Thoughts from the video.. everyone is blinded by corruption and fear(the monster). The kids can see because of their innocence. The girl in the beginning is crying because she see's the man get shot, and in turn how corrupt the world is, and becomes blindfolded by fear. Although they witness the death of the man, some people choose to stay blind(the media, police, some citizens), while others take off their blindfolds and choose to see the world for what it is. It show's how the police isn't inherently a bad person(he has a wife and baby). It also shows the racial prejudice cast upon blacks in america(the police starts chasing the kid) and starts having a manic episode where he is being chased and controlled by fear(in this case of the black community). Thus, the man with the torch is shot and killed in the "crossfire". It is up to the youth to pick up the torch and continue to help people see. If anyone has any other thoughts let me know!

I disagree, I think you're wrong. I think it's about world hunger and how whales have no rights compared to humans, that's why it shows all the humans blindfolded. But note that there are no whales in the video, coincidence? I don't think so. I think it's unfair, and that's the point he's trying to get across.
@LightTheBlackMage8 жыл бұрын
Feel like your pretty accurate except for the racial part. I think the police kills the man because, just like you said, was being controlled by "fear". the "fear" wanted to kill the man because he was the first of the blinded to see the truth. "fear" knew that if he stayed alive, soon all the world could see truly. call me crazy but that's my theory.

Interesting video. Lady Justice, the Demonic female figure who laughs out loud, is now blind or at least has always been. Blind to issues she'd much rather have us ignore or forget. I like how the ending the blindfold from Lady Justice is placed directly into the view of the viewers, (us) so that we can also be blinded or ignore in the injustices of the world. :(

The part where the blindfolded police officer shot him, saw what he'd done, realized the truth for a second, but he got blindfolded again by others. It shows how majority of people in society follow "do as Romans when you are in Rome" rather than "fight for justice". That was a really powerful message. Edit: Oh wow 1K+ likes... This world is rotten to its very core, is corrupt as f.ck since beggining, parasites (aka "elites" bankers, politicians, corporations, media etc) always invent and use new methods to manipulate, control, enslave "sheeps" to keep them "blind" stupid, submissive, to make them to breed , to produce more and more slaves to work for these parasites. "Freedom" is just an illusion, you are "free" to serve parasites, to entertain, to die for their insane greed. Humanity is on the suicide self-destruction path. Corruption kills and destroy more then weapons, more then anything.

kos mos u serious? It's OUR fault. Don't blame others. We built our society this way by supporting the media. And nowadays people like U in the internet comes out of nowhere and tries to tell people like ME the so called "truth" about media and the world. Open your mind buddy. It's not just the media. It's our fault and we will pay for our weakness. That's the truth. And I'm not only talking about media at this point. Everyone seems like walking around in a blind way. But in one point @Cringey Fago is right. You're dangerous for the government if you're different. I live it by my own. I wasn't born in a lucky life. I had and have to fight for things that others have got when they was born. It isn't easy for me to get what I deserve, life isn't fair and that's what makes me mad. Just think of for one sec. It's not the media who makes us weak. It's the system of destiny. And it isn't enough to know about it. You can take of your blindfold but you will stay weak when you can't use your knowledge. I read it so many times "people got their eyes open" - alright, okay. And now? It doesn't change anything. Because those people don't use their knowledge. It's like you want to keep a secret. Then everybody knows about the secret. And that's the point where u say "alright now fuck it they can't do anything anyway." That's how it works. And I want to be honest, I am also weak like you and all the others. But I currently fight for get my voice reach the world someday. I want to change something.

