Theres almost limitless ways to approach this story. Could be a haunted bathroom where a serial murder happened. Could be the entrance to an alternate dimension. There's a film called Glorious (2022) that's kind on a similar theme, it's a restroom out in the middle of nowhere and this guy is having a conversation with this ancient eldritch god behind one of the toilet booths. The whole film almost only takes place in this restroom, or just outside.

@@therevolutionwillnotbeyoutubed if you didn't think King was funny then you haven't really read his books. Some are disturbing (Pet Sematary, Rose Madder, Gerald's Game). Some are sad (The Stand, Dolores Claiborne, Hearts in Atlantis). And some anti-government ones (The Stand, Firestarter, The Tommyknockers) and those are the ones that have the most humor. I really enjoy the cynicism of Jim Gardner in The Tommyknockers. You can see a lot of his humor in many of his books.

Although personally, its also cool NOT to know what was in that bathroom....my mind will happily fill in the blanks and write its own fiendishly dark ending. Sounds like a perfect short little number from his 1990s collection 'Nightmares and Dreamscapes'. Are there any May 2024 people here with Kings new short story collection 'So You Like It Darker'?
