He is too limited in general play, pinning CB's offers nothing to the build up of play. He needs to ability to drop and create space behind him (although i am not sure this formation creates forward runners). He should also study Harry Kane and his timing into the box, Kane is always making late runs, never just sits in the box waiting for crosses, that's too easy for defenders.

The difference against Brighton is the pressure. We're expected to dominate, so the players are tense and afraid to make mistakes. Against Liverpool, there's a freedom to express themselves because the expectation is lower. This fear of failure against teams like Brighton is crippling us.

I'm surprised how few United fans see that it'sall psychological. De Ligt is known to be calm in possession but on Sunday with options in front of him, he panics and passes back to Onana who's being pressed by two players. Onana slices it out of play. Onana makes ridiculous mistake after ridiculous mistake but at Inter and Ajax he was more known for Pirlo-esque through balls and being "unpressable" (according to Pep). The list goes on of players who make schoolboy errors in one game and world class performances in the next.

I like Amorim’s formation/system, but I would invert the front 3 so it was a number 10 behind two “strikers”. It would mean Bruno central again as a 10 and Amad and Højlund could play as a pair of wide-ish strikers. It would also reopen the door to Rashford
@Jason28.8 күн бұрын
Browsing through these comments and deary me, I have lost brain cells. Some of you calling for Amorims head haven't a clue. It's a pity it was just the television that was smashed in the dressing room. Player power has been a subject amongst fans for many years post Fergie. How do you eradicate that? Show them who calls the shots, even if it means lashing out, which was completely justified. We haven't got the correct profile of players yet to see the potential fruits of Amorims system. Look at the state of what he has inherited! A lot of good will come from this. It will take time, but we desperately need to offload mentally fringe players who aren't willing to put the effort in. If that starts with Garnacho leaving, happy days! Fans need to learn how to read between the lines and apply a bit of critical thinking. So many people take an agenda and run blindly with it without any thought. I support Amorim.

I want to touch on Rasmus thing and I agree with Steve and Ronaldo. Some people put Isak as as example, who is actually a few years older. When Isak wa Hojlund's age he was struggling and doing very similar numbers, then he grew and turned into striker he is now. I want to believe that Rasmus has huge potential, but he cannot, simply cannot be the main striker at this time. He needs time to develop and needs to be backed. One of the main problems with United is that there's too much defense in attack. They're attacking and defending at the same time, players are unsure when to attack and when to defend. They attack with a defending mindset, and so they because they're double minded, they end up losing their composure and end up losing the ball as well. They can't tackle either, so that makes matters worse off the ball. I don't think it matters to these players if they win a title or not as long as their weekly wages remain the same.

Said it before but I’ll say it again. I think it’s time we have a real discussion about the myth of the United academy graduates and arguments as to why we fight to keep them and how good they are. Before I do elaborate, this is not me saying that we should abolish the academy or never filter through youngsters, far from it. I’m asking, quality wise, is it actually producing what you think it is? Other than the crop who graduated under Sir Alex and I specifically mean Beckham/Nevilles/Scholes/Giggs/Butt - which other United academy graduates have not only had stellar careers for United but for another top European giant? You can’t even argue for Pogba or Pique because although they were at our academy at some point, their most productive years were elsewhere. So in the last 40 years or so, we’ve produced about 5 players who went on to have great/elite careers. Compare this to the Ajax academy, Sporting Lisbon, Sevilla, Valencia or Benfica. My point is, if Mainoo or Garnacho have a price, let them go. Chelsea let young talent go all the time, City are doing it. I’d bet my life savings that Mainoo will never be as good of a player as Scholes, therefore if that is/was the standard, why act like the player is unsellable. Garnacho will NEVER be as good as Ryan Giggs, he’s more likely to be another Januzaj - if good money comes, let players go and re-invest in players ready for now. Get rid of this “What If” mindset.

Hold on, if you're not counting players who had their best years at other clubs, how are you talking about Ajax, Sporting or Benfica who sell all their best players by the time they're 23? And a lot of those Sporting and Benfica players are signed from South America at 18.
@kingtchala68328 күн бұрын
@@tokinsloff312 I am counting players who had their best years at other clubs (I said you could argue Pogba/Pique). You are correct in saying those players at those other clubs don’t stay at those clubs for their careers. But I said what players has Carrington produced that have had STELLAR careers at United or another top European club? Carrington produces good/decent professionals which is all well and good, Michael Keane, Tom Cleverly, Danny Simpson, Januzaj, Welbeck, Phil Bardsley, Danny Higginbotham, Scott Mctominay, Paul McShane, Robert Ziegler, Hannibal, McNair, Jimmy Garner, Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Danny Pugh, Tyler Blackett, Zeki Fryers etc etc. In comparison, you think of the talent that has passed through those other clubs!! Again, this isn’t me saying let’s get rid of our academy or anything. However, this notion that if we lose Garnacho, we’re gonna have egg on our face is ridiculous. History tells us he’s more likely to have a career like Angel Gomes than Ryan Giggs.
@tokinsloff3128 күн бұрын
@ No, you said "you can't even argue for Pogba or Pique." The big difference with all those other clubs you've mentioned is that their young players get to develop without the scrutiny and pressure that United youth products have. I still think that 2 of the biggest transfer mistakes we've made since Fergie left were selling Welbeck and Jonny Evans, who had both proved they could play to their potential at United. Welbeck would always have been limited by his injuries, but he still would have been a better squad player than anyone we've bought for that role since he left. We should put a higher value on our academy products because that shirt is so heavy. Instead, for the last decade, we've consistently over-played and commercially exploited young players when we should have been protecting them like Fergie did with the class of 92. Having said all that, I'm actually not that bothered if we sell Garnacho, if we can get big money for him. We don't know if he's worth it yet, so it's worth taking the risk on him eventually exceeding that valuation. Finally, Angel Gomez is a weird choice to compare with Giggs. He's 24, he's just broken into the England team and we have no idea how far he might get in his career.