Ok, the message of the video: The song itself describe how society is blind to what is actually going on and usually just pull their thoughts out of no where without knowing the full story. These tend to happen when medias, news, and other people's input brings up false or unnecessary proof that can cause people to get the wrong idea. The song itself is NOT about racism, its about how certain people get caught in the "crossfire" and cause the media to create a bad image of theirselves. These bad images can ruin lives and can make it a living nightmare for people to move on in life. SYMBOLS IN THE MUSIC VIDEO: Blindfolds: The blindness of society Torch: The truth or "good" (Lights the way and shows people the truth) Black Demon or something? : Conflict/Bad/Blinds society from the truth The Boy who runs from the officer: I'm guessing the boy represents how people with valid information(honest witnesses) tend to ignore situations where their word can mean everything. The boy runs away from the officer because he refuses to pass down the information and the boy does not seems to want to be involved in the case. The boy picks up the torch at the end to show how he realizes that his words are the TRUTH and can mean everything. The Officer: Shows how a random citizen who has no history of racism and is just a normal person can end up being known as a horrible person across the whole state from a mistake. The proof that he is not a racist towards black people is how he has a black wife who he seems to care dearly for. The officer is just a regular guy who ends up as a despised person among society because of his actions. The Black Man Who is Shot: Supposed to represent the overall music video which is racism. Also represents how he tells the truth and "frees" everyone from being blind If you read the description of the video, it states that the music video is about one huge problem with today's society. Racism, Discrimination, and of course rumors. At the beginning clip of the video it looks like the black man with the torch is helping and saving everyone from blindness to the truth. Then out of no where it just looks like a police officer shows up with a gun drawn to his the black man's chest for no reason. The video then shows the past where you see how the police officer is just a regular man who is not racist and is just trying to do his job so he can support his family. When the black demon (conflict) begins to surround him he panics and chases after conflict blind. The torch (truth) is then knocked out of the black mans hand and the black demon (conflict) hides behind the black man to lure the police officer into shooting him. The officer thinking that he finally ended the conflict, is surprised as he sees that another man was caught in the "crossfire" of his gun and how he actually caused the conflict to rise. People and news reporters surround the scene and begin to give off false information because they're still blinded (at least most of them are.) Alright, I love this song and the music video because it perfectly represents what today is like. The world is filled with rumors, false information, and people who are caught in the "crossfire." Now if you'll excuse me, its 4 in the morning and I need sleep (fuck am I doing at 4 in the morning writing a damn essay on a music video?)

I can just tell. And also you wasted your kindergarten break time writing this bull crap which has no like and 2 REPLIES. Like, fix your life before you ruin others. No hate btw xx (Actually there is quite a lot of hate in this text. Don't waste your time on this explanation that I read a quarter of. I was too bored tbh :) If you do this to a boring song LORD KNOWS what you do to others .-.

Where does he say the videos about racism? He mostly just stating the video symbols and what they mean. EDIT: The funny thing is you tell him not to contradict himself (although he obviously didn’t) and then you OBVIOUSLY contradict yourself (even though you stated it you still didn’t fix it) . After that you just completely insult him like it’s nothing. Also not everybody is rich. Everybody can’t afford a private tutor. (In case it wasn’t clear he’s just quoting the description) EDIT: Your wrong about 4 things in your sub-comment including: 1. He has 30 likes. 2. You didn’t take into account your sub-comment when you said he has 2 sub-comments. 3.He didn’t say the video was about racism. He quoted it was about racism. 4. How could you said you read 1/4 of the comment and still found the parts that you mentioned? (Yes I am calling you a liar) BTW how dare you call this song boring this song has an amazing message and the video/audio is awesome. As stated by Stephen himself, this song is about innocents who suffer in the world, specifically refugees from war torn countries. The people who're blindfolded are representations of society being blind to the suffering other people go through, and it's not until reality is placed in front of them that they realise the suffering in the world, hence the police officers shock after he shot the innocent man.

Keiry Tenorio-vargas true even when you have it so good you will fail to see your life being better than that of your neighbor... it’s a good song but people abuse it just like how this video shows an example of that blindness and abuse of other peoples message for their own propaganda... I support no one who damands the deaths of others. And trying to paint a picture that isn’t true is all to easy to do because that’s what propaganda is. Media does it. Politicians do it. Movement and activist do it. Reality is that we are all humans and the fact that if you excuse your violent actions for that which already happened or for that which never happened but was claimed to happen is the problem you will see... for example the claims this video showed was in the narrative of being pro BLM and anti police painting police as the monsters while only showing black communities as the innocent with no sense of law breaking or anything. This is what propaganda is literally. The original video was made to be so much more than this and you can tell that this is oddly placed and replaced in narrative using different video but adding the same audio track to push their own narrative. This is why I hate BLM they don’t care about black lives they never did. All they care about is being aloud to act like savages and criminals with no sense of remorse or fear of consequence for their actions... meanwhile reality sinks in way deeper than we realize while we claim to care about the less fortunate those who push for these activists movements tend to be hiding darker secrets that they might be ashamed of and that might be why the push these narratives activism is now a sense of self justice and self shaming denialist who fail to own up to their mistakes and forgive themselves instead rather repent blindly to something that sounds nice... This is the same shit that politicians pushed for when letting in refugees into Europe who raped thousands of Europeans and murdered thousands more... yes some of them were refugees but the rest were infiltrators wanting to invade the country they took advantage of when given the opportunity... these people are the exact same people who claim that Christians are all evil and that Muslims are all peaceful... they like to paint Christianity as this violent cult while refusing to acknowledge all the horrible things that was brought because of the Quran... I’m talking the traditional Quran and the same texts they follow to this day... sharia law and Islamic faith... I have Muslim friends and they all agree with me that these people they claim are good and innocent are actually evil people who murder and rape our societies... wake up. The media won’t tell the truth and they refuse to cover the truth about the refugees because Merkel ordered all media that covers refugees in a negative lighting to be censored... she is Hitler and betrayed Europe and the people she swore to protect... she is a horrible person who refuse to acknowledge the 500,000 rapes that happened in less than a year caused by refugees! 1/100th of those cases were murders where the victim was killed after being raped which is even scarier to think of. I’m American but even I acknowledge lies when I see them about reality.

