The presenter's relentless cheeriness in the face of lovely and dour mr. Merritt is both charming and difficult to watch. Ace song! I had a chuckle at the weather report of "today: mostly sunny" running at the bottom of the screen as he sung, as well...

I don't know whose idea it was to schedule Merritt on this yucky morning show, but it is a stroke of genius, like a detournement of morning news shows. I love the singular applause at the end.

ah he handles himself the way I wish I could, but 'm much too uncoordinated and stutter through those uncomfortable moments. Stephin just owned him. He makes it look so easy and accidental too! And all he's gotta do is act naturally... sigh... I'll continue to study his genius. What a great clip! Thanks for sharing, I really needed this right now! Something dark WILL happen!

I can't stop watching this! And I keep trying to share it with people and their responses are as gold as the video is! Sigh... @unclefeezus Not every person that writes sad songs is depressed. Merritt just sees reality for what it is. Also, the interviewer says pretty awkward and stupid stuff. Interviewer: "Now, you're pretty good friends...?" Merritt: "Yeah, we're pretty good friends." Interviewer: "Yeah!" *pauses and stares at Merritt* ...
@Neurozumim16 жыл бұрын
I think the interviewer is strong and much in control, considering the amount of interviewers who completely lost it during their interviews. Of course the tone is very light but this is a question of context and the type of program. Merritt is for once exactly doing what he aims to do when doing all these interviews which is promotion. This is pure promotion, I think Merritt should be happy with it. Of course, I love Merritt.

I admire Merritt as an artist. His collection of work is among my absolute favorite, and he is also one of my highest musically echeloned songwriters. He has never produced anything that I would ever consider to be mediocre, and I enjoy all of his projects at all of their stages, from beginning to current. but I just cringe at interviews with him. For having such a respectable and enjoyable artist persona, as a human being, he just seems.... so hard to like!

Man, that host SERIOUSLY reminds me of a character I made up when I was nine years old. My character, Bob Schneider, was this obese African-American TV host who had a addiction to Diet Coke.
