I have heard this twice in live performance, both times in a church; most recently, last summer (2023). Both times it was deeply moving. "Pilgrims' Hymn", as sung in scene three, has become a beloved choral anthem, and my church choir is singing it this Sunday. I hope to hear the whole work again. If you haven't heard of Stephen Paulus or Michael Dennis Browne (the librettist who regularly collaborated with him), look them up.