@ Of course I’m speaking in real hyperbole, yet I’ll bet my life’s saying that we’ll never mention Garnacho’s footballing achievements in the same breath as Giggs. Similar to yourself, if we get great money for him, I see it as a win. If he stays, fair enough. Having a career like Gomes is not a bad thing. He’s had to leave United for his career to take off. As you said, he’s in the England senior team now. Players not having the time to develop really has been the issue. A mixture of the atmosphere, pressure and management. I’ll be honest, Wellbeck and Evan’s were never a big miss for me. Wellbeck is injured as often as Luke Shaw and is far from a prolific goal scorer 104 goals in 466 appearances. Evan’s was a steady pro, nothing more nothing less, in my humble opinion. Lastly, I meant you can argue Pogba/Pique at a stretch. So that’s 2 players in the last 30+ years or so. I only have to compare this to Ajax - if I was to start naming the talent that has graduated from that academy, we’d be here all day.

how can a striker with the best goal conversion rate in the prem in the past year be horrible? hojland agenda stinking. the guy got 8 in a row last year in prem, 6 champions leaguge goals too class striker needs more then 1 half chance a game

Fanfare about the "conversation rate" from Hoijland has about as much value as Allardyce's amazing England record. 😂

@@MrGts92 and why is that? also, scoring 16 goals at 20 in that woeful team is amazing an serious player in there.

@@lartranslation6929 you show no evidence that it's purely a team issue or whether he's even making the right runs or not for a chance to happen. You show no heat map, no tactical play, no clips, nothing. All you have is some basic statistical stuff and zero context. "Best conversation rate" as I said as good as an undefeated record over a small number of games.

The problem with this team is that they are playing counter attacking football for a long time and we saw it happen with Ten Hag after 2-3,games he released that those players can’t play position football. Amorim has to stick to his plan no matter what

Just to remind that cost cutting HAS to be across the board, particularly when people are being made redundant. If people on normal wages are being told they are no longer needed as cost cutting is required, the club has to show that such cuts are being made to more executive positions that include Brand Ambassadors and nonessential, (and I know this pisses people off,) things like outreach and charity donations. Otherwise someone getting made redundant has a very good case for wrongful dismissal by simply citing, "They are STILL pissing money away on non club related stuff and these guys are getting paid millions to jet round the world with a Black Credit Card." That can turn into a collective or "class action" type case where the lawyers will take the club for millions in compensation.

Benny Mcarthy did an interview last year that highlighted the disparity between training performance and what happened on the pitch. Amorim finally feeling the pain that previous managers experienced. He is a great with the media, as such the press are finally cottoning on that maybe it’s the players. The narrative had to change towards the players and Ruben’s personality finally allowing all to see it. (Said this on other feeds)

Damaging a TV is something. That is a big hit on our transfer budget and some of our scouts will be out looking at suitable TVs to replace the broken one

People talking about Lenny Yoro as a wide CB, not quite getting it yet at 19. Sir Alex thought Phil Jones, injuries aside, could have been better than Duncan Edwards. Rio was a bit erratic at West Ham and Leeds.

OT pitch is too vast for us to play at on regular basis. Too demanding too often in an age where every team runs into the ground for 90 mins. Shrink the pitch literally and allow players that 5% cut in effort needed

The media could lay off half their reporters if United didn’t exist. The main problem with Mainoo is he’s being played out of position. He’s a 10 in this system not a 6.
@MrGts928 күн бұрын
I don't feel that's case , regardless of whether he's a 6 or 10, he needs players in closer proximity because of his lack of pace. He's great at keeping tempo but to be one of the two 10s or two CM is difficult for him.

Fansbase is pretty sad. The guy has been here since Nov 24, has a record of 3-2-6. Grabbed 11 points from 33, he smashes a TV and fans think he's the second coming of Fergie and his hairdryer. This is a guy who has a "system" and a niche formation , who's team can't play his system nor his formation, which he refuses to change and because he smashes a TV is now a hero. Meanwhile United are 13th, one spot higher than when he took over. This guy is taking a team, who has a core group of players who finished 3rd and won a trophy less than 2 years ago. None of these channels ever put out any vids on why did the Rashfords, Fernandes, Casemiro, Eriksen, Martinez, Dalot, etc win 23 games a year and half ago, and now stink to high heaven? Did they all collectively decide to down tools and stink?

If we sell Garnacho for €40-45m it will be a mistake. He has started to look less selfish after being dropped out. He will be an elite player in the future, minimum €65m to let Garnacho go but would live it for him to stay.

If Rashford doesn't leave the club this month he will be brought back into the team. INEOS will not accept paying a player over a million a month simply for turning up to training. Rashford holds all the cards - he doesn't have to accept just any old move but the club has to carry on paying him! Same situation with Casemiro!

The criticism of Mainoo is ridiculous.....the kids missed two pre-seasons & come back from an injury after playing from November in he's first season to Euro's.... Give the kid a break....he's also still learning the position, he was an attacking midfielder until a couple years ago
