Michael Jackson was the better artist. And I know what you're thinking... But, but but Prince played instruments! He could write too! Yeah, well a lot of his writing wasn't all that great and it surely wasn't consistent. Prince had some great album cuts, but not as many hits due to that lack of consistency, thus he could never remain in the mainstream the way Michael did. That's not to say mainstream opinion is always the standard, but Michael had consistent quality production and writing that ensured he stayed ahead of Prince, and people love consistency. Also, Prince ran off a LOT of talent over the years. Michael literally did the exact opposite and put a lot of people on through sampling, production and writing. Teddy Riley, Darkchild, SWV, hell he even gave Rockwell a song that made him famous. Meanwhile, Prince gave rise to The Time, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the S.O.S. Band, and on and on and on. His fragile ego couldn't take anyone being better than him within his circle and acted like a P. Diddy of the 80s. So in case you haven't figured it out, I'm not a big Prince fan. I love Diamonds and Pearls and the Most Beautiful Girl in the World. Otherwise, you can keep the rest of his catalog. Oh, and Graffiti Bridge sucked.🗑💯(Also I hear folks say MJ wasn’t a writer lol the man is in the Songwriters Hall Of Fame for a damn good reason not only that, but he could also play instruments the piano,drums,acoustic guitar and synthesizer keyboard etc. MJ was beyond talented he was truly gifted Prince was no master in any of the instruments he played also there’s plenty of artists who play it better than him Jimmy Hendrix,Johnny Guitar Watson,Stevie Ray Vaughan etc. so to act like MJ wasn’t him is just hypocrisy/blasphemy not to mention MJ wrote 12 of his 13 Number 1’s (He only didn’t statistically write 13 of 13 of his Number 1’s cause he requested not to be credited in the writers credit even tho he was a writer and that song in specific was “Man In The Mirror” not many know this so yea MJ writing over succeed compare to Prince’s lackluster writing. And also there’s more to being a musician than just playing instruments just cause you play instruments doesn’t make you the better musician and in this case that’s the case MJ barely played instruments in public even tho he could this is actually factual and there’s footage of him doing it on tour during the Jackson 5 days as well but he superseded in the fields as a musician w/o instruments cuz he was truly the instrument, Prince was just a instrumentalist who needed dance class and was barely a passable singer tbh.)

I gravitated to MJ at a younger age when I was in dance but as I got older, I found myself leaning more towards Prince with his lyrics, the composition of his music and his performance. But I think it comes down to personal preference.

Chris' athleticism as a dancer is in a class by itself, but to let the words "Chris Brown is better than Michael Jackson" come out of your mouth is a sign you either are unaware of the extent of Michael's abilities, or you're seriously out of touch with reality. It wasn't just Michael's dancing that contributes to his legacy, it's what I call Michael's "signature." What i mean by signature is his interpretation of dances, and the energy that he generated on stage was something impossible for even the best impersonator to pull off. Look at James Brown & Michael Jackson dance comparison videos. He brings something out of James Brown's moves that Brown HIMSELF didn't. Don't even get me started on Michael's eclectic group of influences.. Nope, nope and nope. Chris Brown lost the opportunity to challenge in 2009, when he gave up trying to be the best artist he could be. If Michael Jackson retired at 19 after Off the Wall, his catalog from the Jackson 5 to Off the Wall would still be better than all of Chris Brown’s entire catalog to date. Chris Brown isn’t as calculating and ruthless as Michael Jackson was. Everything was planned years in advance and executed to precision. Albums took 3-4 years to made and released. Meanwhile Chris Brown releases a new song every year. At 29 MJ release Bad, Chris is 35 and his first two albums are still his best works. As for dancing MJ is still the better dancer, the only time Chris looks good dancing is when he pop locks like MJ. The flips are cool but it’s more B-boy than straight out dancing. He can still give us 2 solid albums, but this debate is non existent. It’s for the next superstar that has the talent and drive, that will challenge MJ.

You just have never explored Michael beyond the Bad album - homeboy could draw like a m'fer, wasn't necessarily an athlete but joined up with the greatest athlete of all time (the other MJ) , same with one of the greatest rappers of all time (Biggie on Michael's song "This Time Around") (and then Shaq on "2 Bad") and Michael's ultimate goal was to act (he starred with it in "The Wiz" with Diana Ross and Nipsey Russell in 1979) but he was recording the Off The Wall album at the tune and it took off in a way that we couldn't even imagine - but Michael just lived in a time where all of these aspects couldn't be explored in the way that they are now because of social media - but don't get me wrong, he did all that he did in the time that he had - you're just not educated enough about it
