I worked for Stephen J. Cannell. Yes, he was a nice as you would imagine. The only Republican I ever liked. Great boss, and incredibly generous. Christmas was insane with all the gift cards he gave us, the annual Christmas lunch that cost him a fortune, paid to have a nurse come to the office give us all flu shots and paid for everyone's birthday lunch every year. My parents were not as generous as Stephen. It was very sad when he passed away. Sadly, his death was preventable. I hope everyone will take skin cancer seriously. Get a skin check every year!

Anyone else feel like this guy was a friend to you? You'd seen him so many times, he was so familiar to you, and you couldn't wait for him to pull the paper from the typewriter? I miss him. I was very young in he 80s, but still managed to catch a bunch of his shows. I liked when "The Simpsons" did a homage to him. It's reported when Stephen Cannell met the producers he was so happy with the homage he gave them a hug :)

@Pinky39559 I never even watched Castle though my favorite was 21 Jump Street but even if that show didn't come on I'd never change the channel because the man behind the typewriter was the man who inspired me to want to do more than just watch TV I had a feeling he was telling me something even though I never met him but I never even knew it was actually him typing in the typewriter to begin with and the reason why I never even knew he was dead was because I was working back then.

This isn't the same guy who wrote the horror books, is it? When I was 12 years old, I read 'final victim" in my English class's silent reading period. My memory is a little foggy, but I seem to recall it being about a hairless, serial-murdering, sexual sadist who violated women with knives (and all sorts of other wholesome stuff.) Even though I don't remember many specifics, the vibe is still kind of seared into my memory. We had to do a book report in front of the class, and this is one of my earliest memories of lying by omission in order to avoid getting myself into trouble.
