution? How do we get people to think and act differently?” I think Will shared the most effective solution and one that appealed to me most. It may also be the most difficult. We need to identify people as people as opposed to the tribes to which they belong. In addition, Will stated that this is the way he views people or at least tries to view people. I find this admirable. Perhaps I agree with this solution because I try to do the same. I could share a few examples but prefer to make this about the issue on the table and not about me. I took this perspective as an example of the words that get attributed to Gandi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Max countered with the challenge that most people still see and behave in a tribal manner. If I understood correctly, in the end Steven A. basically agreed with both Will’s and Max’s perspectives on this issue, we need to see people as individuals, but tribalism still divides us. I say all of that to try and advance the discussion even further. If the answer is to begin seeing each other as individuals instead of tribes, I pose this question, “What do we do inside our own tribes to challenge others tribal members to view the world differently, to view people as individuals?” In other words (and I’ll only use my tribe as an example here so I can speak from experience), when I’m sitting with a few of my white, male friends and someone makes a comment about blacks or Asians or women or whatever tribe I am not a member, what do I chose to do in that moment? Do I nod, agree, and go along with what was said? Or worse, do I become passive and complicit letting the comment go and not call out other members of my tribe because I don’t want to make them feel bad or more likely alienate myself from my own tribe although I know what they said was wrong? Or, do I take a stand and within my own tribe challenge members by telling my white, male friends, “I think you’re wrong and here’s why.” I like to think I choose the latter. I know I don’t always. I admit it. However, I think this is the place we need to begin heading towards if we are going to make efforts to change people’s minds and perspectives which will eventually change their behaviors. I think we have the best chance of making this change if we start calling out our own tribal members. Why? Because being a member of that tribe comes with an inherent credibility which we can use to influence others within the tribe. I think we can have more impact if we call out our own as opposed to members of other tribes. There’s a big difference if a white person says the treatment of black people is unjust as opposed to a black person saying the treatment of blacks is unjust. There can be more impact when a man says the behavior of another man is wrong and inappropriate as opposed to a woman calling that out. Yes, I’m saying whites need to call out whites. Men need to call out men. We need to call out bad behavior regardless but especially when we see and hear our own tribe doing it. I don’t know if you guys will see this or even read it, but you should know that you got at least one guy thinking or thinking even more deeply, and if your goal is to challenge perspective, get people to think deeper, and participate in the conversation, then mission accomplished. You scored.

Cops can pull you over for saying you look “suspect”...ask if you have a weapon, you tell them yes,and seconds later you’re dead! Were your ancestors hung from trees ,or pulled out of their relatives home in the middle of the night for smiling and allegedly whistling at a white woman and beaten and killed? Oopdots Is me But the context according to the society that we're living in says there's a double standard when it comes to blacks and whites. Who cares if it wasn't the best example because we all understand what he's actually trying to say and what's his actual point. Spending time debating if it was an accurate or inaccurate example seems like a waste of time for me and immature because it's deviating from the bigger point. If MLK was present and delivering a powerful speech, if his example wasn't the best but at least his overall bigger picture message was on point and 🔥 you think I would spend energy on whether that was the best example or not he could of use? But I do understand it's a debate show I guess

DAMN!! Will Cain was actually right about this one lol in fact these days as of late, he's been very consistent. That being said Not everything has to be about race...It would be one thing if he would be naturally be direct about things but that was not the case. LBJ has the passive knowledge of people watching his every step. if thats the case why complain about it. It comes with the territory and he knows it. Don't be mad cause you got caught out of character with fans that just wanted an autograph. Regardless of the timing or situation.

When black people stop blaming the white man for everything, maybe they can make progress.... Black people have no ceiling in America just like white people. You can choose how far you want to go in life. There are obstacles but with enough strength and perseverance, you can accomplish anything. That is what the American Dream is. Nobody is holding you down, no matter how much your racist uncle told you so.

Ok so basically you are.saying that they both are great leaders in your eyes. Not gonna lie I never saw anyone.makong a big deal about Brady screaming at players. ESPN and other networks ran that Lebron video for weeks and many specifically said that didn't make him a good.leader despite the circumstances of emotions. Aaron Rodgers is in my opinion the best QB of all time but he does it ad well. All are good leaders but that's not the point. The point was the double standard.

People need to learn their basic rights: you have the right to speak to, speak about, comment on, and record people, without their consent, in public. Again, there is no right to privacy in public. For the third time, you can be recorded, spoken to, accosted etc. at any time, and without your consent, as long as you are in public. Finally, if you forcibly stop someone from recording you (speaking to you as well) in public, you have likely committed a crime (assault) against that person.