He'd trade his guns for love, But he’s caught in the crossfire, And he keeps wakin up, But its not to the sound of birds, The tyranny, the violent streets, Deprived of all that we’re blessed with, And we can’t get enough Heaven if you sent us down, So we could build a playground, For the sinners, to play as saints, You’d be so proud of what we made I hope you got some beds around, Cuz you’re the only refuge now, For every mother, every child, every brother, That’s caught in the Crossfire I’d trade my luck to know, Why he's caught in the crossfire, And I’m here wakin' up, To the sun and the sound of birds, Society’s anxiety, Deprives of all that we’re blessed with, We just cant get enough Heaven if you sent us down, So we could build a playground, For the sinners, to play as saints, You’d be so proud of what we made I hope you got some beds around, Cuz you’re the only refuge now, For every mother, every child, every brother, That’s caught in the Crossfire Can I trust what I’m given? When faith still needs a gun, Whose ammunition, Justifies the wrong? And I can’t see, from the backseat, So I’m asking from above, Can I trust what I’m given, Even when it cuts? So Heaven if you sent us down, So we could build a playground, For the sinners, to play as saints, You’d be so proud of what we made I hope you got some beds around, Cuz you’re the only refuge now, For every mother, every child, every brother Who’s caught in the crossfire, Who’s caught in the crossfire, Who’s caught in the crossfire, Who’s caught on the cross... Enjoy and have a good night / afternoon / midnight

Stevie Y Nope, she's right. It's playground indeed. What's the sense of building a plague? It's some kind of disease, so how is it possible to build it? :P Playground can also be a field where you can play some games- in this case that would be a 'theatre game' or a 'roleplaying game'. It's not always a place with slides, swings, sandboxes and stuff. All's good ;)

Most times music videos ruin the songs for me. But this one just added a whole new layer of meaning and depth to the song! Omg, I cannot really express into words the excellence and love and power that Stephen and everyone else put into this. This video/song will mean different things to different people. So here's my take...The blindfolds show the blindness of most people when it comes to matters of justice and tragedy. Children's innocence and honesty allows them to see clearly. And as for the man with the torch (Malcolm?), I think he was "shedding light" on the truth and on the danger and silent influence of the creature(s). I'm not really sure what the creature represents. It could represent many things; corrupt government, sin, our dark side, injustice, blame, etc. Or all those things together. The issue with the police officer shows how he may have tried to do the right thing, but because of his blindness, made a mistake. Causing Malcolm to get get "Caught in the Crossfire". So Officer Rowan saw clearly, for a moment, the sad reality of his actions. Unfortunately, as the crowded dove in on the dying man, justice was once again clouded from clear perception as he was blindfolded again. I think it's significant that at the crime scene, the poor citizens weren't blindfolded but all the police officers were. If we fire our blame at someone we think is in the wrong, someone in the right will get caught in the crossfire.

I feel as though this song not only speaks the truth about society as it is now, but how the people act upon the society. For example, if something goes wrong in the government, or if rumors are spread, they believe what they are told instead of researching it themselves to find out the truth. If we don't know the truth, there is no way we can act upon what we know if we can't make it better. Thank you for putting this video out, it really shows a lot of who we as people are, and that we can change.

Thank you for having great taste in music and for being a person and artist I will continue to stand by you. I have been in the shadows of platforms and some areas of performances you have done and have been silent for years listening to you and the messages in your work. There is a lot that you share that people don’t know between the videos and music/ words/ poetry phrases you inquire in everything including your life. You are humbled courageous strong mentally and physically yet broken in ways only those closest around can see. Your authenticity is conformation that everyone is equally messed up and how you choose to be is the difference between each person. Thank you for opening my eyes for years. This has been on my mind and finally had the gull to say it. Thank you for taking the time to read this if you do Stephen

What I think all this represents is: The monster represents fear and everything bad in the world. The blindfolds are things people use when they don't want to see all the bad things. When the blindfold comes off, we see all the terrible things in the world. When we see it, we put the blindfold back on. But, you can't unsee what you have seen.

