i know that people will get on my case about this, but how come there isn't a book or movie, where the daughter gets so resentful towards the stepmother that she ends up hurting or killing her, I mean I've seen this cliche a millon times where the kids eventually learn to love the stepmother, I'm sorry but I would like to see something diffrent

You wanna know what the worst thing about this movie is? Or at least, for me. Not the acting. Not the cliched plot, characters, premise, and overall soap opera nature of it. No. It's the fact that such a cliched movie caused me to have GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING ANXIETY ABOUT MY LOVED ONES SECRETLY HAVING TERMINAL ILLNESSES!! I mean, fuck. I spent the next many months asking, "Are you sick? Are you sick? Are you sick?" to my grandmother. Oh, and I forgot to mention that "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is forever associated with that movie as far as my brain is concerned. I hear that song, I have a downgraded version of a Vietnam Flashback. Oh, but do you wanna know the worst part? It was THIS movie that caused all of this. THIS. Not "Terms of Endearment", not "The Bucket List", not any of the million other cancer movies. No, it was "Stepmom". Humiliation, depression, and anxiety. Ain't life just fuckin' grand?

Yes, there ARE people who STEP up to responsibilities. They are called STEPparents for that reason. You obviously live under a rock. You sound sexist too, to think children should only live with their mother. Actually watch the movie. They have what looks like equally shared custody. That has been found to be best for children, and look up studies done on children that grow up without access to their fathers. The dad doesn't do all the caring-the caring is done by him, mom AND stepmom
