It's always special when you put a new club in the hands of Golden State Warriors All-Star and all-time great, Stephen Curry. This video gives you an exclusive look at our full Paradym Ai Smoke driver fitting with him.
Stephen had one heck of a year on the course with a massive W at the American Century Championship in Tahoe in July and moves the ball like a tour pro, so we were excited to get an even better driver in his hands. What played out that day was extremely impressive.

After watching this video I say to myself… He’s right back in the same set up with the shaft Steph had on his gamer. Johnny talks fast so you have to pay attention or you’ll get misguided with his BS. At the end, Steph hits his best shot of the day with 1800 spin, which Johnny said numerous times during the video is bad, but then ended it on the best shot.. which had 1800 spin. Then states average ball speed went up 4mph and average carry went up 6 yards. Here’s where you have to pay attention to catch his BS.. He says at the beginning, I want you to hit 5 stock shots, we’ll go from there. Steph‘s first 2 swings looks like he’s laying off, not really swinging 170 & 171 ball speed. 3rd swing ball all of a sudden ball speed is 176, 4th swing 177. (let’s forget about swings 1 & 2 and only use swings 3 & 4) I think at this point Johnny realizes Steph’s hitting the ball with too much ball speed for this comparison, so he needs to get the Ai Smoke into his hands asap. Ai Smoke ball speeds 176 & 177, with a 178 then the finale 180 (which was only achieved because 1800 spin) in essence, not much was gain if anything, maybe 1mph ball speed, I didn’t see any distance gained. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on the driver, I do currently play a Paradym X, which I love and hit 1000 times better than any other driver on the market and yes I’ve tried them all. And yes I’ll probably pick up an Ai Smoke at some point, it probably plays a hair better and the color scheme looks better. I just find it super amusing if you pay attention to the things they say to make you think you’ll get crazy gains with these new models. Is it better? A little bit, but not 4 mph ball speed and/or 6 yards carry better. I don’t like watching reviews from the company that makes the product, I prefer watching reviews from other trusted and independent KZbin channels. That’s all have a good day.

For the record, need to defend this here. That last shot did not spin at 1674. Not sure where it came from as on my numbers from the session it was 10.8 Launch at 2241RPM. Although you will have a response to this which I’m sure will be negative. The point to the video was always to mitigate his miss which we did. It’s 20 minutes of a 45 minute driver fitting. It’s ok if you think we suck at our job or if you think getting excited about new product is lame. Totally fine. It’s a free country. No one is forcing you to buy it. The results were positive and Steph was happy with the driver. I fit all of his stuff and know what works and what doesn’t. It’s fun guys. Keep it fun. This isn’t an IRS video. It’s golf. Chill out.

Its not the drive distance that matters, but consistency and placement. Schefler hit 430 yard drives at the Sentry this weekend and still lost the tournament by a mile. However, I am very impressed by the 300+ yard carries by Steph

I get that you LIKE the look of a certain ball flight but why would Curry want to go with an inferior launch angle over the optimum? He goes to 15 deg from 10 deg with spin of 1600 to 2500 and he's going to get 10 more yards of carry. Even over spun at 3000 rpms is going to give a longer flight at 15 deg.

Life is tough for Steph Curry. 🤣 After watching, it really wasn't apples to apples with Johnny switching up loft and head weights. Those variables could have contributed to the different performance, correct? In other words, it was as much the fitting as the equipment, perhaps.

I would expect the mentality is that the current gamer is fit to him and therefore optimal (there is an assumption here as people will change over time) then the amendments with the new are to find the optimal. Don’t think there’s any BS but maybe had the old been refit gains could have been made…I guess we’ll never know

That’s the point of the fitting. When I fit, I know within 1-3 swings (depending on how good the player is) if that set up is doing what I want it to. You change it up before someone gets too locked in to changing their swing for the current set up

You know, I find fitting videos like this to mostly be interesting. This one is so boring. Wunder just feels like he's reading out of a catalog and is just spouting data and Steph sounds bored. If you're going to do this, you need someone like Trottie or the TXG guys who goes super in depth with what he's doing and you can tell they have passion for what they are doing.
