As a snooker player I always looked down my nose as it were at pool players. My god how wrong of me. It's always really interesting when Gareth comes on the channel and his knowledge of pool and cue sports is absolutely 2nd to none. Thank you so much. Real respect 😀😀😀😀😀

Stephen calls pool 'checkers' and snooker 'chess' but if you listen to top pool players like Mick Hill analyzing pool layouts, it can get pretty bloody complex. The top players are thinkers.
@seed83257 ай бұрын
@@dhirajpallin2572 it does still require a lot of thinking and skill but it is still not comparable to the skill levels needed with a cue that snooker demands.. yeah pool is definitely checkers to snookers chess
@dhirajpallin25727 ай бұрын
@@seed8325 chess is not a game of hand/eye control though it's a game of patterns, memorisation and calculation. And in that respect I think English pool has far more of that than snooker. For example, pool players typically think 7 balls ahead, whereas snooker players usually only think about 2-3 balls ahead. The patterns and situations a pool player has to deal with are typically also a lot more varied.
@seed83257 ай бұрын
@@dhirajpallin2572 the metaphor has gone over your head.. snooker is by far the harder cue sport.. the metaphor is that chess is harder than checkers.. basically snooker is a harder cue sport than pool when you look at the game as a whole. yes pool takes skill but we have seen world champion snooker players beat world champion pool players in tournament setting .. its there, its documented.. but i have yet to see a professional pool player even slightly trouble a snooker player on a snooker table in a professional tournament setting. if i am wrong then please link the video and il be here waiting in the meantime