Holy fucking shit. This really captured the gritty and intense aesthetic that I imagined would be part of an audiovisual experience to this track. The visuals and cinematography look very professional, and I really love the sleek bluish hue cast over the nighttime setting (reminds me a lot of John Wick). It contrasts well with the grim yellows and browns near the homeless encampments. The quality of the photography on your Instagram page is impressive as hell, so to get such a well-made video complete with 4K resolution is a fitting match for the potential suggested by the idea of a music video from you. I heard your album is out this month and I cannot contain my excitement at all for it.

I believe this song has a deep underlying spiritual meaning behind it. I feel this is a song that references the accusation of human sin among God's creation by demons and the choice humanity faces on which life to live. If you listen closely to the song, you'll notice a change in tone with the different verses, referencing three distinct actors: the narrator, demons, and humanity (in this case represented by an individual human's perception on their situational take of the world drawn down by the consequences of sin). I'll break it down within the lyrics to show the differences and what I feel they refer to: (Crying) This is the person conflicted by a choice. VERSE 1: The narrator (based on the use of third-person pronouns in the first half of the verse) is describing this humanities suffering in a world fueled by sin and how it is hard to escape from the temptations going on around. He'd trade his guns for love But he's caught in the crossfire And he keeps wakin' up But it's not to the sound of birds The tyranny, the violent streets Deprived of all that we're blessed with And we can't get enough, no CHORUS 1: The first and second chorus are identical to each other. These are the fallen angels who've tempted mankind and created the world it is today. They are antagonizing God, bragging about their corruption of the world and stating that there is no hope left apart from God (the only refuge from the chaos of this world). Heaven if you sent us down So we could build a playground For the sinners to play as saints You'd be so proud of what we've made I hope you got some beds around Cause you're the only refuge now For every mother, every child, every brother That's caught in the crossfire That's caught in the crossfire. VERSE 2: This is now the thought of the person (based on a change from the usage of third-person pronouns to first-person pronouns), pondering why certain things are the way they are and why bad things happen to good people, as well as the opposite. The person is also conflicted with the choice to continue to follow God or fall back into the world. I'd trade my luck to know Why he's caught in the crossfire And I'm here wakin' up To the sun and the sound of birds Society's anxiety Deprived of all that we're blessed with We just can't get enough, no! CHORUS 2: These are, again the fallen angels continuing to taunt God's creation. Heaven if you sent us down So we could build a playground For the sinners to play as saints You'd be so proud of what we've made I hope you got some beds around Cause you're the only refuge now For every mother, every child, every brother That's caught in the crossfire. That's caught in the crossfire. VERSE 3: This is a powerful question and statement posed to God by this person. The person, who's belief and faith in God is wavering due to the evil seen in the world. The person sees believers sinning and justifying their sin through religion and is tired of the misconception of what it truly means to follow God. The person asks God for strength in faith. The person knows that the world is against the ways of God and the fresh life God gives, they run from the truth because the truth goes against the reality the world lives in, cutting against the grain of society. Can I trust what I'm given? When faith still needs a gun Whose ammunition justifies the wrong? And I can't see from the backseat So I'm asking from above Can I trust what I'm given, even when it cuts? CHORUS 3: The last chorus, although it contains the same word structure, two things are different. The tone of the song changes from one deprived of hope to one pleading for a renewal of hope. Secondly, the chorus begins with the adverb "so." These two things are significant in that this now becomes the voice of the person rather than the voices of the fallen angels. The person is inquiring from God about their own role in this life, acknowledging that there will be people who follow the world, even those who say they believe in God but do not follow Him. Even though this truth is hard to bear, this person accepts the way things are and pleas to God on behalf of humanity that suffers through it. So Heaven if you sent us down So we could build a playground For the sinners to play as saints You'd be so proud of what we made I hope you got some beds around Cause you're the only refuge now For every mother, every child, every brother That's caught in the crossfire Who's caught in the crossfire Who's caught in the crossfire Who's caught on the cross Everything will always point to the truth in the end. Even songs that originally had nothing to do with God, He is revealed through them. Listen between the lines with the songs you listen to and let me know what spiritual symbology you find. God bless you all and remember that Jesus loves you!

Curtis Ryken I think only the lyrics mean that but the video itself is how blind people are in society. If you watched till the end you see that the officer shot the guy thinking he was the ‘person’ once he shot him the blind fold came off meaning he found out the truth. And when the other office came the put back the blind fold representing the cover ups that they will do and the lies the told the officer that shot the guy.

The reason they put back the blindfolds is so that they may continue to be blind in the errors of they do.
