I don't believe talking about social injustice got him fired. The NBA is a socially conscious league. Remember this is the league that pulled the NBA All-Star game from Charlotte due to the bathroom regulations. I don't believe the excuse Memphis management issued about performing below expectations because Mike Conley has missed 6 games of this 8 game losing streak. If any team is missing their best or 2nd best player the team is going to struggle. Memphis has a management issue because this is the 3rd good coach they have fired in the last 5 years.

@@yusufmoor8495 Look up Penny Hardaway and his contract with the Suns or Amar’e Stoudemire with the Knicks. There is always risk with these injuries and sometimes it pays off but rarely has it worked in the past unless it’s phenomenal rehab and so gms weigh the risk of these injuries differently when it comes to contract time but race ain’t got nothing to do with it and there’s pretty clear evidence to back that up.

Yeah Stephen Jackson makes sense but I disagree where he says that nobody is calling out Parsons and that Gasol should be putting up Boogie Cousins numbers. I guess he didn't see that Parsons has been getting booed at home games all year so he can't say Parsons is getting a pass. And everyone knew the type of player Gasol was before he signed that contract. He's an all-star player with great all around skills but he isn't a dominant big like KAT, AD, Cousins, Embiid, etc. You can't expect him to become that just cuz of the money. That's unfair to him and unrealistic.

He also does a lot of hatin on players that he would be lucky just to share the floor with, and Stack swear that he was hated on himself and that's why he wasn't an allstar. If a person listens enough this foo talk like he was a hall of famer or some all world all time great 😭. Outside of the "Malice in the Palace" what was this dudes defining NBA moments or moment? This goes back to last season when Fizdale benching Randolph and Allen (encouraging them to leave) implementing a a Helter Skelter starting lineup - continuing this season benching Parsons and Evans and starting D League players like Ennis, Martin and McLemore. It caught up with him and he got desperate clearing the bench and blaming Marc Gasol! Fizdale asked to be fired when he lost control of the team! The players knew the best starting 5 were Parsons, Evans, Chalmers, Gasol and Conley! They should have been getting the max minutes!

Stephen isn't wrong but he can't blame Chandler Parsons alone. Tony Allen is a defensive force but an absolute liability on offense at times, and z bo wasn't even the best one on the court in his time in Memphis. So Fizdale still had soldiers in Marc Gasol, Conley, Tyreke Evans, and even Ben Mclemore. I don't believe he should have been fired, but I also don't believe the Chandler Parsons is to blame for the recent skid in Memphis. I think that the issue is ultimately with ownership and the higher ups of that organization.

Chandler Parsons - 8.8 pts, 2.8 rebs, 2 assists a game. 13 pts, 5 rebs, 3 rebs a game for his career. And Memphis thought this was worth $100 mil ????? Like Stephen Jackson said, this is the same team that fired Lionel Hollins after coaching Memphis to their first Western Conf. Finals in franchise history.

Shannon Sharpe is can completely relate Stephen Jackson. The problem with David Fizdale and the reason why he quickly gets fired as a coach is that he tries to be a players friend rather than a leader. The other problem with Fizdale is that he does not get along with white players.

I agree with SJ 100%. Getting 100 mil means chandler need to ball out. He did have some good games but that's it. Inconsistent. People keep using Jo as an example. First of all, Jo produced when healthy, unlike chandler parsons. Second of all, Jo is staying healthy, only missed 2 games this year and not cuz of injuries. Hadn't had injuries for a while now, looking good, playing good. Like SJ said, not all basketball players are brothers. Stop grouping Jo with parsons

I understand how the media can often criticize players for not living up to his contract but they should be critical towards the GMs and front offices that offered these types of albatross contracts to begin with. Its nothing wrong being critical of professional athletes because that's part of the game. Laziness and lack of effort all warrants criticisms. But it's a bit narrow-minded to think that Gasol should put up AD or Cousins' stats just because he makes $20M+ a season. Nobody in their right mind including Skip, Sharpe & Stephen Jackson would decline a 5yr/$100M contract, even if they know they are incapable of meeting expectations. Guys like Gasol & Parsons got the financial security they wanted and they would work hard, compete and perform to the best of their abilities. Its the GMs & Front offices that are responsible to figure out and decide whether the player is capable of meeting expectations. After his 2nd season in Dallas that was again cut short due to injuries, Parsons never quite lived up to the expectations that Mark Cuban & Dallas had of him. Parsons was expected to star alongside Dirk and lead that team for many years. But after two short years, injuries, disappointments, & lack of success lead to them parting ways. Despite being a very talented player at 6'10 that possess versatility and all-around game, there were major red flags with Parsons. But the problem for Memphis is their inability to attract big names in FA so overpaying is one of their few options.
