@robmlisanti Take a look at Element by Kushview. It comes with a standalone version and you can use it to host Stepic. You can even sync it up with Garageband (I guess). And the best thing is, it's free. If you end up liking Element and use it regularly, I'm sure the developers would appreciate a supportive donation😉

am i missing something or is it not possible to create legato glides? Connecting gate steps (each containing a note on a different pitch) doesn't seem to do it, which is what you'd expect. This is such a standard feature on most synths, i'd find it baffling if it weren't possible with Stepic

Poor Neptune… Very good show! Educational meets calm, nicely-paced and tranquil-except for Neptune’s exile, but I get that. The Felonic Payback (Neptune thinking out loud here): “Ok Buster Brown, next time you’re Begging for my affection, just remember the day I was endeavoring to shower you in it, and you sent me away-on world-wide camera, no less. I’m hungry. Now. Wait a minute, what was I just thinking about? Perhaps it’s nap time.”

Ok, not finished yet, but have to comment on how well presented this is. Even caught the "hidden" tip of raising the Resonance until reaching the max desired by ear, then set the max knob to show the sliders move to the top of their range! Very clever and drives home the point that you can right-drag any mod destination slider while listening to hear the min and max ranges you'd like to start targeting then with the knobs! Your mention of the Chord Mode not necessarily being helpful with a number of defined pitches for various steps makes me think that choosing a Scale within Stepic should get you more useful diatonic chords. If somehow it doesn't function that way, just routing the MIDI into another tool that does that would be an easy fix (or as many DAWs like Cubase or Bitwig can natively do within a Track). Great tool, happy Xmas present to myself so looking forward to getting into it! Don't have a studio cat, so tell Neptune to be good, or you'll ship him to some guy who offered you $20 for him! 😀

@devicemeister
@devicemeister Жыл бұрын
@@Vincenade This is unfortunately a limitation of Logic Pro you're running into. For some reason it doesn't allow MIDI CC mapping for its own devices that come from a 3rd-party MIDI FX. There is a workaround that involves routing Stepic's MIDI to the IAC driver and then back into Logic. Personally, I don't think that's an optimal solution. If you still want to give it a try and don't know how to set it up, search on KZbin for "logic pro iac driver route midi".

Thanks for the video and the update. It’s definitely moved Stepic from a mid-tier to a top-tier plugin for me! When you’re in the explicit percentages mode, I can give a percentage for a step to play, or not play. But I can’t seem to give the CON a percentage chance. It would be great for varying the length of steps, and the other random mode lets you do that!

Great demo showing on how to modulate cc's! how does it work when you want to modulate paramaters of a vst?
@devicemeister
@devicemeister Жыл бұрын
It depends on the specific synthesizer and whether you are using the VST3 or Max for Live version of Stepic. With the Max for Live version, you can directly automate parameters in Live with Stepic, just like you would with an LFO, for example. Alternatively, almost every software and hardware synthesizer supports MIDI CC parameter automation today. With MIDI CC, you need to connect (map) Stepic's automation sequencer to the desired parameter via the controller number. Then you can control the parameter from Stepic.

I was going to email you about if you planned a transpose function. Now you've implemented it and a bunch of other really cool things! This may be a shallow request, but is there any way to change the colors of the buttons? Great demo by Martin. I noticed he didn't cover the scale transform function - he has a heavy chromatic bias!
@devicemeister
@devicemeister Жыл бұрын
You're right. Scale-Transform isn't covered in this video. The video was already 24 minutes long, and we had to make a cut somewhere. Personally, I think that's okay. In return, other functions are examined very thoroughly and in detail. By the way, Chris explained Scale-Transform well in the 1.5 release video. Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZXKqq2weNeZbac The button color cannot be changed in the current version. Under the hood, Stepic has a theme system that has been unused so far. I've always planned to offer additional themes, but unfortunately haven't managed to do so due to a lack of time. I've added your request as a +1 to the wishlist for this feature.

with the midi mapping the sequence changes, along with playing the note / transposing that note, do you have to let go of the note before you change the sequence? As in, can I hold the note down with 1 hand and change the patterns with my other hand.
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 3 ай бұрын
Hi, that's possible. Just make sure to use notes for pattern changes that you don't need for live playing (like transpose or the arp). That way, the two functions won't interfere with each other. I often use the lowest notes on my keyboard for pattern changes. Alternatively, you can control pattern changes via MIDI-CC. This is a good option if you have CC buttons on your master keyboard or a separate controller. Choose the option that best fits your workflow.

This seems like a great sequencer, and I'll likely buy it. However, it seems nobody has made what I'm truly after: a sequencer like the Korg Minilogue XD where you can use a metronome, record chords or single notes and they don't automatically quantize to a grid. I wonder if there are severe software limitations that prevent that. If not, would it be possible in an update? Also, does Stepic allow you to play in the notes of the sequence using your MIDI keyboard, or are the sliders the only way to input the notes? Cheers
@devicemeister
@devicemeister 11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your interest in Stepic! Since I'm not familiar with the sequencer of the Minilogue XD, I'm not sure what you're specifically referring to. In Stepic, you have the option to delay the timing of individual step notes, similar to a Nudge function, although it only allows for delays. Feel free to check out Part 1 of the Ultimate Stepic Tutorial on our channel, especially the 'Step Swing Section' chapter. Re. your second question: Currently, notes can only be entered via the faders. Various modes are available for this (Normal with the mouse, Draw mode, mouse wheel, etc.). If you want to get an idea of the different input methods, feel free to watch Part 3 of the Ultimate Stepic Tutorial, specifically the 'Pitch Section' chapter. The feature you're requesting is on the wishlist. I think it would be a useful extension for Stepic. Therefore, it's quite possible that it might be included in a future update. I've added your request as a +1 on the wishlist. If you'd like us to keep you posted on this topic, feel free to send an email to our official address.
