Great speech, frankly better than the questions afterwards. Interesting that now we do have an agreement, I wonder what Kinzer would say about it?

Great history, but kinzer ignored a key variable: much like the war on drugs, US is not very interested in actually maintaining stability in the region, as it's involvement in the Iran / Iraq war exemplifies.

I’ve listened to 6-8 hours of Kinzer, promoting his different books. I like most all his points. The problem I have with him, is he never mentions the Israeli involvement. Why not, Mr. Kinzer? Why don’t you write a book about that?

@@luisjgt1 I have seen him mention it before. Basically he criticizes the fact that you can’t say anything about them. He said he envies Israeli journalists because ironically they have more freedom to criticize Israel than Americans ones do haha

Mr. Kinzer dares say things contrary to the official narrative and although he seems to have some partisan bias, whatever he says comes from serious and extensive research and that is where we have a better chance to find the truth, propaganda free. I saw many many presentations of his and I am a huge fan.

Could you please let me know which book of Kinzer covers this information? He frequently says if I tell everything, there is no point to buy the book. Which book does he talk about?

Past enmities aside America and Iran share much in common including our three branches of government executive, legislative, and judicial, Iranians see the supreme leader as its judicial branch potato, patato. I get it Iran to Americans seem less then ideal and vice versa but you have to deal in reality, and the reality is Iran is much more American then even Israel. Sure they have Hezbollah but many including me view our millitary as anything but the American Dream. The first step to making the world safer and more democratic is to admit many of our millitary exploits have been less then legal and democratic.

mathew idicula "sure they have hisbAllah" Yeah. That's no small point. hisbAllah and Iran have targeted, killed, and assisted in the killing of thousands of Americans. This is no "aside".

Well, if we look at the totality of extra-judicial assassinations by US drones all over the world, we must conclude that the American Empire has operated more infamously than Attila the Hun and Ghengiz Khan combined. But in the spirit of reconciliation both sides might be willing to turn down the rhetoric. Except no-one believes US has any intention to resolve differences. Their way or the highway.

@@widg3tswidgets416 as we understand now, the American government itself has toppled many regimes and killed thousands of innocents. I think we need to recognize our own faults before pointing fingers. We are the most powerful nation in the world after all. Let’s have some humility and build these bridges.

I liked this presentation until you explained the axis of evil theory.Really Mr. Kinzer you know there is more to it than fill in the missing spot of the triangle. Please explain yourself with names and facts. Big fan. thank you.

He simply summed up a statement from David Frume who was the speechwriter of that axis of evil speech. He didnt summarize it very well however he was not incorrect. www.theguardian.com/world/2003/jan/28/usa.iran There is the link for your reading pleasure. Essentially they were trying to make a parallel between iraq and germany and did so utilizing WW2 axis of evil. North korea and Iran were thrown in for symbolism to mimic the germany, italy, and japan. They state they threw iran in after the fact in hopes to destabalize the country. never the less, reason for the speech is for no other reason than to try and justify a war against iraq. They severly damaged iranian and us relations all forconducting a pointless war.

Dear Mr Kinzer: Iran Did not get closer to united States and will never will get closer. Base on history, United States has one thing in its mind, either to colonies Iran, or to overthrow the government. Iran has her number one enemy which is it's own people and has strong enough Army to save Islamic Republic from internal revolution. By now grate majority of Iranians do not like Islam.

Well… Now, please check out these FACTS that are on the Web: "In 250 years of existence as a nation, the US has fought against 29 sovereign countries. (In Fact, since 1785, we have been involved, for 231 years, in some kind of war. And this wars, against all varieties of nations. From going against the Sultan of Morocco, to invading the tiny island of Grenada, 1983. Well, this means that in our entire history, we have only had 17 years of peace, and even fewer, cuz here the almost 5 years of our Civil War (Union/Confed 1861‒1865), are Not counted, since this war was not with another country, but against us. And the wars against the Native Nations of America either are not counted, for the same reason). Anyway: We fought against 29 countries. We have "Grown" 711 the size of our territory from the original 13 colonies. Our Economic, Political and Military development was established thanks to the Piracy, the Slavery, the Massacres, the Opium Trade or Cocaine Traffic, and the Weakness of many abused sovereign nations. We have provoked with total impunity, 12 Genocides and 9 Massacres, ‒inside and outside our own borders‒, and Assassinations of Gov’t. Leaders, Coups d'État and Economic Blockades in 6 UN member nations. Between 1947 and 1989, the US tried to change other nations gov’ts 73 times. It includes 66 covert Ops. And 7 overt ones. In Civil Wars: The US has taken advantage of and intervened without justification in the following Civil Wars: In Marquesas Island. (Massacre. 1813). US Forces seize Nuku Hiva Island (French Polynesia 1813), and establish here «The First US Naval Base», in the Pacific. This historical fact is important, cuz in 1813, the US had NO Territorial Land nor Maritime Rights in the Pacific Ocean, until 1848, when the US seized California and other Mexican territories facing the Pacific. In Haiti. (1813 and 1901 and then 1915-1919-1934-1995-2001). In the Philippines. (1898-1902. Genocide. One Million people dead). In Hawaii. (1889 and 1890-1893 and 1901). In Cuba. In Russia. (1918-1920). In the "Republic Banana Wars" of Central America. (Massacre. 1912-1934-1943). In Dominican Republic. (1916-1924 and 1965-1966). In Honduras. (1903 and 1912 and 1919 and 1924-1925 and again 2009). In Venezuela. (1936 and 1945 and again in 1948). Military Coup in Peru. (1948 and 1967). In China. (More than half a million deaths in ten years. 1980-1990). Support and funding of the Khmer Rouge of Pol Pot. (Genocide 1980-1982). In Angola-Namibia. (Massacre. 1980-1981-1984). Intervention in Grenada. (1983). Here, in Grenada, the US Rangers attack lasted 6 hours, since the tiny Island has no Army, no Navy nor Air Force. The Ranges fought against 287 fearsome Police Officers. Actually, half of these Cops, cuz the other half had not yet come to work the afternoon shift. LOL.
